Graded exercise training, use ice to reduce your knee inflammation. Avoid walking for now. Once you knee get strengthen you can start walking. Start all non weight bearing exercise, means exercises which doesn't load your knees. Hope I answer the question regards.

My wife aged about 44 years is having acute pain on her both knee joints and calf muscles. I consulted couple of doctors (ortho) who said she is suffering from arthritis and advised some exercise and prescribed some medicines but with very very little result. Please advise me how to get rid of her pain & suffering.

Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. In case it continues consult a acupuncture/acupressure dr. In your place. Also take calcium tablets for a limited period 2 months. Exercises should not be painful to perform. Aim to work within the pain free range of motion. We recommend seeking professional advice before attempting any anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation exercises. Exercisesfor knee and to maintain its mobility includes: 1Knee flexion & extension Following an anterior cruciate ligament injury it is common for the patient to have difficulty straightening the leg. Gently bend and straighten the knee to keep it mobile and try to improve range of motion. You can do this in sitting, standing or lying, however you are most comfortable. Don't push it into pain, only do what you can comfortably achieve. Repeat 10 to 20 times. Repeat the set 3 times a day until full mobility is restored. 2Heel slides Lie on your back and bend the knee ensuring the foot stays in contact with the floor. Repeat 10 to 20 times. Slight discomfort may be felt but not pain. This exercise can also be done by using a towel or similar to assist in pulling the leg in. Play heel slide knee mobility video 3Hamstring stretch Hamstring stretches can be done in a number of ways either sitting, standing or lying down. Gently take the leg to the limit of its comfortable range until a gentle stretch is felt at the back of the thigh. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds and relax - you can search on utube for hamstring stretch 4Groin stretch This exercise stretches the adductor muscles on the inside of the thigh. Sit on the floor with both legs out straight, as far apart as you comfortably can. Lean forwards from the hips until you feel a gentle stretch in the groin area. Hold for 20-30 seconds - Strengthening exercises Strengthening exercises can also begin as soon as pain allows. The further you can get with strengthening exercises prior to surgery then the more likely you are to have a faster recovery post operation. 5 Isometric quadriceps exercise Contract the knee muscles and hold for 5 to 10 seconds. Relax for about 3 seconds and repeat 10 to 20 times. U can also place towel roll and press it till you count 30 do these exercises 2 - 3 tomes daily.

I am 58 years old. I have pain in my knees whenever I climb a slope or staitrs. My blood uric acid count is 9. 0. How do I bring down my uric acid ?

Hi, I would recommend you to take 2 litres of water /day to bring down your uric acid level. For your knee pain is concerned, I would recommend you to visit nearby physiotherapy centre to take pain relieving modalities, and once your pain subsides start doing strengthening exercises. Its better to continue exercises regularly through out your life for being healthy. If you are obese, try to reduce weight gradually. Dont try to go for any supplements to reduce weight. Check your uric acid level and creatine levels next month to avoid complications of kidney. Regards rekha srinath

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

Dear lybrate-user your weight is fine according to your height. You might be suffering from a consition called plantar fasiatis. The leg muscles tend to get tight with time as well as get weak with time. You need to start wd excersises soon as well as spme easy precautions. N knee pain might be due to muscle weakness nothing to worry about. You can do well with exercises.

I was leading a very active life. I used to play badminton continuously for 2 hours and never felt any problem. Suddenly one day I felt pain in my knee. Thinking it due to overuse of my muscles, I took ARNICA 1M 2-3 doses followed by BRYONIA 1M and RHUS TOX 1M on fortnightly basis. Now I got it checked and I am told that is early arthritis. If you have trouble only in the first few movements and then you can walk properly, then take Rhus Tox 30C. If you cannot move at all or slightest motion cause you pain, then take Bryonia 30C. If you can't move and cannot bear it to be touched at all. And there is a bruised feeling, then take Arnica 30C. If all this doesn't help, then consult a homeopath for proper prescription.

Hi sir I have 1 doubts. My mom have knee problem so doctors told to take calcium tablets. After 1 month my mom got extra 8 KG weight. So my mom planned to stop that tablets. In online also I saw like people who r taking calcium tablets they will get extra weight too. Tablet Name: Calcium with Alfacalcidol Tablets (SHELCAL-OS). My doubt is I am 25 I am always looks very thin. I am want to gain weight. So if I take this tablets any side effect will come? This is for calcium right .so shall I take without any reason? hi. generally wt gain is not related to calcium intake. there are many other factors dt control it. a simple logic to explain it can be increasing calcium levels in bones which can cause minimal weight gain. however, u taking calcium will not help u gain weight. u need to consult a doctor privately in order to help urself

My mother of 78 years age has knee pain. After x ray, doctor advised that she has wear out of the knee joint, and may require knee replacement. She is currently very reluctant to undergo surgery. Any other options?
