Hi lybrate-user The object of a keto diet is to force your body to get into and stay in a glycogen deprived state and maintain a mild state of ketosis (burning fats for energy. On a carb based diet, carbs are converted into glucose and this is what the body will use for its primary fuel source. Only if traditional methods like a healthy diet and exercise hVe failed to give you results then go in for keto. You can follow it Anywhere from 2 – 7 days, depending on your body type, activity levels, and what you're eating. The fastest way to get into ketosis is to exercise on an empty stomach, restrict your carbohydrate intake to 20g or less per day, and be vigilant with your water intake. First try regular balanced healthy and nutritious diet with exercise for a period of 2-3 months. If they fail then go in for keto for max 1 week as a plateau breaker. I would still put this in a fad diet category. TKe the help of a professional nutritionist and trainer to guide you further.

It's a radicular pain in your leg called sciatica. It's because of compression or impingement of nerve root in lumber spine, and because of compression you may feel tingling, pain or numbness in your whole leg. Start tablet pregabalin and analgesic for couple of weeks. Take rest for few weeks, restrict heavy loading work, and do physiotherapy under expert physiotherapist, and still pain persist then do some necessary investigation like dynamic xray, MRI LS SPINE or you may consult pain and spine specialist.

Am suffering extreme throat dryness at night times resulting in sleepless nights and frequent water consumption at night times to solve the dryness issue. I have cold and cough. This is happening daily from last week. Even my mom is complaining of the same. (we stay together). Pl guide.

You are having mild throat infection it seems. Please visit a ENT to rule out the same. Also do eat a chapatti less according to your schedule and see if this helps you.

You might be suffering from fever and can take tablet paracetamol with cetrizine and Eat nutritious food and have adequate fluid intake and take physical rest

Diet containing more protein, less fats and adequate carbs should be ideal for weight loss. Basically one has to reduce present intake by at least 20 percent plus and increase the workout to burn accumulated calories at your height ideal body weight should be 67 kgs, and for indians upper limit of bmi is 23kg/m2, whereas your bmi is 36.6 kgs. It way beyond limits. Few of the reasons for developing t2 dm are overweight, inactivity, excess diet, apple shaped body etc. So for you it is better to join a good gym and work under a competent instructor.

Weight gain is muscle gain and not fat gain. In your condition your energy requirement is very high so whatever you eat is used as a source of energy and you do not make muscle. To gain muscles you will have to eat at least 6 meals (high calorie) in a day at a regular interval with a proper ratio of proteins and carbohydrates. Proteins will help you gain body mass while carbohydrates will help you give energy. Protein foods are eggs, fish, chicken, milk and milk products, meat and dals. Carbohydrate foods are roti and rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes. You have to eat vegetables and fruits and use healthy and good fats for cooking like ghee, cold pressed mustrad or til oil. You will also have to do some weight training exercise to help you build mass into the body. Also drink enough water to keep you hydrated.
