Hi the bleeding from the gums is mainly due to accumulation of calculus beneath the gingiva/gums which can be due improper maintenence of oral hygiene or due pocket formation around the particular teeth consult your family dentist for oral prophylaxis and in the mean time start using any gum astringer.

I have a problem that my teeth start grinding automatically during night creating voices which make me feel ashamed what could be possible reason.

Teeth grinding at night could be due to excessive stress during the day. You can have a night guard which you can wear while you sleep.

I have few symptoms for couple of days. Swollen groin, gum bleeding. What should I do. Feeling pain.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

Hi, teeth grinding (bruxism) is a psychosomatic disorder, usually a person is under heavy stress. Best remedy for this is to make lifestyle changes like regular exercise, reduce intake of coffee, tea at night, meditation and breathing exercise, etc. For dental consideration it affects muscles of jaw and teeth structure. Best thing is see you dentist and get night guards (thin puc trays that covers and cushions your teeth) and use them regularly.

How long root canal treatment works? I mean I heard that the cap opens and creates problems and destroy the RCT. Which leads to removal of teeth. And I checked on Google If RCT is not successfully done that may leads to some dangerous problem, is it true?

MDS
Dentist, Kolkata
It is difficult to comment on this, but a properly done RCT lasts long, sometimes the crown dislodges but not very frequently, there are certain restrictions to be followed after the capping.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning. You may consult me in person too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

You need to get an x ray for the offending tooth. There is a possibility that the infection might have returned in which case you may have to re do the root canal treatment.

For healthier teeth, flossing daily in a sawing motion is highly recommended. Take the floss to the point where the teeth meet the gums.

I have teeth related problems. I have cavities in my molars on both sides on the upper dental. I have also my gums bleeding occasionally. Thank you.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Lybrate-user, you need to visit your dentist at the earliest and get your teeth cleaned. This should take care of your gum bleeding. For the cavities, your dentist may suggest a filling or further treatment after examining the decayed teeth. To avoid such situations it is advised to visit your dentist every six months for a regular checkup.

Tooth Erosion - 9 Ways You Can Prevent it

BDS

Tooth Erosion - 9 Ways You Can Prevent it

Maintaining good oral hygiene is the key for enhanced gum and dental health. Tooth erosion is characterised by decay of the outer and inner parts of the teeth. It occurs when certain sugar containing foods such as milk, candy and cakes leave behind residual quantities, thus causing small food particles to get stuck to and remain in the teeth. These are then digested by the bacteria in the mouth and converted to acids. The acids in combination with saliva form a layer called plaque that causes tooth erosion.

To prevent tooth erosion, you can employ these simple methods:

  1. Regular flossing: Flossing is an often neglected aspect of dental hygiene. Flossing helps in removing food residues stuck between the teeth that your toothbrush cannot clean. Use proper technique while flossing as improper technique can damage your gums.
  2. Brushing twice a day: You should brush at least twice a day with toothpaste that contains fluoride. If possible, brush regularly after eating a meal.
  3. Eat well balanced meals: Eat well balanced meals for your gums to receive proper nourishment. Include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet as they are rich in antioxidants and vitamins. These antioxidants and vitamins help maintain overall gum and dental health.
  4. Fluoridated water: Drink fluoridated water, as it helps in preventing tooth erosion.
  5. Use Mouthwash regularly: Use an antiseptic mouthwash to keep your mouth bacteria free. Bacteria in your mouth can lead to rapid tooth erosion.
  6. Rinse your mouth: Rinse your mouth with water after every meal. Rinsing helps in removing food particles from your mouth that may contribute to tooth erosion.
  7. Avoid junk food: Avoid snacking on junk foods as they contain hidden sugars that can increase your risks of tooth erosion. Avoid sugar based drinks as they can harm your teeth and cause cavities.
  8. Dental sealants: A sealant is a coating that is applied on the tooth to prevent it from getting affected by plaque. They usually last for 8-10 years after which they need to be replaced.
  9. Visit the dentist regularly: Visit the dentist on a regular basis for check-ups as any underlying issue that can create potential problems in the future may need to be resolved.

I am 22 year old and my problem is I am smoking 3 cigarette per day now after six month of smoking my mouth becomes waterless why is it happening?

BDS
Dentist, Kanchipuram
Hi smoking will cause dryness of the mouth. Smoking badly hurts the salivary glands which is necessary for salivation in turn for the wetness od the mouth. Rather as you know smoking will cause very serious irreparable damage to soft tissues in the mouth.

Black spots on your teeth indicates deposits n you need to get scalling done. Black spots on your gums or its dark color can b due to chronic infection of gums caused due to reduced blood flow. Dettachement of your gums frm teeth also indicates gum problem. Consult a dentist in person for detecting the cause n guide you through the treatment.

All individuals requires scaling (cleaning) to be done atleast once in 6 months to maintain our oral hygiene clean. Our toothbrush is not much finely designed to clean all the plaque and calculi in the interdental areas of the teeth, which is the area where most of the calculus accumulate much and has to be removed regularly using scalers by the dentist. So pls do visit a dentist for scaling.

If blood sugar levels fasting is between 108 to 125 mg and pp 141 to 199 mg /100 ml, is considered as pre diabetes, or impaired glucose tolerance (igt). At this level diabetes can be prevented by restricted diet, exercise and maintaining normal weight. For gums to become healthy, regular massaging of gums and taking vitamin supplements and maintaining oral hygiene is very important.

Mouth ulcers mouth ulcers can vary is size, shape and number. Mouth ulcers are self limiting, which means they heal naturally by themselves. The medications are only to ease the pain and burning sensation during the course of the healing. Please do not self prescribe any medications as it might at times delay the healing of the ulcer. Please visit the dentist to know exactly the type of the ulcer and its treatment. To ease the pain you cud by a topical anaesthetic gel and apply it before eating anything spicy. Try to reduce the stress, avoid long exposure to sunlight, avoid carbonated drinks and citrus fruits and juices containing citric acid, avoid lemon with food and keep urself hydrated. Please visit the dentist for exact diagnosis and treatment. I hope I have answered your question.
