General Physician,
What Is The Healthiest Way To Treat Hypoglycemia?

Blood sugar refers to the glucose present in our blood. This glucose is formed from the food we eat. It is carried through our bloodstream to different parts of the body mainly to provide energy. Measuring blood glucose is an essential measure of our health.
Hypoglycemia refers to low blood sugar. This is a condition when blood sugar concentrations fall below normal. Without enough glucose, our body will not be able to perform its normal functions. It can be a concern for people with diabetes taking certain blood sugar-lowering medications, but it can also affect people who don?t have diabetes.
An episode of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) comes on very suddenly and you must be aware of how to tackle it effectively.
Causes of Hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia is usually seen as a side effect of Diabetes treatment. Some common causes of Hypoglycemia include:
Overmedication with insulin or Anti diabetic pills
Drinking too much of alcohol
Missed meals. Hypoglycemia may occur in people with cancer who are on chemotherapy, which often causes loss of appetite
Genetic defects in the regulation of Insulin release
Liver failure ? ability of liver to generate new glucose gets impaired
Pituitary and adrenal gland disorders affect the production of glucose
Symptoms of Hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia means that there is not enough glucose reaching our brain. With drop in blood sugar our brain gets impacted immediately and we start feeling weak and fatigued. There is also a blurred/ impaired vision. Sometimes you tend to feel extremely hungry as well.
Other symptoms may also include-
Rapid or irregular heartbeat
Paleness, cold/clammy skin
What to do when you feel hypoglycemic ?
If your blood glucose is less than 70 mg/dL, immediate action must be taken to increase the blood sugar level. In such a condition the healthiest thing to do is get your glucose levels up, immediately.
Get some carbohydrates into your body immediately ? snack on something sweet, maybe glucose tablets
Drinking fruit juices or simple plain water with added sugar also helps.
Check the levels again after 15 minutes and eat some other carb rich snack in case it is still low. Once you?re above 70, follow up with a protein snack to help stabilize your blood sugar.
Untreated mild to moderate hypoglycemia can lead to severe hypoglycemia and unconsciousness. Such a situation requires the intervention of a special and cannot be self treated.
How to prevent hypoglycemia?
Regularly checking your blood sugar level can help you keep it in your target range
Keeping quick fix foods around you whether in office or in the dashboard of your car is a good practice.
People with Hypoglycemia must check their blood glucose level frequently especially during long journey trips. If the person is driving, there could be trouble concentrating or seeing clearly.
Be aware of what causes the sugar levels to drop, when is it that it usually drops ? maintaining a record of these things will better prepare you to handle situations.
It?s critical to eat small snacks every 2-3 three hours. This helps prevent your blood glucose from falling too low.
Maintain a healthy body weight by consuming a healthy diet and engaging in adequate exercise.
Are you diabetic? Do you monitor your blood sugar levels?

Sir I am facing to all morning gas. I am always take to drinking water. But no solved my problems. Please help me.

General Physician, Nashik
Hello, Thanks for your query. Try an over-the-counter medicine containing simethicone, which helps to break down gas bubbles. You can try a process of elimination by substituting a gassy food for a non-gassy one, and see which one is giving you the most trouble. A few basic substitutions: • Rice milk for cow’s milk • Bananas, blueberries and melon for apples, peaches and plums • Gluten-free and spelt cereals and bread for wheat and rye products • Bamboo shoots, bok choy, carrot, celery, corn, eggplant, green beans, lettuce, chives, parsnip, pumpkin, and tomato for artichokes, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, okra, onions, and peas. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care

Im 40 plus I want to sex daily twice or thrice wat can I do for that rut now doing one time regularly.

Diploma in Family Medicine, M.Sc - Psychotherapy
Sexologist, Pune
I hope you do have a willing committed partner to be able to do sex more than thrice daily at 40 plus age. The sexual performance naturally declines as the person is a normal fact of life. I am wondering why is this so much of precoccupation with sex ... Before you get in the vicious cycles of miracle drugs from the Quacks ...consider this ....make sure you are not suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder involving addictions or borderline depression or anxiety issues. Do maintain good health, with good nutrition, exercise and diet. Maintain a healthy mind and healthy body, then you can enjoy your sex life for years to come ....

Is there a way which works 100% to increase penis size at the age of 40 and I had heared about a injection which is taken every three monts to increase sexual power.

Advanced Aesthetics
Ayurveda, Gulbarga
The average penis length is: ? about 5-10cm (2.5 to 4 inches) when limp ? about 12-19cm (5 to 7 inches) when erect (hard) Penises that are smaller when they're limp grow more when they're erect, so your penis' size when limp does not necessarily predict its size when erect. Many men worry that their penis is too small. But when you look at your penis from above, it seems smaller than it is because you're looking down on it. If you're overweight, your penis may look smaller as some of its base will be hidden by fat around your stomach. The size of your penis can also be affected by other things. For example, if you're feeling cold or anxious, it can make your penis temporarily smaller. Three Parts:Using Herbs to Increase Blood Flow to the PenisTrying Size-enhancing Natural SolutionsKnowing What to Avoid If you want to increase the size of your penis, there are several herbs you can use to stimulate blood flow to the area and temporarily help it get fully erect. More permanent natural solutions to increase its length and width include making dietary changes, getting more exercise and losing weight around your midsection. Much simpler and safer than surgical enhancement, right? See Step 1 to learn more about how you can make your penis larger without resorting to drugs or surgery. Try ginseng. Korean red ginseng is said to give the nervous system a boost through ginsenosides, a natural component of the plant. While there is no conclusive scientific evidence that ginseng causes the penis to get bigger, men who took ginseng extract tablets as part of a study in South Korea experienced better sexual function after taking the supplements for several weeks.

Hello sir, Please guide me how can i take take multi vitamin with milk or after food.

General Physician, Delhi
Multi vitamins tablets can be taken with food. It would be better if you have them with milk for benefit of additional nutrition. An occasional effect of multivitamins tablet is orange colour of urine. It is totally normal and is because excess vitamins are removed via urine. Do not be concerned by it.

Hello Doctor, My girlfriend is getting blood in urine. We had sexual intercourse 4 days back and thereafter she had an iPill (Contraceptive. What could be the reasons? Do we need to see a doctor? Thanks.

M.Ch - Urology, MS - General Surgery, MBBS
Urologist, Ghaziabad
Most likely it ie because of urine infection especially if she is going to loo frequently and there is burning sensation while passing urine. Start her on antibiotics. If it is vaginal bleeding it is because of breakthrough bleeding due to pill which is expected.

Psoriasis And Its Causes!

MBBS, MD - Dermatology
Dermatologist, Faridabad
Psoriasis And Its Causes!

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease where the skin cells form a mass of scales. These patches of skin are dry, red and itchy. It is an autoimmune disease which usually occurs on the skin of the back, scalp, palms, knees, elbows and around the fingernails and toenails, but some people have the diseased patches of skin all over the body. The patches may also crack, flake and bleed. The condition has no definite cure but the symptoms can be treated and managed.

Causes of Psoriasis

The following factors are proven to have contributed to cases of psoriasis:

1. Genetics
More than 32% of the cases of psoriasis have been linked to genes. In case of identical twins, if one twin has the disease, the other has a 70% chance of getting it too. There are several genes associated with the disease and most of these genes are related to the immune system. T cells (lymphocytes which affect cell specific immunity) can also cause psoriasis.

2. HIV
Human Immuno-deficiency Virus adversely affects the immune system and increases susceptibility of all kinds of infections and diseases. HIV-positive individuals have been found to have an increased risk of psoriasis than HIV-negative people.

3. Other diseases
Diseases like strep throat, chronic infections, skin infections and stress may be responsible for the condition. Other factors like obesity, alcoholism, skin dryness and smoking can also lead to psoriasis.

4. Medication
Anti-malarial, anti-inflammatory and blood pressure medicines can cause psoriasis as a side effect. The disease is also an effect of withdrawal from topical steroid creams and other steroid-based medication.

Symptoms of Psoriasis

The symptoms of psoriasis may vary from patient to patient. However, if more than two of the following signs are seen, it is likely that psoriasis is the causative condition:

  1. A whitish and silvery mass of scales surrounded by red patches of stinging, itchy skin
  2. The appearance of blisters or rashes on the dry scaly skin and also along the nails
  3. Bumps on the folded skin like back of the knees, armpits etc.
  4. Diseased patches of skin can crack, peel and bleed
  5. A sharp and localized pain in the joints accompanied by stiffness
  6. Soreness in the throat
  7. Tiny depressions in the nails or large brown patches under the nails
  8. Swelling and tenderness of the limbs
  9. Dental plaque
  10. Muscle pain due to the swollen bands of connective tissue
