Hi, as my family doctor prescription, my period's 2nd day onwards I was taken FERTYL 100 MG tablet regularly 5 days, after that my doctor is observing the egg growth for every 3 days, after 14 days my doctor told to me egg growth is very less, so please suggest how can I improve egg growth?

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
During this 90 day period before an egg reaches full maturation, the eggs are changing and preparing for ovulation. At this time they are affected by both healthy or unhealthy influences. Contributing factors to egg health are: Blood Flow Proper oxygenation Hormonal Balance Nutritional intake Stress These are the factors you’ll want to focus on when increasing the health of your eggs. Let’s look at each factor closer, and examine how you can have an impact on that area…you have to consider the above factor also. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user This case history of yours show that recurrent miscarriages in your case need evaluation. There are numerous factors which are responsible for such events. They need a proper investigation and treatment. I would suggest "do not go by internet info" about baby aspirin and other things. Investigations and treatment are always customized according to the cause found. All miscarriages are not treated with the same treatment methodology. I suggest you consult a gynaecologist experienced in recurrent miscarriages. Hope this helps you.

7 Foods You Should Eat to Boost Your Energy Levels

7 Foods You Should Eat to Boost Your Energy Levels

There are times when you feel extremely fatigued and tired. This could be because of the type of foods that you are consuming on a regular basis. Certain foods, when consumed tend to spike up your blood sugar level and make you feel sleepy and sloppy.

There are certain foods which you can have to boost your energy levels:

1. Vinegar: You can add vinegar to your food and salads to prevent your blood sugar levels from spiking. Vinegar is said to have properties that prevent excessive starch absorption in the body; it also keeps your metabolic rate elevated. Mix vinegar with a glass of water and have it after meals to prevent fatigue.

2. Fruits: Fruits can provide instant energy if you are feeling lethargic. Usually in the afternoon, eating a fruit such as an apple or a watermelon will provide an instant burst of energy. Make sure you keep your portion sizes under control; else too much sugar can mess with your system.

3. Nuts: Nuts are very healthy foods to snack upon as they contain heart healthy fats and Omega-3 acids. Nuts also contain proteins that are good for your muscles and fat loss goals. Being rich in fiber, they also promote satiety.

4. Dark chocolate: You can include small portions of dark chocolate for your dessert cravings after lunch as it contains “theobromine” which helps in boosting your mood and energy levels.

5. Whole grains: Include whole grains in your diet; avoid eating refined products such as white rice and refined flour. Refined carbohydrates can spike your blood sugar levels and lead to feeling of fatigue. Eating whole grains also provides a steady supply of energy to the body.

6. Cardamom: Add these spices to your dishes and tea as they are known to stimulate blood flow and increase energy levels in the body. It is known to expand the blood vessels in the body to increase blood flow.

7. Asparagus: Asparagus contains important vitamins that allow efficient conversion of sugar into energy. It also contains plenty of fibers that promote satiety. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Female Infertility - When Should You Actually Worry?

Gynaecologist, Panchkula
Female Infertility - When Should You Actually Worry?

Trying to get pregnant can go either ways for most couples that is it can be a breeze, or it can be a difficult process that ends up with lots of fertility clinic visits. While in some cases, the reasons for not being able to conceive may come down to male infertility, there are many cases where the reason may be female infertility too. In many other cases, both male and female infertility may be the cause.

Let us discuss female infertility in more details here.
When can it be called Infertility?

When a couple is not being able to conceive even after trying for a period of over a year, then a case can be made in favour of infertility. Infertility can result from females in at least one third of the cases, as per various medical studies. While the actual cause may be difficult to diagnose, there are many available treatments that one can use in order to fix the underlying issues.

When to Start Worrying?

Female infertility comes with many symptoms, while the main symptom may be the inability to conceive, the other symptoms include excessively long menstrual cycles that show signs of slowing down only after 35 days or so, or even cycles that are too short where they appear within 21 days. Irregular and absent periods can point at the lack of ovulation which is the main sign of infertility. Other than that, there are no outward signs of infertility as such apart from pelvic pain and cramping or heavy bleeding during periods. If you are 30 years of age, or younger, then you may want to see a doctor regarding irregular and absent periods, or the lack of conception even after trying for a year. Also, if you are between 35 and 40 years of age, you can discuss the inability to conceive with your doctor, after efforts for six months. If you have been trying to conceive and you are over 40 years of age, then the doctor will put you through tests on an immediate basis.

The Requirements for Conception?

In order to conceive, you will need to ovulate on a normal basis and have regular menstrual cycles as well as intercourse. Also, your fallopian tubes and uterus must be in normal working condition without any infections and other conditions.

Causes

There may be many causes for female infertility including ovarian faults like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hypothalamic dysfunction, premature ovarian insufficiency and excessive prolactin in the ovaries. Also, pelvic inflammation disorders that lead to damage of the fallopian tubes and other uterus related issues like endometriosis can lead to female infertility. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

I am suffering from itching, irritation n heavy curdy White discharge from my vagina. I even have burning sensation sometimes. I had this problem even before and reduced after going for medication. Am I suffering from yeast infections or any other problem? Is it dangerous? How can I overcome this problem? Why am attacked with this problem repeatedly?

MBBS, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology

Your symptoms describe a yeast/ candida infection which grows in moist warm media. Candid v6 pessary used over 6 nights will help. Stay dry, change underwear twice a day. If you have a family history of diabetes do get fasting and pp sugar blood tests done as this infection is common in people with sugars on higher side.

My friend had sex wid her bf on 9 june 2015 and she took unwanted 72 after one hour of sex. Her period date was on 13 june bt till now there is no bleeding occur. Please tell me what she will do she is so worried?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Vadodara
Hi, as per the date of contact that you have mentioned, pregnancy is less likely, but first it will better to do pregnancy test. As period date was 13th june, she can now get accurate result in pregnany test as it is already 1 week past her missed period. If pregnancy test is negative then undergo ultra sonography to rule out any other pathology. More over delay in period may also be due to intake of unwanted 72 as it causes hormonal imbalance in the body.

Causes Of Herpes!

MBBS, DDV
Dermatologist, Mumbai
Causes Of Herpes!

The herpes simplex virus is a contagious virus that can be passed from person to person through direct contact. Children will often contract HSV-1 from early contact with an infected adult. They then carry the virus with them for the rest of their lives.

HSV-1

Infection with HSV-1 can happen from general interactions such as:

  • Eating from the same utensils
  • Sharing lip balm
  • Kissing

The virus spreads more quickly when an infected person is experiencing an outbreak. Anywhere from 30 to 95 percent of adults are seropositive for HSV-1, though they may never experience an outbreak. It’s also possible to get genital herpes from HSV-1 if someone who performed oral sex had cold sores during that time.

HSV-2

HSV-2 is contracted through forms of sexual contact with a person who has HSV-2. It is estimated that around 20 percent of sexually active adults are infected with HSV-2. While HSV-2 infections are spread through contact with a herpes sore, it is assumed that most people get HSV-1 from an infected person who is asymptomatic, or does not have sores.

After unprotected sex. On my ovulation period what should I avoid to become pregnant. Please suggest.

DGO, MD, MRCOG, CCST, Accredation in Colposcopy

Take unwanted 72 or get a copper coil inserted. None of these may be 100% effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy though. So if you miss your next period please get a urine pregnancy test done.
