This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain.

I have pain in my joints, whenever I do stretching exercise. After doing stretching exercise the pain remains for few days & if I do not do any stretching exercise then the pani vanishes. Please let me know, if this pain is because of muscle pain or something else.

Please let me know whether the stretching exercises done you is under supervision of a physical therapist or on your own? also please get you serum vitamin d levels and serum potassium levels done as any deficiency may be a cause of pain but since your pain becomes ok after some time I feel gradual built up of muscles with daily short increments will be useful. Good morning sir/mam, I am an army aspirant whenever I run more to increase my stamina, my leg (tibia) bone starts to pain in both my legs but pain in right one is unbearable. So I usually have to take rest for 5-6 days. 2 days back I consulted an orthopedist, he told me there is micro fracture also known as stress fracture in your tibia bone and you have to stop running for the rest of your life and have to think of something else as a career optn. Army is not for you! And it can't be treated. Is it true? Or should I consult another orthopedist?

Calf Stretches Standing calf stretch Stand away from a wall and.put your fight foot behind you and be sure your toes are facing forward. Lean forward at the ankle while bending the right knee and keeping your heel on the ground. Hold this for 30 to 60 seconds. Repeat 10 times a twice a day. Downward dog yoga stretch Get down on all fours with your hands under your shoulders on the floor. Walk your hands forward slightly on the floor. Spread your fingers apart to allow for a broad base of support. Push your hips up toward the ceiling and tighten your abdominal muscles. Keep your heels on the ground and gently try and straighten your knees. Repeat 10 times a twice a day. Wall calf stretch Stand about two feet away from a wall. Place the ball of your right foot against the wall while your heel remains on the ground. Slowly and gently lean into the wall while keeping your knee straight. Hold this for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times twice a day.

As you feel pain in knees, follow these usefultips for pain relief: * first check out bone mineral density (bmd). In case of low bmd, your calcium level in body are low. So take take calcium rich diet daily. Take a glass (300 ml) of full cream milk daily or 100 gm of cheese or 1-2 eggs regularly. * give a gentle oil massage to knees regularly and wrap your knees with cloth dipped in hot water for atleast 10-15 minutes. * wear knee cap or wrap crape bandage during walk for knee support. * sit atleast for 5-8 minutes in sunlight in morning or evening for vitamind. *avoid heal shoe and wear only flat shoes for balanced load on knees. * check out your blood sugar level and hemoglobin level in every 6 months. * if you have any history of rheumatoid arthritis in family then checkout your ra factor. * take guggalu tablets if himalaya one tablet daily for atleast 3 months. * take a piece of garlic, crush it and boil it a glass of milk and drink daily for fast pain relief.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

A diet rich in collagen:  Green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, soy milk etc contain collagen which is the main protein found in connective tissue that helps to keep the ligaments and tendons flexible.

Omega 3 fatty acids: A diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids is found to reduce the progression of Osteo- arthritis. Soybean, flaxseeds, sardines, walnuts etc are good sources of omega 3 fatty acid

Calcium and vitamin D are quintessential for maintaining bone health.

Yogurt, cheese, fortified cereals, orange juice etc contain calcium and Vitamin D. Exposure to sunlight also helps our body to synthesize Vitamin D.

Exercise can help to preserve and maintain joint mobility. Being overweight can put extra pressure on the joint and worsen the symptoms of arthritis. Yoga, walking, swimming, etc are great for joint flexibility and improving muscle strength.

In ayurveda there are many herbs that have anti inflammatory properties which help in combating the degenerative process. Ashwagandha, turmeric, guggulu etc are few of the herbs with anti inflammatory properties. Regular massaging can also help to strengthen the muscles and bones.

Tips to cure knee joint pain.. 1.Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. 2. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of different joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling 3.Peel two cloves of garlic and crush it. Add this to a glass of milk. Boil it on a mild flame till one-fourth glass remains. Filter and make two equal parts. Drink one part in the morning and the other in the evening. 4.Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. Massage this oil on your affected areas. After that do hot fomentation with salt potli (bag). 5. Take 1 tsf castor oil with milk at night once a week.

Sir I am 18 year old. When I lay on bed there is an unique pain at the end of my spine.

Backache is the commonest ailment. Do not worry, rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be.
