- what treatment in physiotherapy has been given? - do contrast bath - dip and squeez hand towel in hot water and apply on affected area, when it cools down than immediately appply cold water with ice in it. Repeat this for 10- 15 min for 2- 3 times daily. - in physio thake - us, ift, tapingtherapy - stengthening exercises for back and lower leg by weight training or use of theraband.(this is done only she is able to do all exercises of back without any pain and difficulty) - precautions: 1 avoid any weight lifting 2 avoid any jerky mov 3 avoid forward bending of spine 4 take side turns whike cominv out of bed from lying position to siiting. - consult good physiotherapist for full muscle assesment and treatment. - exercises change according to increase in muscle strength. Do take therapy for atleast 20 days.

Hi do 1 thng it just a simply thng whch joints r paining there do the exercise (flexion, extension, medial rotation, lateral rotation, and curcumdaction exercise) and apply hot formatation. If you have any doubts revert me back.

About 2-3 weeks ago I fell face first on the ground due to inability to spot a uneven surface on the footpath. That day my right knee did pain for the night, the next day however it subsided. Since like last week the pain has increased, much more as it is like going and coming back. I feel like wrapping something around the knee, till my feet. I can't keep my leg in one position for long.

Hi lybrate-user your description here clearly indicates a knee joint injury. This needs to be taken care of properly otherwise the trouble will become permanent and it will hamper many activities in your life. I am advising you to take some medicine for quick relief. 1. Sir I am in a rehabilitation stage after being operated in my left knee ligament i. E arthroscopic surgery of ACL Ligament. Now after surgery its 50 days already but bending of knee and regain of power of quadriceps is nt satisfactory for which it takes time 2 healing my foot. So pls suggest me, whether machinery physiotherapy like simulator, knee bending machine will give me early recovery. Pls suggest me if any other ways r there for faster recovery.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

.Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – Lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana? Do take ift and laser therapy for pain relief for 12 days followed by strengthening exercise from neuro physiotherapist and consult ophthalmologist for eye ailment and do take appropriate therapy best wishes.

Due to long sitting hours your back muscles are getting overloaded and fatigued. Firstly make some postural adjustments. Your desktop should be at your eye level, sit straight, keep a pillow behind your lower back take breaks every 2 hrs walk and stretch your back. Apart from this exercises for your low back are necessary. Learn these from a physiotherapist.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. First of all I would like to know whether at the time of initial injury, was there any bony injury like a fracture or was it a soft tissue injury? also please mention the duration of your symptoms. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hi, Apply Bakson’s Rheum Aid oil gently (2-3 times a day) and take orally Bakson’s Rheum-Aid syrup/ 1 tablespoon thrice daily. Also, increase your dietary intake of calcium which is present in green leafy vegetables, milk, milk products, sea food, white legumes, dried fig, black-eyed peas, almonds, oranges, seasame seeds. And vitamin D which is essential for absorption of calcium in our body and is synthesized naturally after getting exposed to sunlight, so early morning sunlight for 10-15min. 2-3 times a day is mandatory. Apart from this, do walk daily along with physiotherapy will also help you.

I am a 53 yr old male, I was diagnosed for hypertension in 2000. Since then I was on amtas at-25, when at kolkata in 2008 perindropil 8mg was added and subsequently now at kanpur my medicine was changed to amtas at-25 (od), s-amlopidine (bd), ecosprine 75mg (od). Now have swelling in my ankles and my left leg from the calf to toes swells up during the day. When I keep my feet up the swelling reduces.

There are actually many causes of swelling in you lower limbs, it can simply be postural in nature wherein swelling decreases when you elevate your legs. But since you are a chronic hypertensive I will advise you to get yourself evaluated by a cardiologist since the swelling could be due to a cardiac cause as well. If you are suffering from TB and under anti tubercular drugs, you should take sufficient rest, stay indoor till your sputum test is negative and have good nutritious diet.
