I was diagnosed with a retinal detachment and given a gas injection to the eye. I went back the next day and he lasered the tears shut and said everything looked good. However, I can still see the gas bubble in my eye. When does that go away? What do I do for it?

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology

The bubble will go away by itself with time, you should not worry about it. In case of any other problem, just be in touch with your Retinal specialist.

I am wearing spectacles for last 2 years. Should I use contact lens in place of spectacles?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Contact lens requires a lot of care and are expensive stuff. Moreover you must have to be very careful in placing and taking out contact lens from eyes. For those person who are into field jobs or drive 2 wheelers, contact lens are not recommended as dust particles can damage lens thus damaging eyes. But now a days contact lens is a common practise and if you can handle it with care then you can opt for lenses but always wear good quality daily wear disposable contact lenss of a good company like PURE VISION.

In my eye the water is come And My hemoglobin is also very low What I do please help.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology

Hello lybrate-user. Watering of the eye is one of the most prevalent problems observed. Watering of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. It occurs with symptoms of pricking, itching, irritation, watering, foreign body sensation and discomfort. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. Thus, eye hygiene remains the principal modality of treatment along with eye drops as a supplement. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. There may occur associated pain and sensation of itching, pricking, watering and discomfort. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic because it would require immediate removal from the eye and appropriate therapy. (4) raised eye pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the covering layers of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) injury/ trauma to the eye in any form may cause redness of the eyes. This should be taken seriously and assessed in detail by an eye specialist in person. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop along with an anti-histamine eye drop. (3-4 times daily) also, you might require a complete eye evaluation in order to rule out other causes. This would be possible only by examining your eyes in person. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care,

BHMS, MD - Homeopathy

Dear lybrate-user! do not worry about the eye problem, homeopathy can cure the problem without any adverse effect. The conjunctivitis are due to various infection caused by 1. Bacterial 2. Viral 3. Fungal 4. Dust 5. Allergens etc. The swelling near the eyes may be styes due to frequent infection, homeopathy can treat it permanently. 1. Avoid dust 2. Wear cooler while traveling in bike 3. Wear helmet while traveling in two wheeler 4. Wash your face more frequently for more than 5 times per day with normal water 5. Wash your face immediately after travelling 6. You may experience the irritation, watering, itching, redness, swelling and fever, homoeopathy can cure the problem permanently 7. Keep clean cloth for cleaning the eyes. Thank you

I am short sight problem in my eye. I am wearing spectacles at the age of 10. Currently my power was - 2.5 in each eye. Is it possible to reduce my short sight ranga in future.

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Pune
unfortunately there are no natural medications to remove spectacles permanently. you can either try contact lenses or plan for refractive lasik laser surgery Lasik is a simple laser procedure which changes the shape of the cornea so that the light rays fall on the retina properly. It is a painless procedure. It is a day care procedure does not require any injections, does not require admission, you can simply resume your duties in 2 days. Cost varies from centre to centre. Side effects are usually limited to dryness of eyes for few months. We can do lasik anytime after age of 18 years. You need to undergo proper prelasik checkup to decide whether lasik is safe for you or not

Hi I am 68 year old woman suffering from glucomma and also having cataract. Medicine that doctor suggests me to pour into the eyes causes irritation. What to do?

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
Glaucoma needs to be treated by everyday usage of eye drops. If you are not tolerating the drops prescribed, better to inform this to your ophthalmologist, it can be changed to another brand or another type of eye drop. You will find some product which you can comfortably use for a long time and save your vision from deteriorating. Your cataract will need a surgery, timing of which can be decided by discussing with your doctor.

I have this moles over my face and in many other body parts. What is the best way to remove it apart from surgery. I don't want scars. Also it is close to my eyes so tell me something that won't effect my eye.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Homoeopathic medicine-------------- sepia 30 (dr reckeweg) drink 1 drop direct on tongue daily night for 3 month--------------- natural treatment to eliminatemoles----------- castor oil helps remove warts and moles. Being a discutient, it helps dissolve and eliminate unusual growths. This method is not likely to leave scars. However, it tends to take a lot of time as it gets rid of moles one layer at a time. 1. Mix a pinch of baking soda and a few drops of castor oil. You can also mix in ground aspirin. 2. Gently rub the mixture on your mole. 3. Leave it on for a few hours until it dries naturally. 4. Do this twice daily for about one month. If you do not have baking soda, you can use castor oil alone.
