The lifestyle we lead plays an important role. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important to overcome many diseases as it helps in bringing the blood pressure to normal and in turn reduce the risks of diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension. Factors like smoking, diet, stress and sedentary lifestyle can lead to hypertension and diabetes. Hypertension is known as silent killer as it is symptomless.

There are various traditional medicines known to lower the blood pressure. Also, there are certain herbs that help in controlling blood pressure and preventing other diseases.

Some of these herbs are:

  1. Basil: This herb has a strong aroma and can be used in the preparation of many foods. It also helps in lowering the blood pressure, though for a brief time. Adding freshly chopped or torn basil to soups, salads, pastas and casseroles not only enhance the taste but are also beneficial for health.
  2. Cinnamon: This herb requires some effort to add in the diet, but is helpful in maintain the blood pressure. Diabetic people should have cinnamon everyday in some or the other way. Cinnamon can be included by sprinkling over cereals, oats, coffee, stews and curries.
  3. Cardamom: Cardamom if consumed daily can be helpful in bringing down blood pressure and in turn controlling hypertension and diabetes. Cardamom is very popular in South Asia, the seeds can be powdered and used in stews, soups or baking. It not only has an enhanced flavor but is also packed with numerous health benefits.
  4. Flaxseed: This is very rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are believed to lower the blood pressure and also protect the body against atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. They are known for reducing cholesterol levels, and improving glucose tolerance thus acting as antioxidant. Flaxseeds can be added in smoothies and soups or baked goods.
  5. Garlic: Garlic often synonymous with bad breath and pungent seasoning has immense health benefits. It dilates and relaxes the blood vessels allowing the blood to flow freely and in turn reduces the blood pressure. 
  6. Ginger: Adding ginger to the diet helps to control the blood pressure. It relaxes the blood vessels and improves the circulation of the blood. Ginger can be used in sweets, savories and beverages and is very common in Asian food.
  7. Celery Seed: This is a diuretic and in China it is used to treat hypertension. This can be used to flavor stews, soups, savory dishes and casseroles. Both the seeds and the plant have various benefits and uses of their own.
  8. Hawthorn: This herb is used to treat high blood pressure in China. Decoctions of the herb have health benefits such as reduction of blood pressure, controlling hypertension and blood circulation.

You should consult a chest physician or pulmonologist. He will examine you get some test done like an x ray, some blood tests etc and then we can advise some treatment.

You don't have high blood pressure at the moment, but it is slightly above optimal. Single readings are not diagnostic. Optimal BP is <120/80. It would be wise to adopt a healthy lifestyle, such as eating healthily, reduce salt in your diet, exercise, lose weight if overweight, limit alcohol consumption and stop smoking if you smoke. The good thing about exercise is that it reduces the strain on the heart and also raises your HDL (good cholesterol) as well as improving circulation. Now with regards to exercise, the best type of exercise for the heart is aerobic activity which ensures the large groups of muscles in the body get a good work out. Swimming is good, as is brisk walking, dancing and cycling, etc. With regards to diet, as I mentioned before, limit salt consumption and the amount of saturated fats you eat. Also limit the amount of complex carbs you eat. Try and eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day * and also try and eat 3 portions of oily fish per week. Try and avoid frying your food, grill it instead. Switch to olive oil. The key is moderation, you can eat anything you like providing you don't go OTT. * A recent study showed that eating your "5 a day" fruit and vegetables may not cut the cancer risk. Many people have interpreted this study into meaning that eating your "5 a day" fruit and vegetables isn't beneficial at all and that what Doctors and Nurses have been advising patients is incorrect. This isn't accurate. The study just looked at the diet-cancer link (which we already knew wasn't very strong anyway), it didn't look at the other health benefits that eating fruit and vegetables has. But that study has certainly given the alties and their "special cancer curing diet" food for thought! There are various causes of high blood pressure, but proper diet and regular exercise are definitely the biggest part of the equation. “ Actually there are two types, essential and secondary, the latter accounts for about 5% of cases and can be caused by kidney and/or hormone issues. Most people have “essential” hypertension where the cause is less than clear. We know that a poor diet, obesity, excess alcohol, smoking and lack of exercise are major risk factors. Diet and lifestyle changes often helps and is sometimes enough to keep patients off anti-hypertensive medication.

Prevention is the mantra, eat in moderation, exercise in moderation and reduce stress. No smoking or exposure to pollution. No stress. Moderate exercise. Basic tests for heart done like halter and ecg and blood for sugar and lipids get back here with reports. You will get more guidance from any of us here on the forum.

Hello, you should not join the gym, but can go for a morning walk daily. Take the regular medicine for bp and follow these home remedy:- 1. Bananas are one fruit that people with high blood pressure can eat regularly to control it. Bananas are a rich source of potassium, which lessens the effect of sodium. So, try to eat one or two bananas daily. Along with bananas, you can try dried apricots, raisins, orange juice, spinach, baked sweet potatoes. 2. Eat one or two crushed garlic cloves daily. You can simply crush them with your hands. Crushing garlic cloves creates hydrogen sulfide, a compound that promotes good blood flow, removes gas and reduces the pressure on the heart. If you do not like eating raw garlic or if it causes a burning sensation, then take it along with a cup of milk. You can also mix five or six drops of garlic juice in four teaspoons of water and take it twice a day.

It is definitely taken care of if you take proper lifestyle changes, diet restrictions like low salt diet, no alcohol and smoking .Moreover if not then allopathic medicines can control them.

The total cholesterol need to be controlled. You need a scheduled diet plan and start taking olive oil in regular use as soon as possible.

Apart from taking symptomatic treatment take Tablet folvite 5mg once a day for six months and tablet vitamin D3 60000iu once a week for six months and exercise regularly

Hello, CHEST PAIN in your case may be due to 1.acidity. 2. severe anxiety 3. muscular problem A. You can take Tablet Pantocid 40 mg one tablet before food for 3 days B. Hello, your blood pressure values are on the higher side but need not to worry . you should cut short your salt intake , drink plenty of water and go for a morning walk at least one hour. Keep a watch on your BP until it comes to normal.

The choice of anti anxiety drug to be used depend son severity of the anxiety, it's type, duration and relation with any stressors or biological problems like heart diseases, headaches, hormone imbalances etc. I would advise you not to make any wild guesses about treatment options and consider visiting a psychiatrist personally. Amixide h is used for anxiety but may not always be useful.

5. Plenty of water. 6. Proteins - Limit the intake of Proteins. 7. Eat diet rich in Fruits. 8. Limit Alcohol intake - Avoid if possible. 9. Reduce Sea Food , Organ Meats , Glandular meat  10. 1. Systolic bp is the presure that blood exerts on walls of arteries during heart contractions. Its normal range is 120-139 mm of hg. Diastolic bp is the pressure of blood on walls of arteries when the heart is at rest between contractions. Its normal range is 80-89 mm of hg. So the safe difference between both is apprx. 30-40 mm of hg 2. Although both r important but in topical countries like india systolic bpis more important as its increase indicates hypertension and its dangerous as most of the cases of high bp remains undetected due to poor knowledge of regular health chk ups nd ignorance in under developed countries like ours. 3. There is almost zero difference of bp in both arms. If there is a difference then it can be suggestive of some arterial disease. 4. According to me these imported gadgets r made according to western climate standards and there iss a possibility that readingss may vary in hot countries like ours. 5. If you r hper or hypotensive then a regular chk up of bp is required every week. If normal then check up after 3-4 months is required. 6 it depends. Firstly u must be having a strong knowledge of your problem, its limitations, nd what all u can do to overcome it, only then u can get rid of the medicine. Actually once hypertension is detected we indians start taking medicines on aregular basis without future consultations nd this is the start of problem. So be determined to avoid medicine as much as u can but for that proper knowledge is required. Medicine is a must when u have a problem but dont be a slave of these medicines but take their help timebeingly as our body has a power of self healing. Actually we r weak and underestimate ourselves.
