Hello lybrate-user, I would suggest you to go for a mri. To rule out any meniscus or ligaments tear to avoid early arthritis. If you can share history of injury, than it would be better to understand the nature of cause of pain. Regards.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello. These are signs of early osteoarthritis. The pressure on your knees increase a number of times when you squat in an indian style toilet or sit cross-legged. Try to shift to a western type toilet if you don't want a very painful knee at an early age. Apart from this you need quadriceps strengthening exercises to keep your knees pain free. Good luck.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

It might be of muscle strain or of fatigue do take strengthening exercise from physiotherapist apply cold water fomentation for thrice a day for 7 days regularly do revert for further assistance best wishes.

I have been suffering from disk problem since 7 months. I have consulted a doctor. I took x-Ray as per his advice. He said disk has been narrowed. He prescribed some painkillers and vitamin tablets. Could anyone please prescribe some medicine for me. I am really unable to sit without any support.

Dear, do the following things. 1. Hot fomentation for 1/2 hrs with lukewarm water. 2. Back extension excercises. 3. Pavan muktasan yoga 4. Bujangasan 5. Muscle relaxant tablets for 5-7 days. 6. Local application of analgesic ointment. 7 vitamin d in form of capsules/sachets under guidance of doctor. Check your vit. B12 level.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Calf muscle are stiff and due to gait problem. So stand with equal balance on both legs and tk heat fermentation with warm water and apply pain relief ointment after relief do calf stretching exercise tk calcium supplements and it may be initially stage of pf.

Hello lybrate user, from how long you are suffering with this problem is need here. - the posture of sleep if it is more towards left try to change it. - if you are in any sports or any exercises look at the cause what is actually causing that. Pain - if it is from long time take x-ray of neck asap - for now apply mahanarayana taila to the neck no need of massage and pour hot water for 15min - take kbl 101 cap 2-0-2 for 15days. Thank you.

: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

I undergone coronary angiography/ angioplasty on 28th jun 2006 & coronary stententing TO. LCX (M), OM2 WITH KISSING BALLOON TO LCX (D) ON 30 -06-2006. The procedure was uncomplicated and well tolerated with good results I have back pain (probably Disc slip problem) Can I get M R I done up?

Mri is cotraindicated in case of any appliance which creates elctro magnetic field, like pacemaker pt. But stent is not created electro magnetic field. It is not required for your case, unnecessary you are doing mri. Ct scan will be sufficent to diagnose your disease.

Confirm by x-rays of cervical spine ap & lat. Views use no pillow under the head during sleep. Do neck & shoulder exercises. How to Prevent Hipbone Fracture in Elders

Any mild fracture in the hip can give a tough time to people. A hipbone fracture or broken hip is mostly common in the elderly people, especially in women. Mostly, the reason is underlying thinning of bones. In addition, in any hospital hip fracture is considered to be the most common bone treatment in the orthopaedic department. 
A hipbone fracture can be intracapsular (within the joint capsule), or it can be extracapsular (outside the joint capsule). 

What causes the hipbone fracture?

As discussed before, the leading cause of hipbone fracture is thinning of bones. So if you develop osteoporosis, you end up getting a fracture in your hip, mostly when you fall. Osteoporosis generally means your bone density has decreased, and your bones have become honeycombed. This makes the bone more fragile. 

Generally, if you have a fracture in your hip, then you will feel pain around the injured portion, you will face difficulty in walking or moving. These are the most common symptoms that can be felt during a broken hip. Mostly the intensity of the fracture is determined clinically via different tests like X-ray, MRI, CT scan etc. The treatment may vary and depends upon the intensity of the injury. Now if we talk about the treatment of hipbone fracture, it's mostly surgery. 

Well, it will be smart enough to take prevention regarding the hipbone fracture. There are various kinds of guidelines, which can help elders to prevent a hipbone fracture. 

How to prevent hipbone fracture?

  1. First and foremost, it is advised to adopt a healthy lifestyle in young age in order to build a healthy bone, which decreases the chance of bone fractures in older age. 
  2. Always remember to maintain a healthy bone. 
  3. Calcium and vitamin D both are very important for healthy bones. Health experts advise, when you attain the age of 50 or above, you should daily intake 1,200 milligrams of calcium per day and 600 international units of vitamin D per day. 
  4. Exercise can help you to maintain peak bone density for longer periods, and it also increases the strength of your body and bones. Balance training also plays a pivotal role since it reduces the chance of falling. 
  5. Avoid consuming of tobacco and alcohols as it can reduce bone density. 
  6. Get your eyes checked every year so that you do not face any problem while seeing. This is because poor view increases the chance of falling.
  7. Keep an eye on every medicine you are taking. As dizziness or weakness can be side effects of many medicines, these can lead you to fall often. So it is advised to discuss your medication with doctors. 
  8. As you get older, the chance of high or low blood pressure doubles up. So you should be extra careful while standing up.

If you don't feel steady enough, then to avoid falling, it is safe to use a walker or walking stick in the old age.

Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Avoid lifting weights, bedding forward, sitting posture and practice yogasanas (bhujangasan, shalbhasan, makrasan, markatasan, kati uttanasan). Start physiotherapy and consult orthopaedic surgeon if symptoms persist.
