Hello Doctor, I wear spectacle but because wearing turban I bought lenses today I tried to apply them on my eyes one was successfully done and when I applied another I felt blurry so I tried to remove But on right side I am confused, that my lenses took out or not? I did not find anywhere I tried to take it out from eye. M confused Please tell me if this would b in my eye how can I remove it? Will it create problem. I'M VERY SCARED PLEASE SUGGEST ME.

MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Rewa
Dear:- you have started contact lens wearing recently. Insertion of cl: the moistened cl is placed on tip of right finger, & brought to eye, while the lids r retracted and eye gazes steadily at approaching cl until it is applied gently to cornea. When in position the upper lid is released first & then lower lid. Removal of cl: the eye is opened widely so that lid margins r beyond edge of lens. Index finger is placed at outer can nothus possibly touching sclera & with firm pressure backward stretches the skin & therewith the lid laterally. The taught lids expel lens which will either dislocate on to lashes or on to waiting hand.

My eyes are getting tears automatically when ever I took my specs of and some time with specs I'm getting tears what should I do?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

Your eye are getting tears due to straining of your eyes and it shows that there is a further weakening in your eyesight. So my advise for you is to visit an opthalmologist for a physical examination of your eyes for a thorough chk up for any further weak eye power------------------

About a year ago my friend had an eye infection which had a white line on the eyeball and redness of eye. He consulted a Dr. and it was fine then after 6 months again same problem happened and again it was cured but now it happened after 3 months its reoccurring and happening frequently how can this be cured or any precautions to be taken for this ?

Based on the history you have given, it looks like corneal ulcer probably viral, which usually recurs. If that is the case then probably need to go for anti viral medication. But consult a good corneal specialist.

I am 24 year old male, and I use MacBook Pro for 10 hours a day. Can it affect my eye sight? I have been using computers 8 hours since 6 years. And no eye problems. I do not even have spectacles. Every day naked eye sees 10 hours of laptop screen.

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Pune
Instructions for computer use: take frequent breaks while you are working every 20-25 mins take break to look away from screen blink more frequently' level of screen should be below the level of eyes ac should not blow directly on your face. Also get your eyes checked for any spectacle power.

My eye is kcaratoconoused I got c3r done. Will my huge power of 7 decrease after continuously wearing the power glasses.

MD in Ophthalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user! c3r generally reduces or stops progression. In some cases reversal or decrease in power can happen. In your case and age I don, t expect much progression. Stability of glasses number is the desired goal. Wearing glasses has no bearing on glasses number.

I have red eyes for many days what should I do my friend also have problems like this what should I do.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

Eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: • Eye dryness • Too much sun exposure • Dust or other particles in the eye • Allergies • Infection • Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. These may be due to: • Blepharitis: Swelling along the edge of the eyelid. • Conjunctivitis: Swelling or infection of the clear tissue that lines the eyelids and covers the surface of the eye (the conjunctiva). This is often referred to as "pink eye." • Corneal ulcers: Sores on the cornea most often caused by a serious bacterial or viral infection. • Uveitis: Inflammation of the uvea, which includes the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. The cause is most often not known. It may be related to an autoimmune disorder, infection, or exposure to toxins. The type of uveitis that causes the worst red eye is called iritis, in which only the iris is inflamed. Other potential causes of eye redness include: • Colds or allergies . • Acute glaucoma: A sudden increase in eye pressure that is extremely painful and causes serious visual problems. This is a medical emergency. The more common form of glaucoma is chronic and gradual. • Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. So,visit a local eyespecialist if your problem is in routine. The diagnosis of your problem in eyes can only be made by local examination of eyes

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
Hi, Glaucoma needs continuous long term followup. You may need one or more eye drops added to timolol, or be prescribed a replacement for it. Any eye drop prescribed, needs to be reviewed for the required efficacy (desired result achieved in you or not) and for any unwanted side effects.

Hello, you are having dark circles.Follow the below tips to remove the dark circles. Take healthy balanced diet including whole grains, green leafy vegetables, fruits and nuts. Drink 10 to 12 glasses of water daily. Take a sound sleep of 8 hours minimum. Apply bakson's under eye cream on the dark circles. Apply Ramdev's aloe vera gel on the whole face at night. Home remedy:-1.Cucumbers have skin-lightening and mild astringent properties that help fix those raccoon eyes naturally. Plus, they have a soothing and refreshing effect. Cut a fresh cucumber into thick slices and chill them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Put the slices onto the affected skin area for about 10 minutes. Wash the area with water. Repeat twice daily for about a week or more. Another option is to mix cucumber juice with lemon juice in equal amounts. Use a cotton ball to apply the mixture on the affected skin. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash it off with water. Follow this remedy daily for at least one week.

6 Common Retinal Diseases

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology, Diploma in Ophthalmology , Fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment
Ophthalmologist, Ahmedabad
6 Common Retinal Diseases

The retina is the third and innermost layer of the eye that catches light and helps us focus on things so that we can see clearly. This is one of the most important parts of the eye. The retina is made up of a number of light sensitive cells that are connected to nerve fibres. These nerve fibres help in transmitting the light into imagery through neuro impulses that reach the brain. There are many conditions and diseases that can affect this part of the eye.

Read on to know more.

  1. Macular degeneration: This is a common eye disease that is usually associated with aging and comes with symptoms like blurry vision and even blindness after a certain point. It can prevent a person from seeing things in a clear and sharp manner. This disease goes through a slow progression and can be of the dry or wet type.
  2. Diabetic retinopathy: This condition can leave one visually impaired in the long run with complete blindness. This complication usually arises when a person is suffering from diabetes. It can be proliferative or non-proliferative depending on the blood and fluid leakage as well as the severity of the inflammation in the retina. While the symptoms are very subtle, the advancement can begin at a very young age.
  3. Retinal vein occlusion: This condition usually happens when the veins of the retina gets obstructed or gets a blockage. This can lead to reduced blood flow to the entire area which can lead to significant vision impairment and an increase in the pressure on the eyes.
  4. Retinal tears and detachments: When the retina gets pulled and is subsequently lifted from its normal position, this can lead to a condition known as retinal tears and detachment. If this condition is not treated properly and on time, it can lead to vision loss in the long run. These tears can happen in smaller sections of the retina which can lead to retinal breaks causing detachments in the retina. This condition is most commonly seen in people over the age of 60.
  5. Posterior vitreous detachment: The vitreous is a gel like layer that allows the eye to retain its shape even as it allows the light to enter the eye and reach the retina. When the thin fibres connecting this layer and the retina get degenerated, there is a detachment that takes place between the two, leading to this condition.
  6. Epiretinal membrane and macular holes: The scar like tissue known as the epiretinal membrane that lines the back of the eyes. When the macular tissue gets distorted due to this membrane, a macular hole may form which can lead to progressive vision impairment.

My eyes are in yellow colour from a long time onwards. How can I change my eye colour to white. Is yellow coloured eyes is any symptom of any diseases.

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Yellow colour/paleness of eyes is not a disease but an indication of underlying disease. Yellow eyes along with yellow urine strongly suggests jaundice which can be due to various reasons like obstructive jaundice or simple hepatitis etc, I strongly advice you to visit a physician and get few tests like live function tests, ultrasonography abdomen done and clinical correlation
