According to a study 70% of cyclist overextend the area between their pelvis and the lower end of the spine. Core strength is very important in lower back pain. Your core strength includes your back muscles. These muscles all work together to give your core stability. Focus on strengthening your core when your working and that will help with your lower back pain. Having poor spinal health due to bad posture (on and off the bike) can cause lower back pain while riding. Lack of flexibility can contribute to lower back pain while riding a bike. Stretch and avoid tightness in your hamstrings and legs. Avoid raising handlebars so that your spine is in an upright position. A straight back doesn't allow any give when you hit road bumps, and will only make your vertebrae jam together, which will aggravate existing back pain. Riding style can cause lower back pain especially when climbing or changing big gears. The angle of your back is increasing and decreasing causing a strain on your back. Make sure your seat is in the right position. Tilt the front tip of your saddle down about 10 to 15 degrees. This little adjustment will pressure off your pelvis and lower spine. Seat height should be so that your down leg is fully extended when the heel of that foot is on the pedal in the 6 o'clock position. Have the ball of that foot on the pedal; there should be a slight bend in your knee in the down position. Don’t lock your knees! Having your knees lock can cause injury and an upsetting feeling in your lower back.

Knee pain in right leg since about a month. In any position, becomes stiff in about 20 minutes. Pain. Difficulty in movement. Totally avoiding squating. No habit of taking pain killers. What do u suggest.

U can do stretching exercises of calf muscle and dorsiflexors to avoid stiffness. Avoid cross leg sitting,weight bearing and stair climbing. Give hot formentation followed by analgesic cream massage.

I am diabetic since 2008. Some time I feel weakness in my legs. I can't sit on chair continuously even for half an hour. I have to stretch my legs and in car my legs, especially right leg gets so tired. Kindly suggest. Thanks.

Dear Lybrate user, Take care of your diet first. Do not take rice cold drinks coffee Linda etc. Sweets you must avoid. Do massage daily of your calf muscles at night with seasame oil. Take vitamin D daily with calcium. Also rake echo sprain daily one tablet.

My uncle is 52 years old. He is addicted to alcohol. He drinks 2 pegs daily at night usually at 9 o clock. He has complaint of having pain in knees and arm. The pain in knee and arm is not related to Alcohol. In any case he should reduce the pegs to one. For pain he needs to do yoga asans like Bhujang asan, Makarasan, in which the neck is bent backwards. Avoid bending your neck forward as much as you can.

Shoulder Hot Fomentation. Gentle Shoulder Stretching. Core Strengthening Exercises. Gentle Neck Exercises. Avoid sleeping on affected side. Warm up and cool down is a must. Hot fomentation. Neck Advice Neck Exercises. Neck Stretching.Postural Correction. Shoulder Shrugs. Take frequent Breaks at work. Core Strengthening Exercises. Use cervical pillow. Use Back Support. Self Massage the back of neck.

Multiple Joint Pains / Early morning painIt is called as Rheumatic arthritis. If your pain is more in the distal joints, ie. In the upper limbs if the pain is present in the fingers/wrist and in the lower limbs it the pain is present in the toes/ ankle, then we shall definitely say it is Rheumatic arthritis. Wear elbow brace and wrist brace which will make her to feel warm and that will make the joints become firm. Hot water fermentation will help Knee cap will also help to prevent the damaged cartilages. If your pain is more in the distal joints, ie. In the upper limbs if the pain is present in the fingers/wrist and in the lower limbs it the pain is present in the toes/ ankle, then we shall definitely say it is Rheumatic arthritis. Which joints you have pain? If your proximal joints (ie. Shoulder, hip & knee has pain) then you can pour hot (warm) water in that area to reduce the inflammation. If you have pain in the distal joints ie. Wrist, fingers, ankle, toes then you can wear either elbow brace or wrist brace which will help you to feel warm and very protective. And also immerse the distal joints in the hot water tub which will help you to reduce the pain. Consult the near by physiotherapy clinic and also consult a general physician to check with your ESR levels to check whether you have inflammation.

Apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha yograj guggul 1-1 twice a day after lunch and dinner. Take maharasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Avoid tea. Coffee. Junk food. Spicy food. Fermented food. Take green vegetables. Drink juice. Eat fruits. Drink 7-8 glass of water in a day. Continue medicines as advised. You need diet modification. Don't eat cabbage and red meat. Take some analgesics now for pain relief. Reduce weight.

1. Drink plenty of water. 2. Take fresh fruit everyday. 3. Start with calcium, vitamin D 3 and Methylcobalmine supplement for one month.
