weight is loos by decrease intake means food intake and increase out put means increase physical activities..... calculate calories intput and out put take following remedies 1.barleys soup at the time of lunch nad dinner 2.have your dinner at 7.30 pm and sleep at 10.30am 3.exersise atleast 45 min 4.eat all fruit-vegetable [ex.lauki,parval ,bendi,karela, 5 fruit=muskmelon,watermelon,papaya your weight will come down

Please suggest when we should drink water before having food in between or after and why?
If you are in normal weight you can have long gaps between drinking water. However if you are trying to lose weight. Then you need to have water before meals. During meals and after meals. For example. If you have one glass 200 ml of water you are saving on 300 calories in on meal. About 500 calories per day. In one month it amounts to 15000 calories. This way you could lose 2 kg in a month by having a glass of water during a meal. On the flip side not having water during meals would lead you to overeating and can add 2 kgs in a month. On this subject you will get too many conflicting views. Hence you take your decision. Have more water. It will help you. Have less and your health may decline.

take triphla churna 1 tspn at bed time with warm water . ashwagandha churna 1 tspn with hot milk in the morning on empty stomach 30 min before food. after 30 mins of taking this powder in the morning ,consume a small bowl of peanuts soaked in milk overnight. everyday u can change the ingredients of the bowl. can replace peanuts with cashews n almonds . can also consume raisins n green gram soaked together in water overnight .

Do the frequent changes in the season really affect your body and food habits?

A big YES!

Selection of appropriate food according to seasonal change is very important for staying healthy. In modern times, most fresh fruits and veggies are available round the year, however, the nutritional content is much less in the non-seasonal fruits and vegetables. An update of your eating habits consistently is a must to stimulate energy level of your body.

Here are some key dietary behaviors that must be considered while choosing the perfect diet plan for different seasons-

- Cherish the novelty of Spring

In spring, the green leafy vegetables with their fresh, tender leaves represent the arrival of the new season. These must be added to your menu that must include such lettuce, parsley, spinach, basil and fruits like strawberries, apricot, blueberries, peaches, and cherries etc. Try to consume less amount of salt in this season.

- Take Delight in the cool squash of Summer
Due to excessive heat in the summers, it is recommended to adhere to the watery, cool and light diet. Include seasonal fruits like watermelon, plums, melons, cherries, vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumber, mint etc in your regular diet. Restore your energy with cool, refreshing drinks such as fresh juices, coconut water, milk shakes etc. Drink lots and lots of water during the summers.

- Relish the freshness of Raindrops
The Monsoon season comes with lots of lip smacking food items. In this season, many people face dyspepsia problems so pick up foods that are easily digestible. Avoid consumption of watery foods, heavy meals, meat and fish. Eat gram flour, brown rice, barley, corn, oats, garlic, ginger, turmeric, yogurt and fruits like pomegranate and apple.

- Savor the crisp sunshine of Autumn
Consumption of warm harvest food products is appropriate for this season. Veggies like onion, fenugreek, garlic, pumpkin and fruits such as banana, pears, apple, cranberries work well in this season. Spices, nuts and seasonings like cinnamon, mustard seeds, walnuts, and peppercorns are a must in the autumn months.

- Enjoy the warmness of Winter season
As soon as the cold winter seeps in, you must eat warm nutritional foods. In the winter months, the guiding principle is that the foods that are slow to grow are more warming than the ones that grow rather quickly. This means you can take foods like lamb, fish and chicken and root vegetables like onion, garlic, potato and carrots. You can also take sesame, corn, fenugreek and milk products that are good sources of nutrition.

Tips on food:

Eating food contaminated with bugs leads to more than half a billion cases of illness a year, the World Health Organization warns.

It says this "global threat" contributed to 351,000 deaths in 2010.

Unsafe foods, for example under cooked meat, can cause 200 problems - from diarrhoea to cancer.

But changes in food production mean there are more opportunities for meals to harbour harmful bugs or chemicals, experts say.

A local food problem can quickly turn into an international emergency
Culinary caution

Unsafe foodstuffs can contain many types of harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites or chemicals.

Examples include under cooked meat, fruits and vegetables contaminated with faeces and shellfish containing marine toxins.

But the WHO says investigating these outbreaks has become increasingly challenging as single plates of food often have ingredients from many countries.

In its first WHO report on this issue, its director-general Dr Margaret Chan warns: "A local food problem can quickly turn into an international emergency.

"Food production has been industrialized, and its trade and distribution have been globalized.

"These changes introduce multiple opportunities for food to become contaminated with harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites or chemicals."

The analysis, which pulls together scientific literature from across the globe, shows:

Most deaths are caused by pathogens such as salmonella, E. coli and norovirus
The majority of lives lost are in Africa and South East Asia
40% of the deaths are among the under-5s, the most vulnerable group
Raw hazards

Experts say illnesses caused by food also carry major economic risks.

They estimate the E. coli outbreak in Germany in 2011 cost about US$1.3bn (£876m) in losses for farmers and industries.

WHO leaders are calling on governments to urgently strengthen food safety systems.

On April 7, the WHO launches its food safety campaign, From Farm to Plate.

It aims to prompt the public and governments to consider where individual ingredients in meals come from and question whether these are properly and safely handled at every stage.

How to be food-safe:

Wash hands, surfaces and equipment before preparing food
Separate raw and cooked food - use separate utensils for handling raw foods
Safe temperatures - do not keep cooked food at room temperature for more than two hours. Keep food piping hot (above 60 C) before serving
Use safe water to wash raw fruit and vegetables

Please get your blood thyroid levels checked once. Your weight is quite high for your age. Your leptin levels may be poor. Leptin is a hormone that regulates appetite. Before its too late, please start exercising daily for 2 hours. 1 hour early morning- brisk walk, 1 hour evening- free hand exercises. Eat small meals every 2-3 hours. Use small plates & bowls. Include more salad, vegetable, fruit, 1 bowl of curd/ 1 glass of low fat milk, moderate amount of sprouts/ soybean/ pulse/ chicken/ fish, less cereal/ grains in your plate. Avoid junk/ processed/ ready to eat/ packaged/ street/ fast/ outside / fried foods, sugar, sweets, maggi, extra salt, soft drinks, alcohol, chocolate, ice cream. Have home made fresh foods. Eat slowly & chew your food well. Do not eat in front of TV/ computer. Do not sit continuously for an hour. Take light 15 mins walk after meals & do not lie down within 1 hr of a meal. In between main meals, include snacks like lassi/ buttermilk/ sprouts/ makhana/ popcorn/ stew/ whole fruit/ soaked almonds/ walnuts/ roasted chana/ dhokla/ khandvi/ green tea/ coconut water w/o cream. Whenever you still feel hungry have free foods like raw vegetables, whole fruits with peel, makhana.

What is the difference in diet when you are building muscle[weight training for upper body] vs when you are losing weight [cardio]? I have reduced around 20 kg by following a particular diet, now I'm planning to build muscle, so how should my diet change. My present diet for cardio 1- breakfast - poha/roti vegetable daal 2-snack - fruit 3- lunch - roti green vegetable /peanut butter bread 4- almonds, walnut 5- dinner - egg white & roti vegetable 6- mill There is 2 hrs difference between meals. What should I change in the diet for muscle building now. I work out before dinner. Post work out - I eat a fruit immediately and then dinner Pre work out - banana.

HI Irecommends the following basic principles to keep in mind if you wish to gain weight in a healthy way: Increase your appetite by eating more to gain weight. But do it step-by-step and not by stuffing yourself too much at one go. Add one extra chapatti or more rice than you normally consume, or you even start with fruits by eating an extra one every day. Carbs are needed to gain weight but include healthier options like banana, potato, mango, whole grains, rice, etc. Instead of sugar-rich foods, chocolates and other junk foods. In order to increase your muscle mass, it is essential to do weight training 4-5 times a week for an hour. You can vary the intensity depending on your capacity. Consume protein-rich foods after you workout to increase muscle mass and eat good fats like nuts and seeds in your diet. Eating a handful of pumpkin or flaxseeds is a good way to give your body the fat intake it needs. Though junk foods like vada pav or burgers are loaded with calories, they only increase body fat and not muscle mass which is not the right way to go about. Here is a healthy weight gain diet plan which includes the right foods one should consume to put on kilos in a healthy manner. But along with this, you also need to engage in physical activity for at least 30 minutes every day. It is also essential to have at least 6-8 glasses of water to flush out toxins from the body. One should follow this diet till the time their ideal weight is achieved.

Good Afternoon Sir, my age is 29 years old. I met with a bike accident on dated 19.03.2017 in which my right collar bone had been broken into two pieces. The doctor advised to use a sling & brace for one month with proper medicine. After one month doctor said it has been connected & also advised not to use sling & brace. Now 3.5 month has been passed. Sometimes I am feeling pain in this joint. Am I able to ride bike now? How many days required to recover fully so that I ll be able to do all those work as previously. I request you to kindly suggest on the above matter. Thanks

Yes you can ride a bike but not for long distances. It will take around 3 more months to recover fully. Apply an ice pack twice a day for next one month over the fractured area for 6 minutes. You should do shoulder strengthening exercises for next one month.

Please note the followings in respect to your queries: 1. Banana and Milk -- Bananas are full of calories and contain high amount of carbohydrates and potassium that give you instant energy. Throughout my army career I was always underweight and at times up to more than 10% of ideal weight for my height and age. When I retired at the age of 58 and settled down I weighed 64 Kgs. It's been five years since then and in the meanwhile I developed COPD and. Though it appears that COPD has stabilised I do not weigh more than 50 Kgs presently. And this in spite of my best efforts to increase my weight. My diet is healthy and in addition to deep breathing exercises and yoga, I also walk for half an hour daily. Please advise what I should be doing.

With the age you muscle mass has reduced. You need to increase protein intake in your diet. Eat eggs, chicken, walnuts, almonds, sprouts, paneer. It is very important that you eat several small meals 5 times a day to increase your weight. Do not exercise much, half an hour brisk walk is sufficient for you.

Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front.

Drink lots of water daily. Make a routine.
Drink 1/2 a glass or full glass of water every time you go for micturation. Drinking water will help you loose weight, help you in proper digestion because of which gastric problem gets cured, hard stools and constipation get cured. People with kidney problems should ask your doctor before starting this practice. Thank you.

Have Pleasant Meals: Meal time should be a pleasant time rather than a hurried affair. You should thoroughly enjoy every meal. Listening to soothing music while dining can be very helpful. Furthermore,research conducted by Professors Brian Wansink and Koert van Ittersum at Cornell University suggest that by eating in larger cups and bowls, one may increase the consumption of food compared to when eating in smaller cups and bowls.
