My eyes remains red. I don't feel any ache or anything in my eyes. So what may be the reasons for that.
Hello\nthere are many causes for redness of eyes mainly allergy, infection, inflammation and dry eyes etc.\n1. Redness + itching: allergy\n2. Redness + pain + watering + decreased vision: infection\n3. Redness + pain: inflammation\n4. Redness foreign body sensation: dryness\nif there is only redness then it is normal as slight exposure to dust, temperature or air or eyes may be red in morning. Stress may also cause redness. I usually do not treat when there is only redness, you can 1. Blink a lot\n2. Wash eyes with fresh water\n3. Cold compresses\n4. Use lubricating eye drop like flogel these measures will help to keep your eyes healthy but it will not have any effect on redness (treating general redness alone is not necessary also)\nhaving said that you should consult local ophthalmologist for proper examination and treatment.

What could be the reason for hair loss?
You could find a million products out there stating “We could help you stop your hair loss”. Chances are, You tried a few too. Ever thought what type of hair loss you are trying to treat? Do you even know what’s the reason for your hair loss?

Question is, ‘How a disease can be treated without diagnosing it?’ First what you need to do is identify the reason for your hair loss; hair care products can give you a 1000 reasons to use their product, but they still cannot diagnose the reason for hair loss in each & every individual.

Pattern hair loss(baldness)
The most common cause of hair loss among men is hereditary hair thinning brought about by the effect of hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone). This type of hair loss affects women as well leading to thinning of hair over the front part of the head .

Nutritional deficiencies – Proper nutrition is very essential for hair growth, so deficiency of proteins, iron, biotin, minerals etc lead to hair loss, hair breakage as well as reduced hair growth.

Acute illnesses – Severe illnesses like infection(viral fever, jaundice, typhoid) blood loss, trauma etc can affect your hair growth cycle. The hair fall may not be evident soon and appear 2-3 months after the illness. This can lead to alarming rates of hair fall producing severe anxiety to the affected. This is called Acute Telogen effluvium. Usually self limiting, but at times the hair loss will persist and continue for several years(chronic Telogen Effluvium).

Medication – Some of the medicines when taken for certain period can bring about excess hair fall. Especially the ones used for treating hypertension, depression, cancer chemotherapy, retinoids etc. Once you complete your medication period or stop using these meds, hair loss gets reversible and your hairs start growing again.

Internal problems – Hair loss can be a reflection of diseases affecting the internal organs like thyroid, liver, kidney etc. Diabetes and various anemias can also lead to hair loss.

Severe mental stress – Acute mental stress following death of a close relative, divorce, financial loss etc can also affect hair growth cycle which usually starts with in 2-3 months of incident.
Scalp diseases- Hair fall can also be associated with diseases affecting the scalp. Fungal and bacterial infections, dandruff, alopecia areata, lichen planus etc. can produce either patchy or diffuse areas of hair loss.

The best way to deal with hair loss is seeking the help of a dermatologist who can diagnose the exact reason for your hair fall. If you keep on wasting money on oils, shampoos or other so called products, your loss will be irreversible, both financially and psychologically.

I am loosing my hair and obsessed with masturbation. Is it related to my hair fall problem.
Dear lybrateuser, - Your loss of hair could be due to other reasons like scalp infection, nutritional deficiency or stress or hormonal disbalance or hereditary - do not be obsessed with masturbation as Italy lead to a feeling of guilt, occupy your mind in your job or studies, do regular exercises, play a game, follow a hobby - avoid watching or reading pornographic material - develop healthy habits so that your hair fall problem also stops & you remain fit.

Dear , Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. All these chemicals are capable to produce cancer, lung problems, breathing difficulties etc. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you?re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse?no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn?t easy. But it?s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. I am 23 years old male and I got horrible dreams since last 6 months. What should i do?
You will need to look back 6 months ago and see what might have triggered this response. Then, if you deal with that, you will probably stop these bad dreams. You may meet with a dream analyst and help you decipher the meaning and implication of these dreams to help you use it productively. Apart from that you must make sure that you diet does not include foods that increase the fermentation that cause flatulence. This may also come from a lot of stress, for whatever reason, and a counselor will help you discover that and deal with it. You could also sleep on your left ear and change these dreams to cheerful ones.

Am recently married. How to increase my penis size and erection time. Actually she told that she was not getting satisfaction.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Am recently married. How to increase my penis size and erection time. Actually she told that she was not getting sati...
Dear lybrate user, the size of penis depends on four factors:- 1) height of the person:- every organ of a taller person posses greater dimension than those of a shorter person. 2) testosterone hormone:- less secretion of this hormone leads to under-development of sexual organs 3) sexual diseases:- patients suffering from erectile dysfunction often complaints of short penis. 4) fatty tummy:- with every increase of 6kg in weight, the waist-line is increase up to 2cm. This fatty layer of abdomen conceals 2cm of the length of penis by surrounding it. The minimum size of an erected penis required for intercourse is 3 inches. A penis is composed of three highly vascular muscles. The plan of action behind increasing the size of penis is to increase the amount of blood flow to those three highly vascular muscles. There is no specific medicine to increase the size of penis. You can try the vaccum operated penis developer set available in market. You can buy it from local medical appliance store or you can order for it online. Use the penis developer set for at least 30 minutes daily. For better & quicker result, apply ayurvedic himcolin gel on your penis before using the penis developer set everytime. Kindly remember that the penis will not remain erected all time. It will remain contracted & flaccid throughout the day. However, you can observe the increase in the width & length of your penis whenever you undergo erection. You can try allopathic dejac-t tablet for your problem of premature ejaculation. Take one tablet just one hour before sex. If you cannot find dejac-t in your local allopathic retail shop then search for any medicine containing dapoxetine hydrochloride & tidalfil as its composition. But before taking any medicine kindly notice whether you are having a second erection within 15 minutes of ejaculation for the first time. If you are not experiencing any erection within 15 minutes of ejaculation then you are surely suffering from erectile dysfunction. There will be a change of medication in this case. To get rid of erectile dysfunction you could try ayurvedic gerivit forte capsule. Take one capsule just one hour before sex. Along with medicines you can also try a home therapy to boost your sexual performance. Soak 4-5 dry dates (khurma khajur) in a cup of lukewarm milk before going to bed daily. On waking up next morning eat those soaked dry dates & discard the milk. Repeat the process daily. This therapy often gives effective result within 15 days. There are many conventional allopathic sexual pills in market such as adegra, viagra, penegra etc. Refrain yourself from using such pills as those pills contain a steroid called sildenafil. This steroid has a unique temporary effect on erectile problems. Patients using these pills for first time often report that their penis remain strong even after ejaculation. Such effects leads the patients to use sildenafil for prolonged course of time as they often feel that a full erection is possible only after taking sildenafil. Moreover it is very low cost & easy availability of this steroid has made it quite common as sexual medicine. But the bitter truth is prolonged use of sildenafil will permanently disable the normal physiological process behind erection & will render your body to become solely dependent upon sildenafil for erection. As a result you won't feel any slightest normal erection without taking sildenafil. This is an irreversible condition & it cannot be treated by any means. Once you attain this condition you become a life-time customer of that steroid sildenafil because you have to take sildenafil in order to satisfy your partner. As prevention is always better than cure I would advise you to check the composition of any sexual pills before buying. Discard any sexual pills which contains sildenafil in its composition. There are other compositions like tidalfil, citadil etc which gives unique result than sildenafil.

Blocked Nose - Remedies For It!

MBBS, Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO)

Blocked Nose - Remedies For It!

A blocked nose is not only annoying, but extremely discomforting. Several reasons can be held responsible for it and common cold is certainly not the only one. Some other reasons include:

  1. Flu
  2. Allergy
  3. Sinus

Therefore, the remedial measures for blocked nose vary, depending on the cause that led to it. Some of the ways by which you can redress this problem are:

  1. Use a humidifier: Sinusitis is often held responsible for a clogged nose, a condition that is almost always accompanied by severe pain. In such a situation, placing a humidifier in a room proves to be extremely beneficial. This machine treats blocked nose by converting the water to moisture. This fills up the room and significantly increases the humidity of the room. Therefore, when you breathe, the humid air soothes the inflamed blood vessels in the nose and helps you to breathe properly.
  2. Take a hot shower: When you find it difficult to breathe, a quick hot shower can go a long way in curing the discomfort. The logic that operates is the steam generated from the hot shower thins the mucus and also considerably reduces the inflammation in the nose, allowing you to breathe normally.
  3. Drink lots of water: Though the suggestion may seem incredible, drinking water actually helps in unblocking that blocked nose. When you drink a lot of water, the mucus in the nostrils is thinned, at the same time it pushes back the accumulated fluids, thereby curbing the condition of blocked nose.
  4. Using a saline spray: This is one of the most ancient and trusted ways of treating blocked nose. By administering a saline or a nasal spray, the moisture in your nostrils increases and radically diminishes the inflammation.
  5. Use warm compresses: Using a warm compress has been the most reliable form of medication in times of high temperature and also at times of blocked nose. The compress that was dipped in hot water, when placed on the nose and forehead helps to unblock the nasal passages. The soothing effect of the warm compresses reduces the inflammation and facilitates the process of breathing.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Testicle size, color and shape differs in every individual. If you observe your ears, eyes, hands, legs etc they will be differing in some aspect in your body. The same is applicable to your testicles too. They differ in color, size and texture. This difference will not affect your sexual performance or future reproductive ability. But you should look for abnormal swelling of testicles with or without pain, itching, burning etc. Don’t panic. Take care.

Tips for better digestive health

M.Sc. in Dietetics and Food Service Management , Post Graduate Diploma In Computer Application, P.G.Diploma in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics , B.Sc.Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Tips for better digestive health
Tips for better digestive health:

Eat a high-fiber diet:

Consuming a diet that is high in fiber and rich in whole grains, vegetables, legumes, and fruits can improve your digestive health" a high-fiber diet helps to keep food moving through your digestive tract, making you less likely to get constipated" adding that a high-fiber diet can also help you prevent or treat various digestive conditions, such as diverticulosis, hemorrhoids, and irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, it can help you achieve or maintain a healthy weight.

Get insoluble and soluble fiber:

It is important to consume both types of fiber, which each help your digestive system in different ways" insoluble fiber, also known as roughage, can't be digested by the body and therefore helps add bulk to the stools, soluble fiber draws in water and can help prevent stools that are too watery" good sources of insoluble fiber include wheat bran, vegetables, and whole grains; get soluble fiber from oat bran, nuts, seeds, and legumes.

Limit foods that are high in fat:

In general, fatty foods tend to slow down the digestive process, making you more prone to constipation. But since it is important to get some fat in your diet, adams says that pairing fatty foods with high-fiber foods can make them easier on your digestive system.

Choose lean meats:

Protein is an essential part of a healthful diet, but fatty cuts of meat can lead to uncomfortable digestion. When you eat meat, select lean cuts, such as pork loin and skinless poultry.

Incorporate probiotics into your diet:

Probiotics are the healthy bacteria naturally present in your digestive tract. They help keep the body healthy by combating the effects of a poor diet, antibiotics, and stress, in addition, probiotics can enhance nutrient absorption, help break down lactose, strengthen your immune system, and possibly even help treat irritable bowel syndrome. Adams recommends that people eat good sources of probiotics, such as low-fat yogurt or kefir, on a daily basis.

Eat on schedule:

Consuming your meals and snacks on a regular schedule can help keep your digestive system in top shape. Aim to sit down for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks around the same time each day.
Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water is good for your digestive health. Water in your digestive system helps dissolve fats and soluble fiber, allowing these substances to pass through more easily.

Skip the bad habits:

Smoking and avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol. Liquor, coffee, and cigarettes can interfere with the functioning of your digestive system, and lead to problems like stomach ulcers and heartburn.

Exercise regularly:

" regular exercise helps keep foods moving through your digestive system, reducing constipation" says adams. And exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight, which is good for your digestive health. Make it a point to work regular exercise into your weekly schedule.

Manage stress:

Too much stress or anxiety can cause your digestive system to go into overdrive. Find stress-reducing activities that you enjoy and practice them on a regular basis.

Insulin Therapy For Diabetics Explained

MBBS
Diabetologist, Jabalpur
Insulin Therapy For Diabetics Explained

What is insulin therapy?
Insulin is a hormone that is responsible for keeping the level of sugar in the blood under control. It is the primary therapy used for the treatment of any type of diabetes. The dependence on insulin depends on the balance between the actual production of insulin in the body and the resistance of the body cells to the insulin produced. People, who suffer from diabetes type 1, need insulin injections lifelong. The requirement for insulin therapy in people suffering from type 2 diabetes solely depends upon the declining function of the beta-cells over time.

What are the types of insulin available in the market?
The various types of insulin available in the market are:

  1. Rapid acting insulin: The onset of action in this type of insulin is rapid and it lasts for a short duration, about two hours.
  2. Short acting or regular insulin: The onset of action is moderate, and it starts acting within half an hour, and the duration of action ranges from 3 to 6 hours.
  3. Intermediate acting insulin: It takes about 2 to 4 hours for the onset of action of this type of insulin and the effect can remain for about 18 hours.
  4. Long acting insulin:  The duration of action of this type of insulin can last up to about an entire day.

How is it taken?
Insulin injections can be self-injected using a syringe, a needle, a cartridge system, or a pre-filled pen system. Devices for inhaling insulin, quick-acting insulin and insulin pumps are also available at medical stores and pharmacies. Insulin is injected subcutaneously, into your muscles. Try to ensure that you inject around the same area every time, but choose a different spot to ensure less scarring. The best areas to inject insulin are thighs, buttocks, arms and belly. If you take regular insulin, it is advised to take it half an hour before a meal.

What are the possible side effects?

  1. Low blood sugar level
  2. Scars and lumps from extensive usage of insulin injection
  3. Rashes can be found in the area the insulin is injected or sometimes, all over the body
  4. Weight gain when you start using insulin initially
