I had blood with stool 6months before. Doctor said it is fissure and gave me medicine incl stool softener and ointment. Now blood has stopped when I am using stool softener but again it is coming when I am stopping stool softener. Also I feel burning sensation during stool passing. Sometimes fe extremely itching in anus. Pl note I have changed my diet to vegetarian and stopped taking oily and spicy foods. Also I am facing lower back pain since fissure came. Is there anything critical or what step should I take.

Sometimes stopping medication can lead to relapse. I strongly suggest you to start using more fiber in diet. Currently add isabgol 2tsf at bedtime with luke warm milk. And use local ointments before passing stool so that you do not have to hold back because of the pain. Use sitz bath twice daily. Add salads and fruits like apple to your daily diet. You may consult, if required.

Avoid outside spicy and fried food. Walk about 3-5 kms daily. There should be gap of 2hrs after dinner and sleep. Small and frequent meals is of help. Keep your blood sugar controlled. Raise your bed about 4" from headend side. Get your gastroendoscopy done. Tab nexpro-l 1 tab empty stomach.

She has an external haemorrhoid protruding from her anus. Painful defecation. Pain persists for more than 6 hrs after that. Ointment and betadine hot water therapy not giving much relief. Free t3, t4, tsh tests ok. Stool test ok. Very small quantity of blood observed in stool. What are the options for treatment? If surgery is required, how long will it take to heal, how painful will it be and how much would it cost?

Gastroenterologist, Hyderabad
Dear lybrate-userfirst of all we need to make sure if it is an external haemorrhoid or a fissure with an anal tag causing the pain and bleeding. The treatment for these two are different. The recovery usually takes a couple of days after surgery. Let a surgical gastroenterologist see the patient and confirm the diagnosis.

Stomach bloating is caused mainly because of air swallowing known as erophagia. The other causes are irritable bowel syndrome, dyspepsia, constipation ,celiac disease, sprue, bowel obstruction etc If you do regular exercises, then it will be useful to alleviate from the symptoms and still if you are having abdominal bloating or distension then you should start some medication like proton pump inhibitors, avoid excess carbohydrates and fatty foods, avoid oily and spicy foods. You should go to gastroenterologist who will take complete medical history with thoroughly clinical examination and can order investigation like complete hemogram, blood electrolytes, ultrasound of abdomen and upper GI scopy if required. The definitive treatment will depend upon the underlying cause. Regards,

Yesterday diagnosed gall stones what is the treatment to avoid surgery I am make 40 years old.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. What is the size of the stone? As there are many medicines for gallstones, so let me know about it for proper guidance. You can reduce your risk of gallstones if you: Don't skip meals. Try to stick to your usual mealtimes each day. Skipping meals or fasting can increase the risk of gallstones. Lose weight slowly. If you need to lose weight, go slow. Rapid weight loss can increase the risk of gallstones. Aim to lose 1 or 2 pounds (about 0.5 to 1 kilogram) a week. Maintain a healthy weight. Obesity and being overweight increase the risk of gallstones. Work to achieve a healthy weight by reducing the number of calories you eat and increasing the amount of physical activity you get. Once you achieve a healthy weight, work to maintain that weight by continuing your healthy diet and continuing to exercise.

Hello lybrate-user the cause for your headache seems to be multiple so you are right that having all the time gases can induce headache but the gas problem usually produces pain in the chest and some discomfort, it doesn't produce headaches normally so I suggest that you should check your blood pressure and check eye sight for vision and there is any visual problem you should correct it with proper glasses and start wearing it regularly, I suggest that you should check your vitamin d and vitamin b12 level as well as other parameters to check whether you have anaemia or any other disorder which should be diagnosed earlier last but not the least I would suggest that you should go for a ct scan of your brain to rule out some kind of cause originating from brain if ct scan of the brain is normal then there is no need to worry.
