Norma level of vit D is between between 20-50 ng/ml. A level less than 20 ng/ml indicates Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D3 is essential for healthy bone, teeth, muscle, cell growth, immunity,neuro muscular functioning and overall health. Deficiency causes ricket/osteomalacia, poor hair growth, increased risk of cancer. Treatment-Vitamin D3 60,000 unit/wk for 3 -6 months 1. Expose yourself to sunlight for 15-20 minutes daily in the morning 2. Take Milk, cheese, egg yolk, Fish (salmon/mackerel/ trout/sardines/tuna) cod liver oil, Mushroom, cereals, orange juice. 3. If you have deficiency of Vitamin D you have to take Vitamin D supplement 60000IU/week fo r 3 months after consulting physician.

1. Make wise food choices. 2. Limit sweets. 3. Eat less fat. 4. Eat plenty of whole grain foods, fruits, and vegetables. 5. Eat often. 6. Carefully control your intake of carbohydrates. 7. Eat a set amount of food. 8. Stick to regular meal times. 9. Avoid temptation.

Noodles and pasta are rich in calories and have high amount of carbohydrates. They are easy to make and also saves cooking time. If you are a non-vegetarian, you can also add lean chicken and a lot of vegetables to the noodles and pasta that will convert it into a high calorie and nutritious food and provide you essential minerals and proteins.

Dear lybrate user, increasing weight does not mean that you will go fatty. In fact, extra fat serves as a precursor of many diseases. In order to increase your weight as well as stay healthy you have to increase the muscle mass of your body. Normally a muscle undergoes an increase in size when it gets hypertrophied due to weight training. Weight-training leads to the pumping of blood to the muscle resulting in increased protein synthesis in the muscles. This applies to every muscles of human body. So, weight training is a must to increase weight. Whenever a muscle gets hypertrophied it demands protein to expand. Here comes the need of protein supplement. The most effective protein supplement is whey protein. For quicker & better results take 40 grams of whey just after waking from sleep at morning. Take another 20 grams of whey just 30 minutes before workout. Again take 40 grams of whey just after you have finished your workout. Kindly remember gaining weight is a time -taking process. So do not expect any result within fortnight.

Healthy weight gain means more increase in muscles and to a certain extent fat in order to support those muscles. Just eating anything or high calorie foods will result in only fat gain which will not give you a proper body shape and will also be detrimental later in life.

Nuts, such as almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds and flax seeds, are full of calories and make the perfect snack between meals. Munch on them to enjoy their taste, nutrients and of course weight gain. Nuts contain healthy fats and are a healthy way to increase your weight. However, do not stuff yourself with them, as you will not feel hungry for your next meal.

It is normal to have little pain and heaviness in the stitches while moving after 1 & 1/2 months of delivery. You can ask your wife to take 2 glasses of lime water daily and with some multi-vitamin tablets for 15 days so that the healing of stitch line is fast. I think that she will recover meanwhile. If still she complains, ask her to see a local doctor for the same.

The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I being a registered dietitian strongly accommodate the patients own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets availiable online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. Hye. Thankyou for the query. When you workout you expend energy. Your nutrition needs also increase. If you suddenly and totally stop exercise you cut down energy expenditure drastically. Also your intake now becomes much more than your output. This will not only cause weight or fat gain but you might also observe change in energy levels and reduced flexibility and you may lose out on toning of muscles So, avoid total stoppage of workout. Try to continue at least some workout, maybe, thrice a week. It could be any sport or other activity you like and can manage. Running, jogging or walking also will be fine.

Some tips for weight gain :- 1) Eat lots of protein. 2) Eat lots of carbohydrate and fat rich foods. 3) Eat lots of energy-dence foods anf use sauces, spices and condiments. 4) lift heavy weights and improve your health. 5) Don't drink water before meals. 6) Drink milk and milk products. 7) Try weight gainer shakes. 8) Use bigger plates. 9) Use cream to your coffee and tea. 10) Take creatine. 11) Take proper rest. 12) Take lots of fruits and vegetables.

I am diabetic for the past 4 years, my age is 43, I am taking zitamet in the morning and glyzephage sr 500 at night. It is 6 months since I last met my doctor, currently my sugar levels are 140 in empty stomach and 190 post prandial. Shall I continue with the same medicines?

Your levels are ok. They can be still better. Continue the same. Check your hba1c level it should be around 6.5 per cent.

Hi firstly, start doing surya namaskar in morning and start eating triphla chooran (natural medicine) in morning empty stomach with luke warm water. Start a fruit dieting every alternative day, means you have to eat fruits every alternative days & normal fruit every other alternative days. Avoid late night dinners and try to eat nothing after sunset. Sit in vajrasana after every meal you eat for 10 minutes. Walk atleast 30 min in morning.

Do contrast bath therapy Take hot water in one tub & cold water in another. First dip your hands upto wrist in hot water for 3 min then immediately in cold water for 1 min, keep repeating for 20 min, twice daily Take rest breaks of 5-10 min in between work Do hand stretches If pain still persists apply pain relieving gel & wrap crepe bandage.
