For dandruff, you need to avoid dryness in the scalp. You should use scalpe shampoo in place of any other (use normally, do not over-use) oil your scalp and massage it from time to time. Keep your body hydrated. Do not scratch your head. Soothe it with oil.

Use a sterile cotton ball to apply lemon juice on the scarred skin and make sure the involved area of skin is fully covered. Wash your skin with tap water after 10 minutes. Avoid going in bright sun if you have lemon juice on your skin (and application of lemon juice may make your skin sensitive)

Yes it can. Pain due to pancreatitis or colitis can be felt at the back or in lower abdomen. But before concluding on the above statement, I would suggest get a detailed symptom evaluation for a gastrosurgeon / gastroenterologist.

Dear Lybrateuser, - You should first try to control your blood sugar level by lifestyle changes - have more of fibre containing foods like fruits & vegetables, legumes including pulses, lentils, beans, sprouts, low fat proteins, lean meats - avoid fried, processed & junk foods, also sweets, salty snacks, alcohol & tobacco if you do so - have 5-6 small meals including snacks rather than three large meals, chew your food well, do nit skip meals, have meals on time - reduce your weight by diet & exercise, sugar level will come down - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming for one hour, also include moderate weight lifting twice a day, do yoga & deep breathing for 5-10 min daily morning to keep fit - monitor sugar & can consult a dietician for proper diet - follow the lifestyle measures for 3-4 months & if no decrease then consult a doctor.

The first step towards weight gain is to find the cause behind it. The digestion & absorption of the nutrients both are equally important. Just the intake of any protein will not help if the absorption is not sufficient. Combination of different proteins along with carbohydrates is important for it to function properly. Also the body type & knowledge of suitable protein will help help gain weight. Overeating will surely not help. Regards

Hi doctor. Me and my boyfriend had intercourse last Sunday. He was not fully into me. But I did not bleed and I had much pain. I'm a virgin. I have pcod. It was just for 30 sec. Is there any chance of pregnancy? Please I'm worried.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
Hi doctor. Me and my boyfriend had intercourse last Sunday. He was not fully into me. But I did not bleed and I had m...
You say your boy friend was" not fully" into you, and that you did not bleed. Vagina is the place where the penis gets inserted at sex. Vagina has a outer covering called hymen and this hymen has a central small hole through which the penis passes at sex. While most of the women have bleeding if hymen is torn during sex, some do not have it in some women the hole in the hymen is elastic enough to allow the penis to go beyond it. So even though you may have an intact hymen and no bleeding and your boyfriend has not been" fully into" you, it could be that he has either ruptured your hymen or gone beyond it due to its elasticity. In some men the pre ejaculatory fluid which comes at erection and drops out of the penis when being inserted, it may contain sperms. So there could be a" slim" chance of pregnancy, if such a sperm has been released. But by and large pre ejaculatory fluid doesnot contain sperms and so the chances of the pregnancy are" rare" at the most. The chances of the pregnancy are high if the intercourse has happened in the fertile days if 72 hours have not passed since the intercourse, it may be prudent to take a emergency contraceptive pill for safety. Do not worry. If you are feeling very worried consult a gynecologist.

10 IMPORTANT KEYS FOR SUCCESS IN EXAMS

10 IMPORTANT KEYS FOR SUCCESS IN EXAMS

The key to becoming a successful student is learning how to study smarter, not harder. This becomes more and more true as you advance in your education. An hour or two of studying a day is usually sufficient to make it through high school with satisfactory grades, but when college arrives, there aren't enough hours in the day to get all your studying in if you don't know how to study smarter.

While some students are able to breeze through school with minimal effort, this is the exception. The vast majority of successful students achieve their success by developing and applying effective study habits. The following are the top 10 study habits employed by highly successful students. So if you want to become a succesful student, don't get discouraged, don't give up, just work to develop each of the study habits below and you'll see your grades go up, your knowledge increase, and your ability to learn and assimilate information improve.

1. Don't attempt to cram all your studying into one session.
Ever find yourself up late at night spending more energy trying to keep your eyelids open than you are studying? if so, it's time for a change. Successful students typically space their work out over shorter periods of time and rarely try to cram all of their studying into just one or two sessions. If you want to become a successful student then you need to learn to be consistent in your studies and to have regular, yet shorter, study periods.

2. Plan when you're going to study.
Successful students schedule specific times throughout the week when they are going to study -- and then they stick with their schedule. Students who study inconsistently usually do not perform as well as students who have a set study schedule. Even if you're all caught up with your studies, creating a weekly routine, where you set aside a period of time a few days a week, to review your courses will ensure you develop habits that will enable you to succeed in your education long term.

3. Study at the same time.
Not only is it important that you plan when you're going to study, it's important you create a consistent, daily study routine. When you study at the same time each day and each week, you're studying will become a regular part of your life. You'll be mentally and emotionally more prepared for each study session and each study session will become more productive. If you have to change your schedule from time to time due to unexpected events, that's okay, but get back on your routine as soon as the event has passed.

4. Each study time should have a specific goal.
Simply studying without direction is not effective. You need to know exactly what you need to accomplish during each study session. Before you start studying, set a study session goal that supports your overall academic goal (i. E. Memorize 30 vocabulary words in order to ace the vocabulary section on an upcoming language test.)

5. Never procrasitinate your planned study session.
It's very easy, and common, to put off your study session because of lack of interest in the subject, because you have other things you need to get done, or just because the assignment is hard. Successful students do not procrastinate studying. If you procrastinate your study session, your studying will become much less effective and you may not get everything accomplished that you need to. Procrastination also leads to rushing, and rushing is the number one cause of errors.

6. Start with the most difficult subject first.
As your most diffult assignment or subject will require the most effort and mental energy, you should start with it first. Once you've completed the most difficult work, it will be much easier to complete the rest of your work. Believe it or not, starting with the most difficult subject will greatly improve the effectiveness of your study sessions, and your academic performance.

7. Always review your notes before starting an assigment.
Obviously, before you can review your notes you must first have notes to review. Always make sure to take good notes in class. Before you start each study session, and before you start a particular assignment, review your notes thoroughly to make sure you know how to complete the assignment correctly. Reviewing your notes before each study session will help you remember important subject matter learned during the day, and make sure studying targeted and effective.

8. Make sure you're not distracted whiles you're studying.
Everyone gets distracted by something. Maybe it's the tv. Or your family. Or maybe it's too quiet. Some people actually study better with a little background noise. When you're distracted while you're studying you (1) loose your train of thought and (2) you're unable to focus -- both of which will lead to very ineffective studying. Before you start studying find a place where you won't be disturbed or distracted. Some students like the library where it is quiet and books around you to help focus.

9. Use study groups effectively.
Ever heard the phrase" two heads are better than one? well this can be especially true when it comes to studying. Working in groups enables you to (1) get help from others when you're struggling to understand a concept, (2) complete assignments more quickly, and (3) teach others whereby helping both the other students and yourselve to internalize the subject matter. However, study groups can become very ineffective if they're not structured and if groups members come unprepared. Effective students use study groups effectively.

10. Review your notes, schoolwork and other class materials over the weekend.
Successful students review what they've learned during the week over the weekend. This way they're well prepared to continue learning new concepts that build upon previous coursework and knowledge acquired the previous week.

Please suggest he did Some diet wich gives more stamina during workouts. And also suggest some height increasing exer...
Hello. One can increase the stamina by including a well-balanced diet by adding low-fat products, plenty of fruits and vegetables and lean meat. So, increase intake of healthy food (food having anti-oxidants like green vegetables, nuts, salads, fruits, fish, green tea; food rich in calcium like milk & milk products; flaxseeds, poppyseeds), avoid alcohol & smoking, drink lots of water (10-12 glasses per day), take sufficient sleep (6-9 hrs per day), avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension, sports like football, basketball and all other sprinting games will help strengthen your heart so that more oxygen reaches all parts of your body, include cardiovascular exercises like running, swimming, jumping etc. And exercise daily for 30-45 minutes (brisk walk is the best exercise to increase the circulation of the whole body), later you can increase the duration as per your stamina. (do the above slowly and gradually). Medication: take schwabe's alfaalfa tonic and five phos./ thrice a day daily for 4 weeks. For height: as height can be gained till 21 yrs. Of age in males and 18 yrs. In females, so you do have 6 yrs. More to grow further! medication: start taking homoeopathic medicines which are safe to take without any side-effects - bakson's hite-aid and five phos. - both thrice daily and thuja 1m/ one dose once a week - take them for 4 months. Management: consume a balanced diet. A person will look a lot shorter when having a plump body. Not only that, being fit by eating right will make you taller and feel better! eat plenty of lean protein. Lean protein, such as white poultry meat, fish, soy, and dairy, helps promote muscle growth and healthy bones. Simple carbohydrates such as pizza, cakes, sweets, and soda, are the stuff to stay away from. Eat plenty of calcium. Calcium, found in leafy green vegetables such as spinach and kale, and in dairy (yogurt and milk), helps promote healthy bones. Get enough zinc. Studies, although they have been inconclusive so far, point to a possible link between zinc deficiencies and stunted growth in boys. Good sources of zinc include oysters, wheat germ, pumpkin and squash seeds, lamb, peanuts, and crab. Get enough vitamin d. Vitamin d promotes bone and muscle growth in children, and a deficiency has been shown to stunt growth and cause weight gain in teenage girls. Vitamin d can be found in fish, alfalfa, or mushrooms commonly. 60% to 80% of your height is determined by genes! apart from these: -exercise throughout the teen years and in puberty. Get out and about and work your muscles for at least 30 minutes each day. Join a gym, join a sports team, if nothing else, walk around. Do get indulge in stretch exercises, and sports like basketball, volleyball. -sleeping is the time when your body grows, get between 9 and 11 hours of sleep per night if you're a preteen or still younger than 20. -avoid any bad habit like smoking which affects the height, also avoid anabolic steroids which inhibit bone growth in young children and teens. -always stand straight instead of hunching your back.

Dear lybrate-user, I can see the trouble. Usually anxiety disorder comes under disorders, not disease. Mental disorder do not need any medicines for management. Any clinical psychologist should be able to provide you with psychotherapy methods to overcome your anxiety problem provided you give us every details. Dear doctor. I have sleeping disorder. No matter how much ever I try but I do not get sleep at all. Most of my days and nights goes sleepless. In a day with great difficulty I may manage to get sleep for only 2-3 hours. I am married since 8 months but I am totally ignored by my husband. My husband has even left me to stay with my mother and has no intention to take me back. He comes to meet us every week. But we never spend time together. This attitude of his is putting me in a depression. Whole day and night I keep crying and sulking about it. He doesn't even allow me to work. I don't have any idea what to do? Sometimes I feel like quiting my life. I tried speaking to my husband about this issue many times but he doesn't find this topic important and gives me deaf ears treatment. Which is very hurting. And I feel this is the major reason which is pushing me to sleeplessness and depression. Kindly advise what should I do?

Dear, you may think of your husband's behaviour as the reason for your sleeplessness and depression. Probably you need to think what had made him to behave that way. If it is something in you, you have to try to correct it. If it is not due to your behaviour, then you should plan your future with such a husband. What will he do, if you go for a job? in what way he is going to prevent you? just think of your life before 8 months. You had some goal and you were working towards it. Please catch up with it now again. Since you are already thinking of quitting your life, it is better that you consult a psychiatrist, get diagnosed and treated. She/he may treat you with antidepressant tablets, electroconvulsive therapy and/or talk therapy. It may take few months - but it is worth. You may have to go to psychiatrist repeatedly to adjust the treatment according to your need. You will back yourself before marriage. Your husband also will see a bubbling lybrate-userinstead of a sulking taniya. Who knows, he may visit you daily and even take you to his place, if he spends happy time with you.
