I am a 32 years old male and have teeth pain for last 4 months. What should I do?
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need root canal treatment. Until then apply clove oil on the decayed tooth. Rinse frequently with mouth wash. Advise c. Amox 500mg 1-1-1, thrice daily, t. Metrogyl 400mg 1-1-1, thrice daily, t. Imol 1-1-1, thrice daily (contraindicated in conditions with gastric ulcer, asthma, wheezing, allergy), c. Becosules 1-0-0 once daily all for 3 days only. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Hi lybrate-user, a mouth ulcer is a painful sore inside the mouth, on the tongue, soft palate (the back portion of the roof of your mouth), or inside the cheeks. Sores in your mouth are round, white, or grey in color, with a red edge or border. The condition is usually becomes okay within 7 days. But if it persists beyond that, or if multiple ulcers keep re-appearing, medical advice must be taken. In severe mouth ulcer attacks, you may also experience fever and physical sluggishness. Taking vitamin b12 supplements along with a suitable gel for pain is the best remedy. Take care.

Hi, I am having severe pain in mouth from 1 week. Seems like wisdom tooth is coming. What should I do?
Instead of suffering get it removed coz we have no use of wisdom tooth. We need 28 teeth to chew our food since that tooth has to cum according to the nature so it comes but due insufficient space for the tooth to accomdate it gives pain.

Staining of teeth are due to oil and turmeric content of food. You cannot avoid staining. But you can minimize it by regular rinses after your meals.

I have extra teeth in my mouth I don't think how it is possible please give some advice.
Extra teeth are not v uncommon. In some situations extra teeth doesnot cause prob to your normal permanent teeth but in majority of cases it does cause prob such as food lodgment follwed by tooth decay, traumatic bite followed by tooth loosening etc. Consult a dentist to get your teeth evaluated who'll advice you after that to save it or get it removed to prevent prob from it to other teeth.

aayush, you need to visit a dentist for the same. you need to have scaling and polishing of your teeth, as it is because of the gum infection that your gums are bleeding. these procedures will also improve the colour of your teeth upto some extent. but if you want them white then go for bleaching treatment.

Every one have a different shade for his or her dentition. You can get your teeth cleaned or bleaching could be done to improve shade f your teeth. It can be done by a dental surgeon. Otherwise you should brush your teeth regulary. Dental flossing and use of mouthwash adds to the oral hygiene.

We helped this lady to get her charming smile back. We changed the looks of her upper front teeth by using state of the art techniques and helped her get her lower teeth back with implant supported crowns and crowns and bridges, in place of natural teeth badly effected by severe gum problems.

Mouthwash: All You Need to Know About it

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Mouthwash: All You Need to Know About it

Mouthwash has become an essential ingredient of one's oral hygiene kit. Though not a substitute for flossing or brushing, it offers additional oral protection. Due to a host of ingredients, such as alcohol,
Chlorhexidine, cetylpyridinium chloride, menthol, methyl salicylate, fluoride, antibacterial enzymes, hydrogen peroxide, essential oils, zinc chloride and other herbs and "natural" ingredients mouthwash has a number of benefits.

Alcohol is the basic ingredient in all of them. While fluoride protects against decay, chlorhexidine protects against gum diseases. Hydrogen peroxide produces a mild bleaching effect. Herbs and essential oils produce a freshening effect.

Benefits of using a mouthwash

1. Reduces formation of tartar and plaque.
2. Protects from oral problems like gingivitis and periodontal disease, especially if it contains cetylpyridinium or essential oils. Chlorhexidine is also effective in protecting plaque formation and gingivitis.
3. Kills bacteria in the mouth and prevents cavities or decay, especially if it contains fluoride.
4. Mouthwash, to some extent, covers up bad breath due to oral hygiene or oral disease and produces a fresher breath.
5. Certain mouthwashes containing cetylpyridinium chloride and zinc chloride produce a better breath freshening effect.
6. Helps manage dry mouth, especially if containing biotene.

Types of Mouthwash

1. Cosmetic
2. Therapeutic

The cosmetic one is usually for freshening up the breath and is not regulated by the FDA. The therapeutic ones contain active ingredients aimed at addressing one of the issues like plaque formation, bad breath, dry mouth, or decay. They kill bacteria, reduce plaque, fight gingivitis, and control decay. They are not a substitute for brushing or flossing but supplement these two very well. These are approved by FDA and are proven in terms of safety and efficacy. Rinses with zinc chloride are effective against bad breath, those with fluoride are useful in people who are cavity-prone, and chlorhexidine helps prevent gum disease.

Choosing a mouthwash: This depends on the oral health condition, and it is always advisable that the dentist prescribes the right rinse for you.

When and how to use mouthwash: When you are done with your brushing and flossing, rinse your mouth with a capful of the mouthwash liquid. Swish it around your mouth for about 30 seconds and spit it out. Avoid brushing, drinking water, or rinsing your mouth after using a mouthwash for about 15 to 20 minutes. This will give sufficient time for the active ingredients in the mouthwash (especially if it is a therapeutic one) to act in the mouth. Brushing after mouthwash removes all the effect of the rinse.

Ice cream to be taken half an hour post tooth removal. Intake of ice cream or cold beverage makes the smaller blood vessels shrink thereby reducing bleeding at the extracted tooth socket.
External application of cold also aids in the same phenomenon.

Avoid Tobacco for better Heatlth

Avoid Tobacco, this will be a big favor to your teeth. One, it will save you from oral cancer and periodontal complications. Two, it will save you from the countless ill effects caused by the agents used to mask the smell of tobacco. For example, if you smoke a cigarette, you may use candies, tea or coffee to mask the smoky breath and odor. This doubles the amount of damage caused.
