Hi, I have been detected with Ovarian Cancer stage IV in November 2014. I have been treated for the same with Chemotherapy and then surgery and then chemotherapy again. I was discharged fine in June 2015. Now disease has relapsed and chemotherapy is being given again, so wish to take another opinion -1. How can we prevent it to reoccur and how to live, 2. How to increase immunity of the of my body and other methods to prolong the re-occurrence.. I can send reports if required by the concerned specialist.

Hi,

Hi lybrate-user, stage 4 carcinoma is treated by chemotherapy only. If there is recurrence after chemo your doctor is needed to change the protocol. Though many agents are claimed to be immune builders but none is proved to the satisfaction. Even for the sake of giving immunostimulants I would suggest to take turmeric capsules and alovera juice along with chemotherapy.

Few Causes of Sciatica You Need To Know!

MCh - Neurosurgery, MBBS
Neurosurgeon, Chennai
Few Causes of Sciatica You Need To Know!

Sciatica refers to the pain one experiences due to the irritation or compression of nerve roots contributing to formation of Sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is the longest and widest nerve in the body, running from the lower back, down to the back of each leg. The pain can occur in the lower back and spread to the hips, buttocks and leg. Sciatica generally affects one side of the body. There are numerous causes of irritation of the sciatic nerve and sciatica.

Some of them are:

  1. Spinal Stenosis: The narrowing of the spinal canal caused by natural wear and tear of the vertebrae (individual bones in the spine protecting underlying nerves) of the spine is known as spinal stenosis. The narrowing may put pressure on the roots of the sciatic nerve, causing pain.
  2. Herniated Disc: A disc is made up of cartilage and acts as a cushion between vertebrae, allowing flexibility of the spine. A herniated or slipped disc occurs when a disc is temporarily pushed out of place, putting pressure on the sciatic nerve.
  3. Spondylolisthesis: It is a condition where one of the lower vertebrae slips forward over another. This also causes a collapse of the disc space between both, causing the nerve to get pinched. This may cause sciatica.
  4. Piriformis Syndrome: Piriformis is a muscle found deep inside the buttocks, which connects the lower spine to the upper thighbone, running directly over the sciatic nerve. Spasming of this muscle can pressurize the sciatic nerve, triggering symptoms of sciatica.
  5. Sacroilitis: Sacroillac joints are the place where the lower spine meets the pelvis and inflammation of one or both of these joints causes sacroilitis. This can give rise to symptoms of sciatica as it causes pain in the lower back, buttocks and legs.
  6. Spinal tumors: Very rarely, tumors growing inside or along the spine may put pressure on the sciatic nerve.
  7. Infection or injury: Muscle inflammation, infections, fractures or any other spinal injury may lead to irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve.
  8. Pregnancy: Pregnant women may suffer from sciatica due to weight gain, expansion of the uterus or increased fluid retention or other changes occurring in the body, which put pressure on the sciatic nerve.
  9. Other causesOsteoarthritis and fractures caused by osteoporosis may also affect the sciatic nerve, producing symptoms of sciatica. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Neurosurgeon.

My penis is very small when in flaccid state. Its barely 1 inch and thin. Also I can't pull my foreskin back when it gets erect.

MD - Psychiatry

My penis is very small when in flaccid state. Its barely 1 inch and thin. Also I can't pull my foreskin back when it ...
In flaccid state all penis are small, erect state is what matters, read below. 5 to 6 inches in erect state is average Indian size. Penis grows slowly till 12 years and then grows rapidly till 19 to 20 years and then stops growing. It's size is determined by genetics/ hereditary and early hormonal influence. So it s size cannot be changed after 20 years. What is your size in flaccid and erect state? Also, don't compare yours with African race or some European race wherein males have huge sized penis. Asian race like Japanese and others have smaller ones than Indians as an average, so be happy with your size and size does not determine happiness, performance and other things count. There are many websites claiming oils and tablets to do the trick, they all swindle money with no use. Women are not as bothered bout their partners size than men, they like the performance and how you satiate them rather. You must be suffering from tight foreskin problem, under it lots of debris accumulates, as well as it does interfere with sex significantly. So kindly get it removed by circumcision, a very minor surgical procedure. It will heal in about a week and you can have good sex and hygiene. All the best

Mr. Lybrate-user, if you are trying for a child it is best to get the surgery done. There are no medicines to cure your varicocele, you will have to get the surgery done and then wait for your sperm counts and mobility to improve. So, I think you should not waste much time.

I dnt use soap or face wash on my face .i use only water. But I use soap on my body. Smetym after bathing I feel itching on my face .what to do.

I dnt use soap or face wash on my face .i use only water. But I use soap on my body. Smetym after bathing I feel itch...
Obviously you are hypersensitive to ingredients of the soap in use. It has nothing to do with the fact whether you use on face or elsewhere. Once these ingredients irritate your immune system, the secretion of Histamine in the body causes itching in any or all the parts of the body. It is better to identify the soap at fault and stop its use. Change it with some other soap not having the same ingredients and your problem should go away. The water supply if chlorinated may also be at fault to cause it because anything can be an allergen.

People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms: fever* or feeling feverish/chills. Cough. Sore throat. Runny or stuffy nose. Muscle or body aches. Headaches. Fatigue (tiredness) try to avoid close contact with sick people. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. I am sweating always. I don't know the reason for this. What is the reason for this? should I take medicine for this? for medicine how much cost I will spend? please help me doctor.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Hello Hyperhydrosis is a genetically determined condition and it's difficult to reduce sweating by using medication. Localised hyperhidrosis can be controlled by blocking sweat glands. I prescribe aldry lotion to my patients and have seen excellent response on palms soles and axilla. You can try this. Take vitamin b complex tablet daily for 3 months. Thank you.

Hello It varies from person to person and also each time is different. Average sexual intercourse time is 5 to 6 minutes. It also depends on multiple factors. If you and your partner are not satisfied. Then you need to consult a Sexologist for further advice.
