do you have pain on cheek bones on pressing it? hot fomentation is really helpful in sinus besides drink fluids, such as water or juice. This will help dilute mucous secretions and promote drainage. Avoid beverages that contain caffeine or alcohol, as they can be dehydrating. Drinking alcohol can also worsen the swelling of the lining of the sinuses and nose. Moisturize your sinus cavities. Drape a towel over your head as you breathe in the vapor from a bowl of medium-hot water. Keep the vapor directed toward your face. Or take a hot shower, breathing in the warm, moist air. This will help ease pain and help mucus drain. Apply warm compresses to your face. Place warm, damp towels around your nose, cheeks and eyes to ease facial pain. Rinse out your nasal passages. Use a specially designed squeeze bottle (sinus rinse, others), saline canister or neti pot to rinse your nasal passages. This home remedy, called nasal lavage, can help clear your sinuses. If you make your own rinse, use water that's contaminant-free distilled, sterile, previously boiled and cooled, or filtered using a filter with an absolute pore size of 1 micron or smaller to make up the irrigation solution. Also be sure to rinse the irrigation device after each use with contaminant-free water, and leave open to air-dry. Sleep with your head elevated. This will help your sinuses drain, reducing congestion. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Allergic Bronchitis - Ayurvedic Treatment Options for it

A respiratory disorder, the inflammation of the lining in the bronchial tubes, which are responsible for carrying air to and from your lungs is known as bronchitis. Allergic bronchitis is a disorder that develops, if you have severe allergies which result in a bronchial immune system reaction.

Allergic Bronchitis requires medical diagnosis by your healthcare provider who can differentiate the allergic form of bronchitis from the normal form of bronchitis by searching for other symptoms related to the allergy. Allergic bronchitis often occurs due to seasonal allergies, making it an acute condition. If you are suffering from lingering bronchitis issues caused due to allergies, an allergy test is recommended so that the doctor can accurately assess the condition.

I am breastfeeding mom of 1.8 year baby girl. I want to stop lactation but baby sucks while go to sleep two times. But I produce huge supply. If I take cabgolin and then breastfeed will it harm my baby? If harm her then after how many days of taking cabgolin can I let her suck again? Its not a fact if breast milk remains or not. Baby just get nipple in her mouth and sleep quickly. Pls help.

Breastfeeding is advised to continue even beyond 2 years of age. If would prefer to continue breastfeeding as baby likes. It gives good psychological impact n a sense of satisfaction too. So I will not advise for use of cabgolin for drying of breast. If it is being used for other reasons, breastfeeding is not advisable.

Best treatment is to identify the cause of it and remove it. Otherwise inhalers can be of help. Regular good exercise can decrease allergy

I am having cough and sneezes and a bad head ache. I too have my nose running. Is there any homely methods to overcome it.

Firstly there's no lifelong cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are only effective against infections of throat and are of no use against cold viruses. Over-the-counter (otc) cold preparations won't cure a common cold or make it go away any sooner, and most have side effects. A saltwater gargle 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2tsp turmeric dissolved in a glass of warm water can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat. To help relieve nasal congestion, try saline (pure salt water) nasal drops.

I am suffering from chronic asthma with sever condition. I am working for service based company. Why I am getting cold even working at 40°C environment. Is there any kind of allergy responsible for it?

MBBS, DNB - Pulmonary Medicine, Allergy & Sleep Disorders

Yes. There is probably some constant exposure in the environment which is worsening your asthma all the time. Get a proper checkup done along with pulmonary function test and allergy test for proper control of asthma and allergy.
