Hi. Give your baby homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe's Alpha-NC and Alpha-CF - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Bakson's Nasal-Aid spray/ 1-2 sprays after every 4 hours. This is the best treatment for your baby as homoeopathy is very mild-acting medicines which is given to even newborn baby without causing any harm!! Take care of your baby.

Dear parent can see your concern. But till the age of 5 years get 5--6 episodes of cough and cold and some fever too but usually it's viral so not much treatment is needed give paracetamol and some decongestant and honey with ginger or honey with lemon or tulsi but if fever is more or breathing is fast or difficult immidiately consult the doctor hope this held.

Hello My baby is 11 months old and is been suffering from cough and cold since a week. I am giving him him .31 mg levolin and .25 mg budecort in neboliser 2-3 times a day. Atarax syrup 0.5 ml and montair granules are also prescribed by his pediatrician which he is taking regularly but there is no effect at all. There's a lot of wheezing sound from his nose and lungs. I am also giving him nasoclear spray occasionally if he is not able to sleep due to blocked nose. I give him warm water also for drinking 2-3 times a day. Please suggest what to do as I am very much worried due to his frequent recurrence of cold.

Nasoclear will not reduce block in nose and use Otrivin P nasal spray. Wheezing is s long term disease (chronic condition) and is made worse by allergy to dust, cols and may things around him. You may also need antibiotics to clear infection if there is infection. You can consult me here in the site personally with all details.

My Daughter (Age 10 month) has been suffering from fever (101-102, by underarm) from last 3 days. First day her nose was running a lot. But next day onward her nose was ok. On third day there was no fever for almost 18 hrs but again at mid night she got fever. I am giving her Maxtra-P (60ml) according to doctor. Should I go for antibiotic? Is it viral fever or common cold.

I suppose there are no other symptoms except you have narrated. It is usually viral fever but 101-102 temp by under arm should be taken care of. No fever for 18 hours may be due to medicine you are giving. There is no role of antibiotcs in viral fever unless it is super imposed secondry bacterial infection. Your doctor is best judge to assess.

My 2.10 yr old son, is getting fever every 15 days (high fever) since last 3-4 months. Generally accompanied with Cough and throat infection. What to do? I am really worried about the frequency of this and his intake of antibiotics.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
I think your child is going to pre nursery which is a place to contract frequent infections. They are viral infections and I think you are using frequent antibiotics which suppress the immunity further.

Hi, my son's age is 1.5 yr. He was suffering from periodic fever (as per doctor) which was recurrent for 2 months and was coming every alternate week. Now he is ok but in the due course we have done some tests of cbc, crp, mp dual antigen and urine re & culture. Urine test is ok with a scanty bacteria shown. Blood test is ok hb is 12.6 and the other components are ok only the concern is that the rbc is a bit small. Doctor prescribed iron tonic for 6 months. My question is is this a concern for having rbc a bit small? as doctor said to keep in observation for sometime. My baby is active with no weight loss or growth hamper till date. Please advice. Thank you in advance for your help.

General Physician,
Please send all reports for proper advice. You can send them by ask privately option. The periodic fever syndromes' (also known as autoinflammatory diseases or autoinflammatory syndromes) are a set of disorders characterized by recurrent episodes of systemic and organ-specific inflammation. Unlike autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus, in which the disease is caused by abnormalities of the adaptive immune system, patients with autoinflammatory diseases do not produce autoantibodies or antigen-specific t or b cells. Instead, the autoinflammatory diseases are characterized by errors in the innate immune system. The syndromes are diverse, but tend to cause episodes of fever, joint pains, skin rashes, abdominal pains and may lead to chronic complications such as amyloidosis. Most autoinflammatory diseases are genetic and present during childhood. The most common genetic autoinflammatory syndrome is familial mediterranean fever, which causes short episodes of fever, abdominal pain, serositis, lasting less than 72 hours. It is caused by mutations in the mefv gene, which codes for the protein pyrin.

10 Signs You Must Not Ignore in Your Child - See a Neurologist Now!

10 Signs You Must Not Ignore in Your Child - See a Neurologist Now!
10 Signs your child needs to see a paediatric neurologist immediately

Your child needs complete care whether it is emotional, psychological or physical. A thorough evaluation of your child’s body and mind is vital at nascent stages. Especially if you observed any complaints by your little one that may require medical help, such as:

1. Frequent headaches
Much like adults, children too can experience headaches that last from 30 minutes to 3 hours. A range of primary or secondary headaches like, migraine, meningitis, sinusitis or tension may affect children due to neurological issues.

2. Blurry vision
If you observe either a vision developmental delay or near-sightedness and farsightedness in your child, it might be related to neurological issues.

3. Slurred Speech
If your child is 7-8 months and is not responding to sounds or cannot babble non-sense words, it calls for a neurological check-up.

4. Motor and Co-ordination Delay
Sometimes babies are unable to perform motor skill activities like crawling, walking or using fingers to grip or hold, such delay requires attention of the parent.

5. Fatigue
Check if your kid has become lazy and decreased his physical activities due to fatigue and tiredness suddenly of late.

6. Abnormal Movements
Common involuntary movements or tics like eye blinking, twitching of nose, grimacing or making sounds is in some cases overlooked. Tourette syndrome is an example of such a tic, which has been evaluated as a neurological issue.

7. Tremors or Seizures
Children are prone to febrile seizures (fits) or tremors along with fever that occur between 6 months and 5 years. These are signs of neurological issues that require an immediate check-up.

8. Numbness in Limbs
Neurological complications in your child’s infancy may also cause joint pain and numbness of arms and legs.

9. Behavioural disorders
A change in behaviour or attitude in your child is noticed if he/she is suffering from attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, school problems, sleep issues, intellectual disability or other neural conditions.

10. Weakness
This symptom is tricky in children, as it may be confused with general tiredness by your human eye. It may be unheard of but many children face trouble in performing easy tasks. A neurological exam may identify the source for treatments.

An underlying problem to the nervous system can cause harm or impairment in the normal growth and development of your kid. Early diagnosis helps in correct care, recovery and prevention of long-term problems. You can opt for a routine neurological examination if you find such symptoms in your child. These exams check the functioning of your child’s brain, spinal cord, nerves that come from the brain and spinal cord and offers accurate diagnosis.

Get your child the best treatment and care to rule out neurological issues!
