It must be investigated. Get a MRI of the knee. You would probably need arthroscopic knee surgery. It is a very safe procedure in our hands with uniformly good results.

Please tell me are you on regular treatment with thyroxine tablets for hypothyroidism or have discontinued the treatment on your own? high tsh levels signify that thyroid gland is not functioning adequately, not producing thyroxine hormone and hence anterior pituitary produces more tsh to stimulate thyroid gland. Hypothyroidism affects all the metabolic activities adversely. Can only be corrected by proper replacement of thyroxine.

This could be due to oa knee &/or obesity. X rays of both knee joints (digital) physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikid plus (mankind) 1 tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Don't ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I am 54 years old man. 2 years back I had pain in my left thigh. I could walk and run but on rotating or twisting the leg it would pain. X-ray indicated all normal. It was not localized at specific point on thigh. Doctors gave pain killers which I avoided. Pain was bearable. Since I travel by bus frequently, I presumed it could be because of that. The pain in thigh remand for a year moving from one spot to other by an inch only ( or can be said could not find specific point of pain on thigh). Suddenly one fine morning I had shooting pain on my right arm. I took pain killer that day and after 2-3 hours it vanished but next day the pain started on my left arm - bearable. This pain continued for few months. There was no pain in thigh. Now there is no visible pain any where but if I press with fingers the left toe (foot)in the top middle I feel sweet pain. This is for the past one month. Changed the shoes as well as wear loose shoes but slight pain is their. Bus travel is continuing. What is it all about. I believe some nerve get pressed behind my neck while travelling as I lean my neck on the back of the seat. Please give your advise.

Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am dr akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Please your symptoms actually do not correspond to any issues in the cervical spine per se because you have not mentioned any radiating pain in upper or lower limbs for a long period. Please kindly elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your neck pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any radiation of pain in upper limbs or lower limbs or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias ( electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

I am a woman of about 51 years, having diabetes treatment regularly. Once a year, when the season changes from winter to summer in the months of March-April, I get pain in the back followed by acute pain in the lower back side, abdomen, corner of thighs and neck. With time, the pain increases and becomes so acute that I couldn't even move out of my bed without any help. For relief, I take painkillers and hot fomentation regularly but the pain eases a little bit and then again increases. I also get constipation with backache, say I go to pass stools after two days often. It usually happened to me during my young age also but that time, pain remains for two- three days only and after taking lot of bed rest and fomentation, I am relieved. But not the condition is becoming worse day by day. After my periods are stopped in the beginning of 2014, the pain is critical. I regularly take shelcal and calcijoint (once a week) along with diabetes tablet. Kindly guide me what precautions to take and which tablets to continue so that the worse situation doesn't come in the next changing season. Thanks in advance!

It seem like beginning of Rheumatoid arthritis. Take enough water daily and regular exercise which will improve your situation. More sweat by exercise will ease and reduce the workload of kidney. Kidney is not only meant for filter it has so many function which can be performed only when its workload is less. Rheumatism is a kind autoimmune disorder which mean our own antibodies will start to attack our own body cell. which can be happened during diabetes where more sugar are not oxidized will become lactic acid which will be stored in knee joints and lower part of leg and which make you feel more heavy when you start to walk once after sleep. I suggest for regular exercise and more physical activity. Take care

I am suffering from severe leg pain what are the steps to be taken to avoid this?
Pain in the legs can occur as a result of conditions that affect bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, nerves, or skin. Leg pain can occur in the foot, ankle, knee, behind the knee, thigh, down the back of the leg, or in any part of the leg. It can occur at night, while lying down, or while running or exercising, depending upon the cause. Typically, the leg pain is a result of tissue inflammation that is caused by injury or disease. Either injury or chronic disease can cause inflammation to any of the tissues of the leg and lead to leg pain. Since the leg contains a number of different structures and tissue types, a wide variety of conditions and injuries can cause leg pain. Depending on the cause of the pain, other symptoms, like weakness, numbness, throbbing, cramps, aching, or a tingling sensation, may accompany leg pain. Diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage fromdiabetes) is a common cause of tingling, burning, and numbness in the legs that can at times be painful. For diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, it is important to differentiate the exact type and location of any pain in the legs. Peripheral artery disease can cause claudication, or pain that occurs in the legs usually whenwalking or exercising. Blood clots (deep vein thrombosis) can be another cause of leg pain. Pain in the knee and ankle joints of the leg is common with the arthritis conditions. The pain of sciatica (from disc disease of the spine) may radiate down the leg and is another common cause of leg pain. Homoeopathic medicines if taken based on symptom similarity will give you a quick and permanent cure.

Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of having hair fall and also to have leg pain without any injury or any other reasons. You also might become tired due to this. Anaemia always leads to poor oxygen levels in the blood and it comes down automatically leads to improper functioning of the joints and muscles. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there are no issues with the knee joint or back pain.
