Vaginal Itching - 5 Most Common Reasons Behind It!

Vaginal itching is a condition which occurs when the vagina comes in contact with irritants or because of a vaginal infection. Menopause may also lead to conditions that trigger itching in the vagina. In some cases, sexually transmitted diseases and skin allergies also lead to vaginal itching. The conditions in itself is not a major cause of concern, however, one should consult a doctor to treat the underlying condition, if any.

Causes

The main component of vaginal itching is the trigger, as there can be many of them. The various causes of vaginal itching are-

  1. Irritants: Vaginal contact with certain irritants can be the cause behind vaginal itching. Some common substances that irritate the vagina are:

    1. Creams

    2. Ointments

    3. Detergents

    4. Harsh soaps

    5. Scented toiletries

  2. Skin Problems: Certain skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis can result in itching and redness in the genitals. Eczema is a condition which is akin to allergies. Psoriasis is a condition which is characterized by itchy, scaly and red patches on the skin. These symptoms may slowly start spreading to the vagina.

  3. Infections in the Vagina: Infections in the vagina such as bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection can lead to vaginal itching. In addition to the vaginal itching, they can also lead to a foul smelling discharge from the vagina.

  4. Menopause: During menopause, the estrogen levels in the body dip, thus resulting in a dry vagina. A dry vagina can sometimes lead to vaginal itching.

  5. Sexually Transmitted Diseases: STDs such as gonorrhea and chlamydia are disorders, symptoms of which include itching in the vagina.

Treatments

The treatment for vaginal itching begins with a diagnosis of the underlying condition that might be causing it in the first place. The treatment for this disorder is cause specific; hence the underlying condition needs to be identified. Antibiotics and antifungal medications may be administered to treat vaginal itching. For menopause related causes, estrogen creams or tablets are required.

You can also take preventive measures such as:

  1. Avoid using scented soaps.

  2. Use protection during sex.

  3. Wear cotton based underwear.

  4. Eat plenty of yoghurt.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Many with braces face prob of dental ulcers. To avoid ulcers request your dentist fr some clear wax which has to b stuck on the brackets. This prevents rubbing of sharp edges of brackets against your oral skin. Apply dentogel oral ointment twice to thrive daily on ulcers. Gargle using betadine mouth wash twice daily. Avoid spicy food, tea, coffee, aereated drinks. Rinse your mouth well after each meal n maintain hygiene. Ulcers generally take arround 10-14 days to heal.

If the hair recession has only just begun, then there may be a few things you can do to not only stop the hair loss, but even reverse it. Step 1: Find the Cause of Your Hair Loss As there are a few different causes of early stage, it’s first vital that you discover the exact cause so you can treat the loss accordingly. This may be difficult – especially if you believe that a number of factors have played a role.  Step 2: Use Natural Methods to Stop the Hair Loss While hair regrowth is your ultimate goal, you’ll first need to put an end to the progressing loss. This will involve the use of a few different natural methods; let’s take a look! Cleanse and Rejuvenate the Scalp Whether due to DHT sensitivity, traction, or stress, it never hurts to cleanse your scalp and provide it with the nutrients it needs for a healthy environment. Stimulate the Hair Follicles A main factor of hair loss is hair miniaturization. This commonly occurs in MPB, but can also take place due to trauma or other hair loss causes. To treat the miniaturization, then, stimulation of the hair follicles is a must. The easiest way to stimulate the follicles is through scalp massage. This will increase blood flow to the scalp, which delivers necessary oxygen and nutrients while also removing harmful waste. However, a deeper and more effective option is available. Microneedling is a treatment method that involves the use of tiny needles. These needles are rolled over the scalp (with the help of a dermaroller), and cause superficial wounds. As the wounds heal, they go through a three step process (inflammation, proliferation, and maturation) that can actually stimulate hair growth at FIVE times the normal rate! As discussed previously, DHT sensitivity is the culprit in MPB. With this in mind, you can treat the source of MPB by reducing the DHT that’s produced, and removing it from your scalp. The salicylic acid shampoo above will provide you with a great start, but that’s only the beginning. To really get to the source, you’ll need to stop 5-alpha-reductase and DHT in their tracks. An effective way to do this is to alter your diet. There are a few ways to go about doing this. Initially, you can start by adding in foods that inhibit 5-alpha-reductase and DHT. This will help to lower levels of DHT within the body, and can lead to less hair loss. However, if you’d like to trigger regrowth, you’ll need to incorporate alkaline foods.
