I feel exhausted even after doing simple household work. Please advise. I'm 40 years old female.
Persistent weakness can be caused by health problems like anemia, arthritis, hypothyroidism, a sleep disorder, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes and heart disease. In these cases, it is very important to find out the exact cause behind your weakness. To feel energetic and refreshed in life, you must exercise daily for at least 30 minutes, maintain your ideal body weight, follow a good diet, sleep properly, drink water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated, avoid alcohol and stop smoking Many simple home remedies also can give you a boost of energy and restore your strength Bananas Bananas are a great source of natural sugars like sucrose, fructose, and glucose that can give you a quick and substantial energy boost. Plus, bananas have potassium, a mineral your body needs to convert sugar into energy. The fiber in bananas also helps maintain the glucose level in your blood. ? Whenever you feel weak, eat one or two bananas. You can also try a banana shake or smoothie. To help strengthen your body and keep from feeling weak, eat a ripe banana with one tablespoon of honey twice daily. . Milk Milk is considered the best source of vital B vitamins that are believed to reduce weakness. Also, it is a good source of calcium that keeps your bones and muscles strong. ? Whenever you have weakness, drink a cup of warm milk with one teaspoon of honey mixed in it. ? You can also boil two to three figs in one cup of milk. Eat the boiled figs and drink the milk to gain strength. ? Alternatively, add one teaspoon of clarified butter to a glass of warm milk. Drink it twice daily to cure weakness caused by excessive loss of blood. Ginseng Known for centuries as a powerful antioxidant, ginseng can give you more energy whenever you feel weak. The calm and soothing nature of this herb will also have an instant effect on your nerves. 1. Cut one ginseng root into thin slices. 2. Simmer eight to 10 slices in three cups of water for 15 minutes on low heat. 3. Strain the solution, add a little honey and allow it to cool. 4. Drink one to three cups of ginseng tea daily as needed. Note: Ginseng is not suitable for those who have high blood pressure

I am 22 years old female. I have been noticing from last 3 months that I am having less bleeding during my periods. Earlier I used to have 6 days period but now it last only for 3-4 days from last 3 months. Can you please tell me all the possible reasons and their consequences in future? For your information I took contraceptive pills 3 times and after that also an abortion pill once at the age of 20. But I have not taken any pills from last 1 and half years. Does taking pills in past is the reason?

I had unprotected sex and took an Emergency contraceptive approx. 33 hours after. 9 day after this started bleeding even though my period is not due for at least another 6 days. Internet says it's breakthrough bleeding but it says that happens even when you are pregnant and now I am super scared. What are the chances I got pregnant when I had sex for like 7 minutes and nobody climaxed?

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Hi lybrate-user, do not panic. An episode of bleeding after I -pill is almost always there. This is because the i-pill disturbs the inner lining of the uterus. This is an indication that the i-pill has worked. But there is a possibility of your next period being delayed and then you again start panicking. What you can do is. Wait for another week. If you do not get a period by then. Do a blood test called serum b-hcg. Send me the report. This will clearly tell us if there is a pregnancy or not. Then we can discuss further.

Everything is fine. Vomitting is an element of pregnancy. Its always because of intolerence to smell. It would disapper on its own. As you have already crossed 12 weeks it does not matter if you take progesterone becasue the placenta is developed by now and is secreting its own progesterone. Everything else seems to be ok. Keep an eye on the diet you are taking.

Mother's Day Special - Give Your Mom The Gift Of Health!

MBBS, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Mother's Day Special - Give Your Mom The Gift Of Health!

She Gave you the Gift of Life! While you simply can’t repay her, these 5 Mother’s Day gifts are the next best thing!

Our mothers spend most of their time worrying about everyone else, brushing aside and ignoring her own health conditions. Although, we can't repay her back, but we surely can take care of her, as with growing age our mothers are often are at risk of a range of health conditions including menopause, bone diseases, heart problems and even breast cancer.  This Mother’s Day, rather than pretty trinkets, gift her something more long lasting and meaningful; let us give her the gift of health.

Here’s 5 super gift ideas to get you started:

  1. Help her detox and be stronger, with YogaWhether she is a stay-at-home mom or a working mother, Yoga is a great way for her to detox from a stressful working day. Get your mom a Yoga mat and enroll her in Yoga classes, this Mother’s Day. There are numerous benefits of Yoga, not only will it help her burn calories and stay fit, but also the strengthening poses will help her be healthier from within while the deep breathing techniques will help keep the stress of daily life at bay.
  2. Chart out a healthy yet delicious diet plan for her: A great way to help your mother is to help her get on the healthy track that is to create a diet chart for her. After charting out a healthy yet delicious diet plan for her, the more crucial element is execution, so make sure that she follows it. A healthy diet is essential for her, in order to fight against any health issues. Her diet should include green leafy salads, fruit and vegetables, yoghurt, lentils, and protein rich food. Also women at this age are highly susceptible to bone disease and ailments such as osteoporosis. Ensure that her intake of Calcium and Vitamin D is apropriate to fight the same. You can include delicious recipes for highly nutritional meals, along with the diet plan. A great way to get her excited about this is by being proactive, this Mother’s Day- Cook up one of those delectable healthy meals for your mom and bring her breakfast in bed! If you think special attention would work better, book her a consultation with a dietician who can give her a more professional evaluation and recommendation.
  3. Treat her like the Queen with a spa voucher: Mothers are superheroes, but even superheroes need a mini vacation (If not a full vacation). A soothing day at the spa could be just the switch off mode she needs to go into. Gift your mother a spa coupon this Mother’s Day, for her to enjoy some no-holds barred pampering. However, once a year is not enough for someone with so many responsibilities to de-stress. Therefore, along with a coupon, make sure that your mother has certain DIY pampering options handy all year round. From soothing herbal oils, loofahs, bath salts, scrubs and hand held body massagers to an electronic neck or back massager; enable your mother to have a spa treatment whenever her heart desires, from the comfort of her home.
  4. Ensure she has regular, health check-ups: While Mother’s Day is just once a year, you love your mom and want her to be healthy all 365 days. To maintain good health, one needs regular health check-ups. Either moms are too busy to find the time or they tend to not give enough importance, to their own health check-up. While on Mother’s Day you can gift her a full body check up (which everyone should get at least once a year), you can ensure that your mother is healthy on a daily basis, by keeping track of any conditions that she is suffering from and following up with relevant check ups, treatment and other procedures as necessary. Visit the doctor/clinic with her. Not only will you ensure that those visits actually happen at the frequency they should, but also the kind of moral and emotional support she will get from you through this will go a long way in keeping her healthy and happy.
  5. Help her gear up to stay fit and healthy: The key to staying healthy and fit is regular exercise. While Yoga works effectively for holistic health and well-being, it still may not be enough for your mom to attain all her health and fitness goals. If getting her to join the gym is out of question, bring the gym to her by buying convenient and compact workout equipment such as a treadmill or a spin bike. Not only can she attain major health goals from the comfort of her home, but also you guys can work out together, which will motivate her and even give you more time to bond.

Hi reeba. Lactation does offer contraceptive benefit but that is only till you practice exclusive breastfeeding, i.e. you give baby only your breastmilk. Since by 7 months you most likely aren't following exclusive breastfeeding you could get pregnant. i suggest you get a home pregnancy test and confirm. All the best

. You're most likely to get pregnant if you have sex within a day or so of ovulation (releasing an egg from the ovary). This is usually about 14 days after the first day of your last period, if your cycle is around 28 days long.

IVF - How To Prepare For It?

MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS
IVF Specialist, Dibrugarh
IVF - How To Prepare For It?

Infertility is known to usher a lot of emotional stress in the lives of those who go through it. Often, an overwhelming sense of grief descends upon the couple who try to grapple with the sense of loss. The social and psychological ambience plays a very important role in reconciling one with the harsh reality and prepping one up for a fresh start.

While IVF has proven to be a boon in the lives of many couples, many still take to IVF as the last resort. Another factor that makes the responses about IVF rather ambiguous is the uncertainty of the results. There are numerous factors like failure in embryo attachment or uterine incompatibility that often results in a failed IVF. Therefore, before opting for this surgery, one must be mindful of the consequences.

Some of the ways, one can prepare for IVF have been enlisted below:

  1. Informed choice: Considering IVF is a rather stressful surgery, one needs to be well aware of the stakes. Reading up about the potential risks and the details about the process, helps one to be prepared for the consequences and deal better with the trauma.
  2. Take good care of your intimate relationships: Since IVF tends to take a toll on not just the mother, but also the close family, it is important to maintain a strong bond of trust and compassion in the course of the surgery. Hostility and discordance adds on the stress and sometimes inflict grave health implications upon the mother. It is important to support your partner through the entire journey. You may consider professional counselling too.
  3. Prepare yourself for all possible situations: While the advanced technology aims to minimize any hazard, the results can often be unpredictable. You might want to adequately monitor your cycle in order to anticipate the potential problem areas and the results thereof. You should discuss these with your loved ones to avert excessive stress. It is a good idea to keep oneself productively busy in the due course to avoid anxiety. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Hi Vinaya their is no definite cure for PCOD . You should have healthy lifestyle and diet. Daily exercise for 40minutes. No bread, potato, rice, bakery products. Have antioxidants in diet and proteins too. You need to take treatment as per symptoms like delayed period, heavy bleeding, difficulty in conceiving.

Pills taken to postpone menses cant prevent pregnancy. As u must be expecting menses within few days, it is unlikely that u can get pregnant with sex just before menses. U should take i-pill asap to avoid pregnancy with sex on 1st march and use condoms for future sex till ut next menses. For the next 1 year, Oral pill is the best contraceptive for newly married couple. Condoms are still the most popular form of contraception, but can easily be forgotten in the “heat” of the moment, especially in a newly married couple. It also reduces sexual pleasure. Oral pills (combined pill) when taken correctly, the pill is over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.

I am suffering from stomach pain during periods. Please tell me why this pain is happen.
You are suffering from dysmenorrhoea, which is very common. It should be treated initially with meftal spas (pain killer) tablets. If the pain is too severe it should be further investigated with ultrasound, to find out the exact cause. You could be suffering from endometriosis or ovarian cysr or fibroid.
