Since your tooth is paining, you have to undergo root canal treatment (rct). After successful rct, cap/crown is placed to strengthen the tooth as tooth becomes brittle after rct. So naturally cap is required for strengthening left over part of tooth and it also helps to restore the function of tooth properly.

My teeth is in yellow in colour. I have used many tooth paste but there is no difference. I do not know what to do. C...
Yellowish teeth teeth changes its colour as we all age due to dietary habits ie, carbonated drinks contain colours, red wine, few fruit juices (pomegranate, raspberry, cranberry, etc.), tea, coffee, turmeric used for foods sometimes depending on the area you reside the increased amount of iron in your water can also discolour your teeth. Lets understand this better, tooth has a top layer called" enamel" - white layer tooth has the layer beneath this called" dentine"- yellow layer enamel is white- white layer dentine is yellow- yellow layer if you see all the young kids, including you during your younger age will have white teeth. Due to the presence is more of white layer. As we advance with age the teeth change its colour to yellowish. Because the white layer becomes thin and the yellow layer shows from inside. So this is natural and nothing to worry about it. Well apart from this the foods we consume as I mentioned earlier can also stain the teeth which needs professional cleaning by the dentist. But professional cleaning will take away the stain on the surface but not whiten your teeth. Yes there are proceedures like" bleaching, done with caution can whiten your teeth. Please discuss this with your dentist. Caution: please do not use any whitening products for teeth sold online or in shops as they can be more abrasive and acidic making the teeth loose its luster and also make it more yellowish over a period of time also do not try home remedies like baking soda, lime, salt, vinegar as these are highly acidic and abrasive and will make your teeth rough as well as loose the white layer of your teeth more quickly. Please visit your dentist for professional help and discussion I hope I clarified you.

Hi swelling in gum is the indication of gum disease known as gingivitis with plaque deposition. Rinse your mouth with chlorhexidine mouthwash. Go for investigation and if plaque is there you should go for scaling. Brush regularly two times daily with soft bristle gently. Rinse your mouth after each meal. Floss your tooth to prevent food impaction.

Hi. I'm near about 20 year old. My teeth effective from cavity. It show high sensitivity.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Hi.
I'm near about 20 year old.
My teeth effective from cavity.
It show high sensitivity.
A major cause of tooth sensitivity is root exposure. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning along with desensitizing procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Until then apply a desensitizing paste (sensodyne tooth paste) on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min until you brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight will be better. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Hello lybrate-user your teeth is sensitive to cold, that means either your teeth are having cavities or they are having deposits causing to the root surface to get exposed leading to sensitivity to cold, or you are practicing wrong brushing technique, you are doing harsh brushing causing the upper protective layer that is enamel to wear off leading exposure of dentinal tubules causing sensitivity to cold. If there is cavity, or cervical abrasions go for fillings, if cavity is deep enough causing pulpal exposure, you might b needing root canal treatment. And if deposits are there, go for scaling (professional cleaning). To slove these problem please visit dentist.

Hello, from the above description it seems that the gums are weak due to deposits between your teeth. So get a cleaning done from the dentist to keep the gums healthy. Also, get a full mouth x-ray done to check the bone support. If it is less, you need to go for splinting. Ask your dentist for it.

How I can protect my teeth for long life, which toothpaste is better. Please help me.
Dear you can protect your teeth by keeping good oral hygiene. Doing regular brushing of teeth. Visiting dental surgeon every six months. Get a well planned scaling and polishing procedure will remove plaque and leave your teeth feeling nice and smooth. This will also prevent bacteria sticking to them (which they are able to on teeth with a rough surface) which can lead to the build up of tartar. And, it will help to prevent gum disease, and keep teeth healthy. All paste are good. Crest fresh mint is a good tooth paste.

I have rct of my tooth 4 year ago. But now mild pain start in that tooth. Not continuously but when I chew something. I consult doc. He said that your rct is not done properly. So he advice me re RCT. What should I do. please guide me.

I have rct of my tooth 4 year ago. But now mild pain start in that tooth. Not continuously but when I chew something....
Hello lybrate-user, your case appears to be that of a failed root canal treatment (rct). Ideally, in an rct-treated tooth, there is no vital tissue or nerve that can cause pain. However, in your case, it seems as if the procedure was not done properly. Taking pain killers will only provide transient relief. Most likely, you will be required to undergo a re-rct to get permanent riddance from this problem. Before initiating the re-rct, however, you will be required to take a 3-day course of medication.

I have a teeth problem all over the mouth and sensitivity problem also available.

I have a teeth problem all over the mouth and sensitivity problem also available.
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

Dear patient, there is no need to re do the crown for 7, unless your wisdom tooth is not get locked/blocked underneath its distal end. Infact in that worse case too, wisdom tooth can skilfully be removed without disturbing the crown on 7. Remember:- skillfully (u need an experienced surgeon for that)

Hi, we need to see the lesion first and than discuss whether it can cause cancer or not. There is cancer called malignant melanoma related with it and it can occur in the mouth too. You should not worry. If you have the lesion on skin than visit a dermatologist and if in mouth, visit an oral medicine specialist. Whenever there is doubt, this lesion can be removed and biopsied. If your melanoplakia is absolutely fine, than we can leave it as it is. Regards.
