dear babita, i simply suggest you to take your sister and consult in person with gynaecologist for proper diagnosis and better treatment. deficiency of calcium and heavy work may cause back pain and in periods back pain is common but in ur sis case i just want to say that apply heat fermentation twice a day to reduce back pain.

Sir, someone hitted me with iron rod on thighs, legs and on foot. In x-rays there is nothing but there is swelling on thighs and on leg too. So, what should I do now. I have to run in physical test on 21 april. Please help me

Hi thanks for your query. Normally soft tissue swelling may take 2-3 weeks to disappear and maybe even longer depending upon site and kind of injury. Anyways do intensive ice packs if it is an acute phase of injury, take short course of analgesics according to one which suits you, and do not indulge in heavy physical activity as of now, compressive bandages also help depending upon location of your injury. I have a some compression between L4 and L5 as per MRI for the last about 5 years. During walk (occasionally) I feel some difficulty in walking and take rest or I need to sit for about 5 minutes and than feel normal. Please advice if there is any medicine or physiotherapy ? Pramod

Pain in the leg can be due to nerve compression in the back or inadequate blood supply to leg due to vessel compression or narrowing of arteries. Your MRI will have to be seen to evaluate amount of compression. If compression is mild, then an arterial and venous Doppler of both lower limbs will help to assess the blood supply to the legs. The treatment depends on the cause of the pain.

. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Hi, I am having this back ache for sometimes and also whenever I wake up in the morning my left foot pains a bit. This pain persists for some time and then it doesnt pain any more for the rest of the day. I work in a multinational company and need to sit on chairs for long hours. Hi, prolonged sitting and overweight could be cause of your back pain. These factors along with a bad posture lead to severe back pain which may go up to your legs. Check if you have any tingling or numbness in your feet. Sit erect whenever possible. Keep a pillow between your back and chair. If you use a computer or laptop make sure to keep the screen at your eye level. Avoid bending forwards. Look for a physiotherapist opinion who will help you with your posture correction and core exercises to prevent any problems.

A three-step plan to relieve pain

1. Always do stretches and back strengthening exercises in the morning before the day's activities tire the back and at night to relax the muscles after a long day!

2. Use a cushion/or a back support when you sit on a chair. Use an ergonomic chair to sit at your desk. Take breaks every hour and walk around even to drink water or for making a cup of green tea! be mobile, but not on the mobile!

3. De-stress. Wellness encompasses mind and body relaxation. So meditate and breathe right. Eat healthy. Sleep well.

Calcium has nothing to do with knee pain. It's a wear and tear of the joint, so: don't bend your knee more than 90 degree. Do knee exercises use sports shoes.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hi lybrate user, your complaints are quite common during pregnancy as there is so much hormonal and physiological changes takes place inside body. I'd suggest wait for delivery and if after that problem persist, you can consult specialist. As far as supplement is concerned your gynecologist must have advised you supplement during pregnancy for optimal fetal well being, if not then kindly ask her. Do not lot of medication as delivery is nearby and most of the drug will pass down to fetus. Hope it helps.

Her knee ligament must be injured. Hot fermentation is required. Ift & ultrasound. Knee isometrics- lie down & keep a towel roll under the knee joint ask her to press it downwards & hold upto count of 5, 10 repetitions. Perform straight leg raising & leg sliding exercises- 10 repetitions each. Exercises should be done 2 times a day this should be followed by strengthening program as well.
