Gum diseases can be treated and reversed in their initial stages very easily. By getting the accumulated tartar and plaque removed by a dentist, there is a chance that they can get better without much ado.

Hi I am just 28 and my mouth is not open as usual. Kindly guide me what may be the possibilities behind this. And please guide me what should I do.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Keeping retainers in hot water, pockets, napkins or on hot car dashboards can cause harm to them.

Even if she brush her teeth regularly. But den smell never goes. Advice me please.

BDS
Dentist, Palakkad
Foul smell may b due to calculus in teeth or cavity in teeth. Or it may also be due to reasons relating to intestine etc. You may conslt a dentist for clinical examination. If its due to cavity then filling will solve your problem. If its due to calculus cleaning of your teeth is needed.

Commonest misconception about dental extraction:- Getting your teeth removed, worsens your eyesight. Fact - There is no co-relation between dental extraction and eyesight. Just think once, if this misconception was correct, then all the people who underwent dental extraction would have turned blind and all the people who wear spectacles, would have undergone dental extraction. Both the things are totally untrue. So please spread the word to your friends and remove this misconception from our society.

Always rinse your tooth brush thoroughly after brushing, and allow it to air-dry before using it again.

My front down tooths 3no has been extracted. The Doctor says between the two teeths bridge like can be rebuilt. But one of tooth also shaky. So he prefer to take one further teeth also for making it a bridge construction. Is that good idea

I am suffering from Dry mouth syndrome and mild anxiety. I am hypertensive and taking MetXL AM 50 OD on cardiologist advice. Please help.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Dear Concerned Dry mouth could be a side effect of your medication. Discuss it with your cardiologist. 1.sip water at regular intervals. You can try ice cubes. Drink at least a litre and a half of water everyday. 2.Smoking and coffee can worsen a dry mouth. 3.Citrus lozenges and sugar free gums can be of some help. 4.Avoid mouthwashes.(alcohol free can be used) 5.Try and get lozenges that are more natural. Ginger candy is a great option. Another great option is amla candy. Avoid sweetened or salted options. Go as natural as possible. Take care.

I have a problem with my teeth. When I drink cold water and hot tea my teeth pain what I do please sugest me.

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
You may have sensitive teeth causes can be: fractured teeth worn out old filling gum diseases tooth decay/ cavities hard tooth brushing loss of tooth structure/ tooth enamel exposed root a healthy tooth has an enamel layer which protects your tooth by acting as a natural crown on the tooth. Enamel is the part above the gums. The enamel structure is also the strongest in a human body. Below the gums are the roots which are covered by cementum. And the enamel and cementum have dentin underneath them dentin is not as dense than enamel and the cementum and it contains microtubules these are small hollow canals. When the tooth loses its enamel or cementum the dentin is exposed, i. E the tubules are exposed allowing heat, cold, acidic or sticky food to reach the nerves and the cells inside the tooth. Exposure of dentin may also lead to receding gums. Thus leading to hypersensitivity. These sensitive teeth need to be treated. The type of treatment is governed by the cause of sensitivity. Your dentist may suggest you one of a variety of treatments.

I am having mouth ulcers from last 3 days. Not much severe one. But very tiny blisters are present on tongue. N redness is visible inside mouth walls. Even normal food is too spicy for me these days. Suggest some ointment or medicine.

BDS

Mouth ulcers are usually due to vitamin deficiency or bad digestion. Other causes are tonsils, trauma from teeth, dry mouth, tonsillitis, stress, change in lifestyle, allergies to certain foods and medication, smoking and tobacco chewing, consumption of spicy n hot foods. Start some vitamin supplements. Apply local anaesthetic ointment like dologel. Eat healthy and balanced diet. Increase your water intake. Avoid oilly n spicy food completely.

I want to get solution for yellowish looking teeth. I brush daily two time bit still my teeth look yellowish pls solve my prob.

BDS
Dentist, Vadodara
Everyone doesn't have pearl white teeth. Harshly brushing your teeth will erode the first whiter enamel layer and will expose deeper yellowish dentinal layer. Go for scaling and polishing. This will make your teeth a bit whiter and shine. For further whiteness, go for bleaching.
