Hi make a paste of neem leaves and apply on the targeted pimples. If you cannot get fresh neem leaves, try to get some dried bottled neem leaves, steep for 10 minutes in warm water and use as a paste. Apply pranacharya face glow on your face for 15 minutes then wash it with warm water.

Hi, minoxidil will work only if there are follicles/ roots present. And for males 5% solution is recommended. Mintop, tugain are few brands available in market in all percentage. Transplant is the best and sure line of treatment if you want proper growth regards.

Hi, I am 18 years old I have ringworm from last 1 years n its spreading all over my body I had done lots of treatments.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
Ringworm or Tinea infections, are a fungal skin disease. A family of fungi called dermatophytes causes these infections which might occur anywhere on the body, typically the arms, legs, neck, groin, scalp, hair, nails or beard. The fungi survive on the dead skin cells or keratin and rarely invade the deeper membranes and tissues. However, many ringworm (or Tinea) infections often recur and the usual medicines simply do not help the patient. In such cases, homeopathic remedies for ringworm can help.

Avoid combing hair with fine-toothed combs when wet. Although this is a tempting practice as hair straightens and de-tangles much easily if combed when wet, this is a common cause of breakage. The stress on the hair shaft is immense when the hair is wet resulting in weakened hair roots.

All antifungals are reasonably safe antibiotics, but grisiofulvin is very outdated one and not preferred these days, newer one include terbinafine itraconazole. But these medicines needs doctors expert advice before you consume them.

Tips for healthy skin and hair in Winter

MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy, MBBS
Dermatologist, Ahmedabad
Tips for healthy skin and hair in Winter
Winter – the onset of weddings, festivities, vacation and parties. Time to rev up, let your hair down, sing, dance and enjoy the best of times with your friends and family. It’s but natural that you ought to look your gorgeous self at each and every occasion. But winter does make this difficult. Dry skin and hair can rob you of your natural glow. With these basic tips, it is possible to look your best this winter:

1. Keep it lukewarm
Winter is the time when your skin and hair need maximum attention. Though the idea of piping hot water is very tempting, stick to a lukewarm water bath every day. Make sure to use a mild non-drying soap or a moisturizing soap.

2. Exfoliate

During winters, the varying temperature outdoors and indoors can have a major effect on the skin. While taking a shower, get into the habit of exfoliating with a loofah so as to remove layers of dead skin and make way for new healthy skin cells.

3. Make moisturizer your daily companion
Needless to say, choose a really good moisturizer to keep the skin moisturized and soft. Pay special attention to the exposed parts (and the most affected areas) like your hands, nails, feet and lips. Keep them well moisturized at all times. Use a lip balm to keep your lips soft and supple.

4. Sunscreen is not just for summers
Wear a sunscreen when you step out in the open. In fact, it should be a part of your daily routine throughout the year and especially during the winters. This is the time when it may seem that you don’t need protection from the sun but you really do!

5. Avoid excess use of deodorants
As you hardly tend to sweat during winter, it’s best to restrict the usage of deodorants which contain high alcohol content. These products tend to strip away the skin’s moisture leaving your skin dry. Go for alcohol-free products instead.

6. Conditioner is a must
Since you don’t sweat much in winter, don’t shampoo too often as it may dry out the scalp and hair. Use a mild shampoo and lukewarm water as very hot water can be harmful to your hair and scalp. And don’t forget the conditioner. If you want to go natural, coconut milk is an excellent conditioner.

7. Oil your hair regularly
However busy your schedule is, don’t skip the oil your hair needs. It will help regulate the blood circulation and keep your scalp moisturized.

8. Style wisely
Say no to hair dryers/ flat irons/ curl irons. These hair styling instruments work on the principle of heat, which when used during winters make matters worse. Instead use the cool setting of the dryer which though may take longer to dry but it would retain the moisture. Choose wooden hair brushes or combs instead of plastic. This is to fight the static hair caused by absence of moisture. If it fits in your schedule and budget, visit a good salon for protein treatment.

9. Cover with care
While woolen caps, scarves and stoles may make a style statement, it can also be the cause of hair breakage especially at the nape of your neck or forehead. Don’t try to be over-protective by wearing them tightly around your head. Leave sufficient space for air circulation in the scalp.

Is there any internal health problems if I use minoxidil lotion for beard growth that is minoxidil 5% solution.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, common side effects of minoxidil 5% include burning or irritation of the eye, itching, redness or irritation at the treated area, as well as unwanted hair growth elsewhere on the body. Exacerbation of hair loss/alopecia may also seen. So I advise you to take homoeopathic treatment for the same. It will take time but not cause you any side effects. You should take a homeopathic tincture called arnica montana and mix 1 tsp in 1/2 cup of water and apply upon the face on the beard and the mustache area with a cotton swab. Then use the razor movement technique. Take sulphur 200, 5 drops once in a week. Take pituitarinum 1x, 1 tablet daily for 15 days. Repeat the process every third day. Revert me after 1 month.

1)By perusal of about 200 health related questions, asked by young people it is revealed that there are three major concerns for them. Namely a) Getting rid of Pimples b) Getting rid of Obesity c) Search of fuller and muscular body. 2)Most questioners seek treatment of Pimples in some creams, or lotions. They are informed that pimples are caused by oily skin and closed pores. So reduced oil on skin and opening pores will cure them. 3)But how erroneous is this approach is demonstrated by failure of the treatment based upon the above theory. The funny part is when nothing can prevent the recurrence the blame is placed upon hormonal imbalance for which there is no definite cure. 4)What is forgotten is that the skin is also a part of the body and therefore if skin is afflicted in any way, it must be a manifestation of the problem of the entire body and not just skin. 5)Once this principle is accepted the emphasis is shifted to whole body and not to just the skin. 6)And then the line of treatment becomes logical and also successful. 7)Almost all cases of pimples are taken care of by the health tips of this month’s News Letter. By adopting this line of treatment, not only the pimples will go, general health will also improve. HEALTH TIPS: Line of treatment for pimples: 1)Start with washing the face 5-6 times a day. 2)Take an enema for first 6 six days. 3)Eat only fruits for these six days. Still better course will be to sustain on plain water for 2-3 days and then start on fruit diet. 4)Apply steam on the face once every day for first six days and then twice a week. The method for applying steam is as follows: 5)Take a vessel (Topia or Pateela or Bhagona) of about 2 kg capacity. Fill it half by water and put it to full boil. When water starts to boil cover the vessel and put it on a table. The patient sits on a chair and covers his head, shoulders, upper back and the vessel by a thick multi folded bed cover. It should be large enough to not to let the steam escape from sides. Open the vessel cover a little at a time, keeping the face close to the vessel. Inhale steam through mouth and exhale through nose. Continue opening the vessel a little more at a time till it is completely open and the flow of steam stops. Wash the face with cold water. 6)Come back to regular food but completely avoid spicy, fried foods. Eat lots of salads (not less than 200 gms with every meal) and fruits. Avoid fried foods, sugar and maida. 7)If you continue this way not only the pimples will go, the general health will also improve. The patients will experience reduced bouts of cold and cough. Sinus congestion will also be removed. 8)The obesity matter is already discussed many times in the past. The search for fuller muscular body will be taken up later. CAUTION: 1)Dengue and rains have become synonymous in India. It stops only when the winter sets in. 2)The Municipal Authorities and Government health departments try to stop it by killing of mosquitoes and by distributing vaccines etc. 3)Whatever they do neither the reach can be wide enough nor the effectiveness is assured. 4)More over many people believe that the whole exercise is just futile. In recent years many virus are stopped but all of them are replaced by new ones, which are more potent and more dangerous. 5)This vicious circle is continuing unabated. 6)In fact all efforts should be towards improved hygiene and improvement of immunity levels. 7)When will the governments understand it and take proper steps, no one knows, but as an individual, everyone can do a lot to achieve better immunity levels. 8)Do not take antibiotics without proper advice. Once started do not quit them without completing the course. 9)Follow the advice from this NL for Navaratry routine, twice every year. It will surely improve immunity levels. 10)Rains call for Chai Pakoras. Please avoid them. These are doing no good to anyone. Eat light and exercise regularly. MONTH’S RECEPIE: Water melon juice: Prepare watermelon juice in a juicer which does not separate the pulp but converts it into semi liquid so that it can be taken as a part of juice. Cut some watermelon in small pieces of less than half inch. Mix with juice. Have some mint leaves, duly washed and cut. Pour the juice in glasses and garnish with mint leaves. Serve chilled. This delicious juice is a mine full of antioxidants, nutrients and fiber. If desired, one can also add some lemon juice and salt. ADOPT NATUROPATHY FOR PERPETUAL GOOD HEALTH

Skin getting discolored Dear sir/mam why my skin is getting discolored since 1 years I am facing this problem and skin is continuously getting discolored.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi Sabir., Healthy skin is coated in a thin layer of natural lipids, or fatty substances. They keep in moisture, leaving the skin soft and supple.Usually, something in the environment - or something you're doing to your skin - is stripping away these fatty oils, leaving your skin unprotected. Less often, the cause is internal; a health condition, menopause or genetic predisposition is making your skin dry out and discoloured. AYURVEDA refers this condition as Vyanga.,so here by i am advicing some medication along with some general tips to follow. Medication:- 1.Regular massage with Tavishi(cold pressed coconut oil) daily twice a day, before bath and in before going to bed. 2.Regular applying a face mask.,Arjunadi churna-with honey and leave it for 30 mons 3.Applying kumkumadi lepam daily in the night as a night cream General Tips:- 1.Avoid:-a.Alcohol b.Junk food. c.Red meat. d.Dairy products. e.condiments. f.Citrus fruits. 2.Avoid spicy & more salty food. 3.Take plenty of fruits. 4.Clean & clear face at least 3 times a day.
