it might be the breast milk amount is less or the nipples retracted / not well formed. Consult and show your obstetrician. Take lactohil pwder twice daily with milk. Retracted nipples can be massaged and pulled out with vitamin E oil gradually

Neonatal jaundice usually settles on its own after few days and we can give polio vaccination once his vital parameters are stable

Hi doc, my son is 1 year 4 months old. My question is regarding avg sleep hours for this age babies. He hardly sleeps 9 hours in night and in between also wakes up in crying mood. Can you please give me some info on this so that I can come over my worry?

Pediatrician, Pune
Dont worry sleep peacefully and let your child also sleep comfortably, avg sleep varies from person to person and even in same person in different times of the year, trying to make any changes in the natural sleep hours causes further problems, but see that the child sleeps in quite dark room with minimal disturbance, mostly at the same time of night ~ 9- 10 pm, please do not keep tv in the bedroom, an undisturbed good sleep is the best tonic for the bay for good growth and keeping him / her happy

My son is 4 Yrs old. By birth he had the problem of transposed great arteries. It was corrected in amrita hospital ernakulam in his first month itself. We have yearly check up and the doctors said his echo result is gud. His growth rate is satisfactory. The actual problem is that his food habit. About 2 Yrs he ate all kinds of food. But for 2 Yrs he eats some kinds of food only. He is not ready to eat meals for 2 Yrs. He eats only chappatti and soya chunks fry and some kinds of fruits. My anxiety is that he may be lack adequate nutrients. We are totally upset about his health. Please suggest me a solution.

Mam I can understand you problem intake of childrens will be diffrent yoi may need to follow few things this requires your whole family support. Encourage him to eat on dining with all family members discuss with family members and ask them not say I do not like this stuff for example I do not like raddish the kid will decide to eliminate that food from his plate no nrgative comments on food as kids are good observer they will stop eating that. Now make him little special like after making chapati draw a smily face by jam, arrange his plate in little different way were in hr should be appreciated do not cook same kind of stuff every day get some vatiety kids apprecoate colour, then the taste hope these things will help you out to feed him.

Give your wife a balanced healthy diet rich in protein, she should take fresh fruits and vegetables ,regular iron and calcium supplementation. After every feed to the baby she should take some healthy snack take rest for 6 weeks baby should be exclusively breast fed for 4 months ,proper hygiene maintained, should receive his immunization shots timely.
