Lasik is a simple laser procedure which changes the shape of the cornea so that the light rays fall on the retina properly. Basically a flap is made on the cornea, the laser is then given to cornea and flap is reposited. It is a painless procedure. It is a day care procedure does not require any injections, does not require admission, you can simply resume your duties in 2 days. Cost varies from centre to centre around 25k to 60k Side effects are usually limited to dryness of eyes for few months. We can do lasik anytime after age of 18 years. You need to undergo proper prelasik checkup to decide whether lasik is safe for you or not. this podium does not allow us to recommend any particular center

I am suffering from irritation of right eye since three years, w. E. F. Tight discharge. What can I do?
Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your eye trouble. If you have irritation along with discharge, it would be more likely due to infection of the eyes. You should use an antibiotic eye drops. Use moxifloxacin eye drops 4 times in a day along with tobramycin eye drops 4 times in a day. Keep a gap of 15 minutes between two types of drops. Continue using the lubricant eye drops 6 to 7 times in a day. Wash your eyes regularly. Avoid rubbing your eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc with the eye drops and the hygienic precautions mentioned you are sure to get relieved from your signs and symptoms within a short span of time. Take care-regards.

My eyes getting pain from last few days. I am an IT Person. Please help me. What should I do?
Hello, Get your eyes tested. Include the following for getting better vision: Vitamins A, C, E, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic, onions and capers. Blueberries, grapes, and goji berries have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. DHA is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like wild salmon, sardines, mackerel, and cod. Exercises for eyes: Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing rather reducing the power of your eyes (if you have got weak eyesight). Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance. Use Euphrasia eye drops.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are both important nutrients for eye health, 6 as both of them are found in high concentrations in your macula—the small central part of your retina responsible for detailed central vision. More specifically, lutein is also found in your macular pigment – known for helping to protect your central vision and aid in blue light absorption—and zeaxanthin is found in your retina. Estimated daily dose of lutein is 10 mg per day, and at 2 mg/day for zeaxanthin. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are primarily found in green leafy vegetables, although zeaxanthin is far scarcer than lutein. Kale and spinach are two of the most lutein-rich foods, but you'll also find it in carrots, squash, and other orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids called xanthophylls, which give plants and vegetables their yellow-orange color, and the name" lutein" comes from the Latin word" luteus, which means" yellow. If you remember this, it may help you pick out vegetables that are likely to contain higher amounts of these two nutrients. Egg yolk is another source of both lutein and zeaxanthin that is well absorbed by your body Most of the dark green leafy vegetables, previously recommended for a higher intake of lutein and zeaxanthin, have 15-47 percent of lutein, but a very low content (0-3 percent) of zeaxanthin. Study shows that fruits and vegetables of various colors can be consumed to increase dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthi It is also important to note that lutein is an oil-soluble nutrient, so if you eat the vegetables without some oil or butter your body can't absorb the lutein. Adding a little bit of healthy fat, such as olive oil, coconut oil, or raw organic butter, will maximize your lutein absorption. The symptoms described by you are suggest the possibility of" cosmetic induced allergy/ hypersensitivity" of the eyes. It is possible that the shampoo/ soap/ shower gel that you use during taking a shower may enter the eyes and cause reddish coloration of the eyes. This is commonly experienced by many people. A good way to confirm this would be to prevent the cosmetic/ shampoo/ soap/ shower gel from entering into your eyes. If this simple measure results in relieving the redness in your eyes, it would confirm the cause as well. Another good idea would be do gently splash clean water in your eyes 3-4 times in a day. This would clear the dust load in the eyes and the bacteria as well. Hope my suggestions help, take care!

Right side eye a black round spot seen. Everything hazy not cleared left side eye no problem.
Pls get your both eyes dilated retinal examination done. Theses spots are called as floaters and r markers of vitroretinal pathology. So it is must to identify the cause for them and d treatment laser done. Because if the pathology is unattended later seriuous problems like of retinal detachment can occur which carry poor prognosis.

My eyes are getting deeper day by day, can my mobiles effects my eyes? What should I do?

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Pune
My eyes are getting deeper day by day, can my mobiles effects my eyes? What should I do?
Here are the instructions for mobile phone use: 1. Blink, blink and blink again. Blinking often (and for more than a second) keeps your eyes moist and reduces dryness and irritation. We tend blink about a third less than we normally would when we stare at our smartphone screens, which starves our poor peepers of protective tears. Keep your eyes wet by blinking about 10 times every 20 minutes or so and you should be good to go. 2. Minimize glare. Unless you have a smartphone equipped with anti-glare Corning Gorilla Glass or use a matte screen protector film, you’re probably coping with a fair amount of annoying reflective glare. 3. Take breaks. Follow 20-20-20 rule. The concept is to take a break from looking at your screen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds while looking at something 20 feet away. Doing so relaxes your eye muscles 4. Adjust your brightness. Having your screen too bright or too dark stresses your eyes out and can cause problems maintaining focus. To eliminate either issue in about a matter of seconds, simply go into your smartphone settings and adjust your screen brightness so it’s about the same as the light level in the environment around you 5. Tweak your text size and contrast. Adjusting your smartphone text contrast and size also provides a little much-needed relief. 6. Keep a clean screen. Routinely wipe down your smartphone screen with a dry (not wet!) cleaning cloth to remove distracting dust, grime, smudges and fingerprints. 7. Hold your smartphone farther away. Try holding yours at least 16 to 18 inches away from your eyes to give your eyes a break.
