Dear lybrate user. Please don’t panic. You must understand ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION. There is nothing called erectile dysfunction while having masturbation. Loosing erection in the initial stages of sex or not having erection at all or having late erection or lack of sexual desire are called erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction can be a sign of a physical or psychological condition. It can cause stress, relationship strain, and low self-confidence. The main symptom is a man's inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. Patients suffering from erectile dysfunction should first be evaluated for any underlying physical and psychological conditions. If treatment of the underlying conditions doesn't help, medications and assistive devices, such as pumps, can be prescribed. Yoga, meditation and diet could be prescribed once we know the basic reasons for it. Two natural treatments for ED that have shown promise are red ginseng and pomegranate juice. Ginseng is thought to increase nitric oxide production, leading to improved blood flow. Pomegranate juice is a potent antioxidant and can help too. Watermelon could also help. Psychological reasons usually get cleared with sex therapy. I suggest online sex therapy. Take care.

I m a pregnant women so wht is the most important care for me please tell me as soon as possible.
The first trimester of your pregnancy is the most important phase. During this phase your body undergoes various physiological and psychological changes and your baby’s major organ developments also happen simultaneously. You need to exercise certain precautions during the first trimester to avoid any serious health complications. What you do during the initial three months defines the health and wellness of your baby and that of yours too. Here are things that you should do during this trimester to ensure a smooth ride ahead. Things to do during your first trimester: • Get your required number of calories from all food groups, not just fat! Include variety of foods in the diet like whole grains, pulses, legumes and nuts. Meat, poultry, eggs and fish also provide protein. Make sure you get your calcium from milk or other food. Take 600 ml of milk or milk products every day for the calcium content. Eating during pregnancy • Get your dose of vitamin D through food like egg yolks, tuna, salmon, fortified milk, fish liver oil, or through exposure to sunlight. • Increase your intake of omega-3 fatty acids. They are necessary for the development of your baby’s brain, nerve and eye. • Take iron and folic acid supplements as prescribed by your doctor. It is important during the pre-conception and early pregnancy phase because this is when the foetus develops spine and nerve cells. • Eat frequent, smaller meals. The baby needs to be fed constantly so eat every two to three hours. • Gain weight gradually. For the optimal growth of your baby you should gain around 0.5- 2 kg in the first trimester. Get some exercise. Regular gentle exercise can help ease or prevent back pain, boost your energy, build stamina and help you prepare for the physical changes of labour and delivery. • Don’t miss your visits to the doctor. Your prenatal check-ups are your window into the womb and they help detect any issues early and can be corrected in most cases. • Increase your fluid intake. Blood volume needs to increase during pregnancy to facilitate oxygen and nutrient delivery to both you and your baby. • Get lots of sleep. Hormonal changes also make you feel worn out. So make it a point to get few naps whenever possible. • Cut down on caffeine. Large amounts of caffeine consumption and an increased risk of miscarriage have been linked in some studies. Things to avoid on your first trimester • Don’t take any medication unless necessary. Medicines taken by you can cross the placenta and enter the bloodstream of your baby. Hence it’s best to know the safety of any medications you’re taking during pregnancy – especially in the first trimester. • Don’t be too adventurous with food. Foods to be avoided during pregnancy include raw/undercooked meat, soft cheese, seafood and raw eggs. They could be possible sources of harmful bacteria and parasite. Reduce your exposure to environmental pollutants. According to a study, women exposed to elevated levels of ozone air pollution (smog) in the first three months of pregnancy may be at increased risk for complications such as preeclampsia and premature birth. • Quit smoking. Passive and active smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of health and behavioural problems in the baby and is linked to infant mortality. • Don’t drink alcohol. Alcohol can cross the placenta and reach your baby’s bloodstream. Excessive drinking impairs the mental and physical development of your baby, in what is known as foetal alcohol syndrome. Don’t get stressed, depressed. High levels of stress can affect the unborn baby’s health and increase your chances of miscarriage. • Don’t go on diet while you’re pregnant. You may end up with deficiency of iron, folic acid, vitamins and minerals which can potentially harm you and your baby. • Don’t use hot tubs/ sauna. They can raise your core body temperature which can cause dehydration and threaten the developing baby.

I'm suffering from pimples all over the body what should I do to get rid of them?

MD
Yoga & Naturopathy Specialist, Delhi
I'm suffering from pimples all over the body what should I do to get rid of them?
1)By perusal of about 200 health related questions, asked by young people it is revealed that there are three major concerns for them. Namely a) Getting rid of Pimples b) Getting rid of Obesity c) Search of fuller and muscular body. 2)Most questioners seek treatment of Pimples in some creams, or lotions. They are informed that pimples are caused by oily skin and closed pores. So reduced oil on skin and opening pores will cure them. 3)But how erroneous is this approach is demonstrated by failure of the treatment based upon the above theory. The funny part is when nothing can prevent the recurrence the blame is placed upon hormonal imbalance for which there is no definite cure. 4)What is forgotten is that the skin is also a part of the body and therefore if skin is afflicted in any way, it must be a manifestation of the problem of the entire body and not just skin. 5)Once this principle is accepted the emphasis is shifted to whole body and not to just the skin. 6)And then the line of treatment becomes logical and also successful. 7)Almost all cases of pimples are taken care of by the health tips of this month’s News Letter. By adopting this line of treatment, not only the pimples will go, general health will also improve. HEALTH TIPS: Line of treatment for pimples: 1)Start with washing the face 5-6 times a day. 2)Take an enema for first 6 six days. 3)Eat only fruits for these six days. Still better course will be to sustain on plain water for 2-3 days and then start on fruit diet. 4)Apply steam on the face once every day for first six days and then twice a week. The method for applying steam is as follows: 5)Take a vessel (Topia or Pateela or Bhagona) of about 2 kg capacity. Fill it half by water and put it to full boil. When water starts to boil cover the vessel and put it on a table. The patient sits on a chair and covers his head, shoulders, upper back and the vessel by a thick multi folded bed cover. It should be large enough to not to let the steam escape from sides. Open the vessel cover a little at a time, keeping the face close to the vessel. Inhale steam through mouth and exhale through nose. Continue opening the vessel a little more at a time till it is completely open and the flow of steam stops. Wash the face with cold water. 6)Come back to regular food but completely avoid spicy, fried foods. Eat lots of salads (not less than 200 gms with every meal) and fruits. Avoid fried foods, sugar and maida. 7)If you continue this way not only the pimples will go, the general health will also improve. The patients will experience reduced bouts of cold and cough. Sinus congestion will also be removed. 8)The obesity matter is already discussed many times in the past. The search for fuller muscular body will be taken up later. CAUTION: 1)Dengue and rains have become synonymous in India. It stops only when the winter sets in. 2)The Municipal Authorities and Government health departments try to stop it by killing of mosquitoes and by distributing vaccines etc. 3)Whatever they do neither the reach can be wide enough nor the effectiveness is assured. 4)More over many people believe that the whole exercise is just futile. In recent years many virus are stopped but all of them are replaced by new ones, which are more potent and more dangerous. 5)This vicious circle is continuing unabated. 6)In fact all efforts should be towards improved hygiene and improvement of immunity levels. 7)When will the governments understand it and take proper steps, no one knows, but as an individual, everyone can do a lot to achieve better immunity levels. 8)Do not take antibiotics without proper advice. Once started do not quit them without completing the course. 9)Follow the advice from this NL for Navaratry routine, twice every year. It will surely improve immunity levels. 10)Rains call for Chai Pakoras. Please avoid them. These are doing no good to anyone. Eat light and exercise regularly. MONTH’S RECEPIE: Water melon juice: Prepare watermelon juice in a juicer which does not separate the pulp but converts it into semi liquid so that it can be taken as a part of juice. Cut some watermelon in small pieces of less than half inch. Mix with juice. Have some mint leaves, duly washed and cut. Pour the juice in glasses and garnish with mint leaves. Serve chilled. This delicious juice is a mine full of antioxidants, nutrients and fiber. If desired, one can also add some lemon juice and salt.

Tell me any treatment for dengue fever and tell me also the symptoms of dengue fever. And how long will it remain in body?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Tell me any treatment for dengue fever and tell me also the symptoms of dengue fever. And how long will it remain in ...
Common signs and symptoms of dengue fever include: high fever, possibly as high as 105°F (40°C) pain behind the eyes and in the joints, muscles and/or bones. Severe headache. Rash over most of the body. Mild bleeding from the nose or gums. Bruising easily. Because dengue is caused by a virus, there is no specific medicine or antibiotic to treat it, the only treatment is to treat the symptoms. For typical dengue, the treatment is purely concerned with relief of the symptoms (symptomatic). Rest and fluid intake for adequate hydration is important.

Dear madam, I have done a lot of mistakes in my life. And didn't study well. So jobless. We r two sisters. Always it is in my mind that if I won't work how I LL see my parents in future. Bt as I hav neglected so much always depressed over were to start. Moreover my in laws r pathetic. whatever ill they say that only goes in my mind very now and then. Consciously or unconsciously. To overcome it I sleep maximum tym. No regularity in life. My husband is very supportive in every case. Bt his encouragement always beaten my so called uncontrolled negative thoughts. I have become mean. Bt already I am 27. I get angry so easily. If ever I talk to someone I love I get irritated. I don't feel normal and cool. I behave very bad in anger. I am very frustrated. I know if I get a job everything will b fine. Bt for tat wer to start and wen I LL get. Moreover to give birth a kid is an additional pressure. I love baby. Bt I just don't want it coz of anyone's want or self. I want it to complete my family. Bt nt under pressure or in such frustrating mindset of mine. I qualify all qualities of depression as far as I have surfed net. Bt always think tat will power can make it better. Bt truly I have gone to frustration, lethargy, negativity all at once. Dear madam, I have done a lot of mistakes in my life. And didn't study well. So jobless. We r two sisters. Always it ...
I appreciate your openness and your acceptance of your perceived mistakes. I also think that it is wise to sort out your emotions before you have a baby. Now, please understand that we all make mistakes in life. We have to see that we don't repeat the mistakes and learn from past experiences. Also, you need to forgive yourself for your past mistakes. Remember -" if one door closes, another one opens" - if you think you did not study well, you may try to find an occupation which is related to your hobby e. G. If you love to paint - start something on your own which involves painting work, or if you are health conscious, learn yoga so that you yourself can become a trainer. Because by doing this you will start earning money and then your concern about how to look after your parents will get sorted out. If your mother is a depression patient, don't think that your condition will be like her. You two are different individuals and are likely to have different life problems. Technology and medicines have advanced a lot, since your mother's time. So don't think that if you go to a doctor, you will become like your mother. But if you think you need help and if you don't go to a doctor, in time, then certainly you are inviting trouble. If you seriously feel that you are sad most of the times, the please talk to a counsellor/psychologist who will help you in finding the cause of your depresssion and will also help in assessing your depression. Talking to a counsellor will help you in managing your anger and other negative thoughts. Don't rely on the internet for final diagnosis, it is good only to have basic information. You are not able to sleep at night, because probably you are sleeping a lot during day time. Your in-laws may have sensed that somehting is not ok with you or you are not happy, and hence may be worried about you and your husband and your future. Kindly seek professional help. Take care.

My dear lybrate-user, fenugreek seeds will not help you. Your weight gain could be a hormonal disturbance like pcod. For that you need to go go a gynaecologist and find the reason for the weight gain. For that you will have to get blood tests done like fsh, lh, prolactin, tsh. Also you need an ultrasound pelvis and medication.

Stress management is all about taking charge: of your lifestyle, thoughts, emotions, and the way you deal with problems. No matter how stressful your life seems, there are steps you can take to relieve the pressure and regain control. First of all. Think about 1. What caused your stress (make a guess if you’re unsure) 2. How you felt, both physically and emotionally 3. How you acted in response 4. What you did to make yourself feel better Here you have not mentioned anything in detail. So initially you may try some relaxation techniques Relax. You deserve it, it's good for you, and it takes less time than you think. Here comes some relaxation techniques. Try them 1. Meditation: A few minutes of practice per day can help ease. “Research suggests that daily meditation may alter the brain’s neural pathways, making you more resilient to stress,”  It's simple. Sit up straight with both feet on the floor. Close your eyes. Focus your attention on reciting -- out loud or silently -- a positive mantra such as “I feel at peace” or “I love myself.” Place one hand on your belly to sync the mantra with your breaths. Let any distracting thoughts float by like clouds. 2. Breathe Deeply Take a 5-minute break and focus on your breathing. Sit up straight, eyes closed, with a hand on your belly. Slowly inhale through your nose, feeling the breath start in your abdomen and work its way to the top of your head. Reverse the process as you exhale through your mouth. 3. Reach Out Your social network is one of your best tools for handling stress. Talk to others -- preferably face to face, or at least on the phone. Share what's going on. You can get a fresh perspective while keeping your connection strong. There are many more techniques. Try this first and observe whether there is a change.
