What is the cause for hole in teeth. Is this lack of calcium ?

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS

Food particles get stuck on teeth leading to bacterial colonization. Acid production. Dissolving of enamel. Leading to cavity formation. Cavity once formed can be treated only by fillings by a dentist. As it wont heal on its own even if you brush thoroughly.

Kindly get scaling and polishing done and brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique. If you still want more whitish teeth you can get bleaching done.

I get frequently mouth ulcers. What should i do?
There are so many causes of mouth ulcers like- -stress or tissue injury is thought to be the cause of simple mouth ulcers. -certain foods, including citrus or acidic fruits and vegetables (such as lemons, oranges, pineapples, apples, figs, tomatoes and strawberries), can trigger a mouth ulcer. -sometimes a sharp tooth surface also trigger mouth ulcers. -some cases of complex mouth ulcers are caused by an underlying health condition, such as an impaired immune system; nutritional problems, such as vitamin b-12, zinc, folic acid, or iron deficiency and gastrointestinal tract disease, such as coeliac disease and crohn's disease. -when you first quit smoking, you may develop more mouth ulcers than normal, but this is temporary. Usually ulcer heals by itself only within 1 week. You can take'becosule capsule' once in a day for 1 week for faster recovery. Temporarily you can apply mucopain gel over ulcer for relief.

My wife is suffering from high BP since last 10 years. Her bp pattern remains in range 170/90 for about one month. We have been monitoring regularly at home. She takes a pill LODOS 2.5. Also she has been taking garlic pills. However it never reduces below this level. She is quite reluctant to visit a doctor. Also she has lost 70%of her teeth still she does nt want to visit dental surgeon for treatment. Is this could be a reason for her high blood pressure. Please help.

Hii. The antihypertensive drugs can be the cause for the loss of teeth. Actually what happens is the antihypertensive drugs causes increase in the size of gingiva. Leading to difficulties in maintaining proper oral hygiene. That eventually leads to tooth loss.

Eat lot of fruits & green leafy vegetables & drink plenty of water. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need coronoplasty (smoothen teeth edges) along with t. Rebagen 10, morning one tab & one at night for 5 days, c. Becosules 5 cap, for five days in the morning after meals. Hexigel ointment on the area of ulcer. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

How to overcome from ulcer?

Ask Free Question
Hi mouth ulcers are common and arise from verious causes like local irritation from sharp/chipped teeth, dentures, wrong brushing techniques, broken crowns and accidental damage. These do not need special treatment and will heal well within a week's time. Otc products like mouth ulcer gels wil help a little. For more long standing ulcers prescription medicines from your dentist should be taken. Also a dental consultation will rule out any more serious causes like mouth fungal infection, vitamin deficiency, systemic diseases like lichen planus, sle etc or sometimes a pre-cancerous/ suspected cancerous ulceration requiring more detailed examination, probably with a biopsy. Do consult a dentist for ulcers that recurr frequently.

Teeth bleaching is temporary modality like face bleaching. And in severe flourosis case it may not work sufficiently .cost starting from 6-10k. For permanent option, you can go ceramic veneers or crown which costs starts from 5-7k per tooth.

I am suffering severe throat infection and also blood is coming during tongue cleaning and brushing.
Bleeding during brushing may be due to weak gums. Gums may become weak due lack of vitamins, presence of tartar, infection present in the gums. Throat infection may arise due to infection acquired from the environment. Sometimes if you are having gastric problem like acid reflux, the acid may irritate the throat. Thismay also be felt like throat infection. Kindly consult your dentist for gum problem and he also may diagnose your throat problem and he may refer you to an ent doctor if needed.

Tongue cleaning is as important as brushing and flossing. Use of a proper tongue scraper every morning will remove tongue plaque and freshen your breath.

What is good treatment for leukoplakia. I have grey patch in inside my cheeks.

It may not necessarily be leukoplakia. There are many other conditions which may mimic leukoplakia. If you r using tobacco in any form, you must immediately stop that. Get a thorough evaluation done. In many conditions, quitting the habit alone will subside the condition. In case it is not leukoplakia, but other condition like leukoedema or linea alba, you dont have to undergo any treatment. Those are harmless conditions.
