I am 46 years old working suffering from thyroid and PCOD. Except thyroxine 50 mg. I am taking any kind of medicine. Please advise if I should start taking AMway's nutrilite daily or woman revital. Which one is better?

I am 46 years old working suffering from thyroid and PCOD. Except thyroxine 50 mg. I am taking any kind of medicine. ...
lybrate-user, Your BMI is 33.33 kgs/M2, showing grade 1 obesity. This points to an uncontrolled hypothyroidism also it does aggravate PCOD. You should seriously plan to reduce weight. Your ideal body weight should be 55 kgs. Plus there should be better control of TSh levels to keep hypothyroidism in check. On treatment TSH should be between 3 to 4 mU/L, then only all the symptoms are in check. For PCOD also you need to take some treatment. Regular exercise and properly planned diet are needed. As regards taking Nutrilite, an exorbitantly expensive product, there a re a number of alternative Indian products with whey protein. Those can be used. But first you have to work on reducing the weight. Thanks.

Don't worry. These are normal premenstrual syndrome symptoms. Wait for your periods and if you don't get periods by 1 more week, repeat pregnancy test.

I pill has its effect upto 72 hours but the best effect upto 24 hours of sex. You vomited blood due to gastritis and if not yet evaluated you have to do D & C and get the pregnancy removed

5 Most Common Urologic Diseases!

MBBS, MS-General Surgery, DNB
Urologist, Delhi
5 Most Common Urologic Diseases!

The urologic system includes all problems related to the urinary system including the kidneys, bladder, ureters, urethra, and the prostate. These problems could range from trauma, injury, inflammation, infections, and muscular problems like overactive bladder, prostate hypertrophy, sexual disorders (candidiasis, erectile dysfunction, etc.), tumors or overgrowths, infections of any part along the entire tract, and even erectile dysfunction.

Let us quickly look at the most common ones kidney stones, urinary tract infections, prostate enlargement, erectile dysfunction, and vaginal candidiasis.

  1. Kidney stones: These are calcium deposits, which can seat themselves in any part of the kidney and sometimes even in the ureter. These can cause significant sharp, shooting pain in the back of the abdomen. The pain is almost diagnostic, and while small stones may pass on their own, others may require shock wave lithotripsy to break the bigger ones into smaller ones, which can then pass on their own through urine. Dietary modifications may also be required to prevent the formation of stones, as most people tend to have recurrence of stones.
  2. Prostate hypertrophy: One of the most common problems faced by ageing men is benign prostatic enlargement (BPH). There would be a constant urge to urinate, simultaneous difficulty initiating a stream and a feeling of incomplete emptying. These happen more at night, and diagnosis is very easy, any elderly male who shows these symptoms is almost diagnostic of BPH. This requires a standard surgical procedure known as transurethral resection of the prostate, which is a same-day surgery and quite non-complicated.
  3. Urinary tract infections: This is one of the most common infections, which can be acquired from the use of public bathrooms and unhygienic bathroom practices. There is chance for infection of the entire tract starting from the urethra to the ureter, the bladder, and the kidney. These run the course of any infection. Treatment is usually with a course of oral antibiotics along with symptomatic treatment of the other symptoms like fever, muscle ache, etc. In very rare cases, systemic antibiotics may be required.
  4. Erectile dysfunction: One of the most common, but undisclosed male sexual problem is erectile dysfunction. There is inability of the male to achieve and/or sustain an erection, sufficient to have a satisfactory sexual intercourse. This has both physical and psychological reasons, and may also be due to hormonal imbalance. Very often, a discussion with a counselor would be required to treat the couple, as involving the partner is very important.
  5. Vaginal candidiasis: The normal vaginal flora is very rich with the fungi Candida, and when immunity is low, candidiasis develops. There could be symptoms like foul-smelling discharge, itching, and redness. A course of topical antifungal agents is usually effective in treating this condition.

Hello Dr. I am pregnant last 12 week I want my baby fair What to do please help me.
There is nothing we can do to change the complexion that is genetically decided . Dut some home remedies are given by grandmothers form very old times and you can just try them for getting a color of the baby although we cannot be sure of its success .Complexion of a baby purely depends on genetics.some people say drinking saffron milk during pregnancy makes baby fair, which is untrue there is no proven food which makes baby fair.Babies that are fair/light skinned lack melanin content that is very important to protect against sun damages. Black/brown babies are beautiful too. In Fact, the west prefers brownish/olive skin tones these days! So, pray for a healthy baby and that's just about it.

Its safe to do sex in periods? Tell me n detail Bcoz my partner is excited in her periods.

Its safe to do sex in periods?
Tell me n detail
Bcoz my partner is excited in her periods.
Of course you can have sex during your period, but I'd warn you that it's usually more painful. Also, it's going to be messy. So you might want to try and have something beneath you to catch the flow of your menstruation. Remember to use protection, and that you are at a higher risk of getting an STD when you are menstruating, only because of the more fluid flowing through your body at the entrance point.

Post exposure on 5th May 2017 (sexual intercourse) Western Blot Test done on 2.6. 2017 and Anti HIV I & II antibody test done on 31.5. 2017 (Result - NEGATIVE). Am I safe or any other test for safe confirmation. Kindly advise.

MD, BHMS
Sexologist, Mumbai
Both the tests were done in window period. Wait till 12 weeks of exposure and repeat the same test. If you want to do the test immediately then, you have to take HIV PCR qualitative test. It's expensive but will give you confirmed result.
