Mr. lybrate-user, There a few studies which have shown that cinnamon does help in reducing blood glucose. But there other studies which show that there is hardly any benefit. It may be helpful in giving some additional benefit. About 4 g (1 tea spoonful) powder may be taken 2 or 3 times a day. But do not stop the anti-diabetic treatment. Thanks.

Is black tea with lemon good for diabetics?

Tea is fine if not taken to suppress appetite or to wake up or to lose weight. No food benefits in isolation. So if your lifestyle and eating habits are good then in moderation it's fine.

I am a 65 years old female. I am a diabetic patient but the sugar is under control. I suffer from kidney (urine) infection for the past 3 years. Despite several allopatic medicines the infection is not subsiding. The infection is caused by e-coli bacteria. Kindly prescribe the right medicine.

Diabetics are prone to different systemic and local infection. Female are very prone to urinary tract infection, which turns to be a chronic one due to negligence or ignorance in the part of patient who do not comply with medical advice. Once it become recurring infection it becomes very problematic but not impossible to cure such condition. What you need is to talk to a urologist / nephrologist for following: a) to assess kidney function, b) to find out whether there is any persistent infection and if yes, causative organism and its drug sensitivity. C) then treat the condition with appropriate medicine for at least 2 - 3 weeks. D) and follow-up treatment for a prolonged period, at least for 3 - 6 months (may be more) to prevent infection. E) side by side good blood sugar control is to be achieved. This part is your diabetologist's job. So, hope you could understand. Please do as I said.

The answer is homoeopathy. I do not force you for it but I will advise you to give it a try so as to get rid of life long medicines and that too with side effects. Although you may find it difficult to take regular doses of homoeo medicines daily as compared to one tablet of allopathic medicine that you are taking but the end with homoeopathic medicines is always fruitful and moreover you will be relieved of life long medicines and will be fully treated in 2-3 years depending upon your thyroid levels and amount of effort that you are putting in, if you get the right treatment in the hands of a right homoeo doctor----------so choice is yours whether to go with life long homoeopathic medicines and its side effects or homoeopathic medicines for 2-3 years without any side effects------------

Mr Deepak, It is difficult give the answer, unless sugar levels (fasting and PP) are mentioned and HbA1c% is known. Some times to control initial severe glucotoxicity Insulin is used along with oral anti diabetic drugs, to bring blood glucose down. Then it may be discontinued. This depends on response.

combination of the above medicines is ok, and they are essential for your well being. Precaution is only diet and enviroment. you should have good ventilation in the house. prevent musty and dark areas in your house. you need to take good protinous and nutritious diet. though you are diabetic and under food restriction you need to take nutritious diet for recovery from tb, so except sugar and sweets, take sufficient quatity of food what ever that is cooked in the house add some proteins like milk, non veg, eggs etc., and basing on the sugar levels increase the dosage to diabetic medicines. Have some physical activity like walking and yoga etc.,for tb apart from medicines diet is an important factor.
