My Sister Has An Asthmatics Problem During Cold And Also With headache What Can I Do Please Suggest. Thank You.

Doctor of Naturopathy & Natural Medicines, DM - Clinical Haematology
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Agra
Hello! It is advisable that you give the patient cinnamon powder. Soak 1 tsp cinnamon powder overnight in a glass of water and consume it in the morning. Empty stomach but after getting fresh. Cinnamon powder is the most effective natural as well as easy to do remedy for your asthma patient and any problem related to it. For her headache problem -Firstly get her eyesight checked up as soon as possible. Make sure you have her head is in the south or east direction while sleeping… The most effective remedy for these kind of problems is" cow ghee" take 1 spoon of cow ghee and warm it, With the help of a dropper, Pour one drop of cow ghee in each of your nostril. It Makes your head nerves lighter and healthier that too without any side effects. Furthermore it is advisable that you keep her stress free by practicing breathing exercise (pranayam) everyday, It is beneficial for both her asthma and headache as well as cold problems. Lastly make sure she takes at least 8 hours of sleep. Asthma and other such problems related to it can also be cured through simple diet and exercise regimes. Remember that prevention is always better than cure. Thanks.

How a smoker can keep his lungs in a good condition without hampering smoking for at least of minimum of five cigarettes in a whole day?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
That idea is a pipe dream. Even one cigarette a day is harmful because tobacco smoke contains at least 4000 chemical substances. The greatest effect is in the lungs because this substance is processed through the respiratory system directly through the lung surface. Over a period of time lung patches form and those areas become defunct and will hamper oxygen absorption and you will feel loss of stamina and breathlessness. Things like how much you inhale, how long you retain the smoke and how many cigarettes you smoke will impact the effects of the substance. Ideally you should quit all smoking and live a healthy life, period.

Dr. ent said this is sinus infection and gave me medicines for 20 day but problem is still same now I have headache continuously and cough inside thought Pls suggest what to do.

Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Ahmedabad
Headaches bad smell cough in throat without improving after 20 days of antibiotics. You need to undergo two tests first is nasal endoscopy and another is ct scan of paranasal sinuses both will make it clear the cause and line of treatment for your problem.

I am suffering from allergy. My nose blocked anytime and discharging liquid after taking bath. Headache also. Is my disease allergy or sinus. Plse give a suggestion and treatment detail.

PG Hom, London, BHMS
Homeopath, Mumbai
Hello lybrate-user, getting a blocked nose and headache after bathing is linked to each other and it is mostly because of sinus problems. Something's that you have to remember is - after taking a head bath or shower, never stand below a full fan, as much as possible don't have shower with cold water, make sure you completely dry your body before coming out and finally wear dry clothes, avoid wearing wet or damp clothes.

I am taking medicine to cure tuberculosis from one month, still I have to continue for another 5 month. I am gaining weight too much. Day by day m looking fat. Is This normal? Pls advise I'm worried too much.

MD - Pulmonary Medicine, DAA (Allergy)
Pulmonologist, Mangalore
Hi Lybrate-user Gaining weight during treatment with tuberculosis is very common and in fact it is a positive indirect sign that the treatment is working. So do not worry about weight gain. The weight gain may be more if you had lost significant weight due to TB prior to starting treatment.
