Gingivitis, one of the mild form of gum diseases occurs because of the inflammation of the gums. By brushing and flossing daily, along with getting dental cleaning done regularly, it can be easily reversed.

I have a bleeding gums problem. Please give suggestions.

BDS
Dentist,
Hi, Gum bleeding can be due to various factors. After proper Examination by your dentist U will come to know the exact cause of it. Main and basic reasons for Your Gum Bleeding problem are Plaque/calculus/tartar deposits present in your teeth . These factors cause gum inflammation known as gingivitis which leads to swollen and bleeding gums. Apart from this other reasons could be Improper alignment of the teeth Deficiency of Vitamin C (also known as Scurvy) Prolonged use of Some medications like Aspirin, Underlying systemic conditions like bleeding disorders.(very very rare possibility) It is advisable to visit a dentist and get proper Treatment done which may include scaling(i.E. Professional cleaning) & or flap surgery to avoid loss of teeth in long run. Also Scaling is to be done every 6 months as a routine maintainance procedure for healthy teeth and strong Gums. Regards, Dr. Hiten Shah Swastik Dental Care. 9768400204.

Having carrot and lemon juice is best to have it in morning. It is good. But better have it empty stomach in morning and do not eat or drink anything for half hour after having that. To make it more beneficial. Take care. :)

Use Homeodent toothpaste twice daily, morning and night before sleep. Home remedy:- Cleaning your teeth with fresh orange peel on a regular basis will reduce the yellow tinge accumulated on your teeth. Rub orange peel over your teeth every night before going to sleep. The vitamin C and calcium in the orange peel will combat the microorganisms throughout the night.Do this for a few weeks and you will notice effective results. If fresh orange peel is not available, you can use dried orange peel powder. Take care.

All About Taking Care Of Your Tongue

All About Taking Care Of Your Tongue

Your tongue not only helps you in tasting, kissing, chewing or talking, but also helps in maintaining good oral health and hygiene. Since your tongue is exposed to a lot of bacteria and acid while you eat, taking proper care of it is of utmost importance. Not doing so can lead to the development of a whitish layer over your tongue, along with giving rise to bad breath. Not only that, an excess of bacteria on your tongue is harmful for your teeth and can cause tooth decay.

When you clean your tongue properly, you enhance your sense of taste and bid adieu to a host of oral health problems. Here are some handy tips on taking care of your tongue:

  1. Cleaning your tongue every time you brush with a tongue cleaner can put an end to bacteria growth in your mouth. Make sure to use either a tongue cleaner or a toothbrush with a dedicated tongue cleaner to clean your tongue. Also, clean your tongue in a downward motion to expel all the accumulated bacteria, and never apply a lot of pressure when doing so.
  2. Apply a thin layer of your toothpaste on your tongue before cleaning it. This makes removing bacteria from your tongue that much easier.
  3. After every time you're done cleaning your tongue, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water. Also, make sure to use a mouthwash once in a while, as that keeps foul odour at bay. Although, using a mouthwash daily is not advised as it can cause dryness in the mouth.
  4. A saline water solution to rinse your mouth can keep your tongue clean. All you need is a glass of lukewarm water with half a teaspoon of salt for this.
  5. Drinking green tea is particularly good for your tongue as it reduces the bacteria in your mouth to a great extent, preventing various oral health problems as a result.
  6. Foods that are high on natural or added colours (such as berries, black grapes or orange ice popsicles) should be avoided as they leave a thin layer of color behind on your tongue, which can mar its appearance.
  7. Sometimes, a whitish layer on your tongue can be a sign of a fungal infection, in which case you should go for a professional clean-up.
  8. Drinking lots of water is good for your tongue as it helps in washing out all the accumulated food and bacteria. Also, discoloration of the tongue can often be caused by dehydration, which is why drinking adequate amounts of water that is 10-12 glasses a day is vital.

Dentist,
I have a pain in the inner of mouth in last teeth. What can i do?
The pain in the last teeth xould be because of following reasons 1. Erupting third molar 2. Infection around the partially erupted/stuck tooth 3. Decay in the tooth 4. Pressure from impacted tooth on the adjacent tooth. Either the gums around tooth needs to be cut or the tooth needs to be removed.

Root Canal: How to Deal With Pain Post Procedure

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Root Canal: How to Deal With Pain Post Procedure

When the pulp or soft tissue inside a tooth has been damaged by bacterial infection, a root canal is performed, cleaning the infection and filling in the emptied space.

When performing a root canal, the dentist will remove the nerves and pulp within the tooth, clean the inside of the tooth and seal it.

After this procedure your tooth will not sense anything and should be pain free. However, in some cases you may still experience pain after root canal and there are four main causes of this pain:

  1. Phantom pain: Phantom pain is rare when it comes to root canal. This occurs when the nerve leading up to the tooth still behaves like it were connected to the tooth despite the nerve within the tooth being completely removed. The peripheral nerves will need to be treated to resolve this issue. In most cases, these events cannot be prevented.
  2. Swelling of ligament around the tooth: One of the signs that you need a root canal is swelling of the gums. Even after the nerves and pulp within the tooth are removed, the ligaments around the infected tooth may still be swollen. This can take some time before the tissue is normal again. In most cases this is the cause for pain after a root canal procedure.
  3. Damaged tissue: Part of the root canal procedure is to clean the insides of the tooth. Here the dentist must be very careful to not go beyond the tooth. In some cases the file used to clean the tooth may go beyond the root and damage the tissue there. Another possibility is that the sealant used to fill the tooth may go beyond the root, thus aggravating the tissue. This can take some time to heal and may cause pain.
  4. Excess filling: After the tooth has been cleaned, the dentist fills the tooth with a sealant. If excessive sealant is filled in the tooth, it may become taller than the surrounding teeth, which puts extra pressure on the tooth and results in soreness and pain. The dentist will have to remove the excess sealant in order to resolve this issue.

My gums smells very bad. What should I do?

Advanced Aesthetics, BDS
Dentist,
Hi, there are various reasons of bad breath, like impurities in blood, inefficient digestive system, dry mouth (lack of saliva production), gum disease, cavities, plaque and tartar formation around teeth and gums, kind of diet, improper brushing / cleaning of mouth etc. I would advise you to get a thorough physical and dental examination to rule out the cause of bad breath and to solve it permanently.
