Uveitis has diverse etiology. And indicates some disease activity in the body. Nonetheless in 30-50 % cases an extensive work up yields no clue as to the systemic disorder. These causes can be infections, inflammatory or auto-immune. Depending on cause, severity of disease the natural history has very wide variations. With modern therapies, most cases do well with regular treatment. Some of these causes may be inherited. If you r worried about them, it is best to go for genetic counselling before planning a child. It is not wise to plan a pregnancy while on treatment as it definitely increases risks for baby. But with due caution and care, a healthy baby and mother is a good possibility.

Why Our Eyes Twitch?

Cornea Cataract & Lasik
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Why Our Eyes Twitch?

Eye twitching, tics in the eyelids and spasms in the eye are pretty common. In case of eye twitching, usually the lower eyelid becomes involved. The upper eyelid may also twitch in certain cases. Twitches are not permanent in nature, and they leave after some time. In some cases, eye twitching may last for long durations of time such as weeks or months.

Eye twitching is not a critical medical condition. It is a temporary prickling and irritation in the eyes, which ceases after some time. Common twitching of the eyes is not related to any neurological disorder.

Here are some reasons which cause eye twitches:

  • Stress: Every individual goes through some amount of stress, and the body reacts differently in different people as a result of stress. An eye twitch may be caused due to stress, especially related to strain in the eyes. In order to reduce stress you should practice yoga, meditation, perform breathing exercises and take a break. Reducing the stress would also cease the twitching in the eyes.
  • Tiredness: Eye twitching can appear when you are fatigued or very tired. Lack of proper sleep makes your body tired, and this might trigger eye twitching.
  • You should improve upon your sleeping hours and sleep more.
  • Eye strain: Vision problems and any issue related to the eyes can cause stress, which may result in constant twitching in your eyes. Whenever too much stress is imposed upon your eyes, they tend to react and twitching occurs. Any problem would make the eyes put in more effort, which results in strain. You should have an eye check up if you experience an eye strain accompanied by twitching sensation in your eyes. People who use computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones for a profuse period of time experience pain and twitching in the eyes. There is a 20-20-20 rule to be followed while using such devices, which reduces eye strain and reduces itching or twitching. You can also avail special eyeglasses for people who spend a lot of time on computers.
  • Caffeine: Intake of an excess amount of caffeine leads to eye twitching. Cut down your doses of coffee, tea, dark chocolates and soft drinks in case of eye twitching and you may observe an easing in the twitching.
  • Alcohol: Alcohol also leads to eye twitching so you must abstain from alcohol in case you are having twitching in the eyes.
  • Dry eyes: This disorder develops in people who have crossed the age of 50. People who use computers a lot also develop dry eyes, which leads to eye twitching.

Our eyes twitch because of a lot of reasons. You should know the facts right and avoid situations that lead to eye twitching.

When I stand up after 2-3 hour sitting I fell pain in my heel and my eyes ate dry also.
Hello lybrate-user. Regarding dry eyes, I have a few suggestions for you: (1) the first thing to remember is that long term continuous usage of mobile phones or computers is harmful for the eyes. Ranging from dry eyes to multiple postural defects, there are many consequences. The good news is that there are simple tips and solutions to avoid these problems from occurring. Let me enumerate them in brief: avoid continued staring at computer screens, television. Mobiles, books, etc. Continuous staring tends to aggravate dry eye condition. (2) follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. (3) another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Remember the rule of 90. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. (4) also remember the rule of 1. At least 1 time in a day, wash your eyes with clean hands and clean water in a gentle manner. Exercise for at least 1 hour in a day. Try to spend 1 hour with nature. (eg. In a park, garden, etc.) (5) you could consider preservative free lubricant eye drops 4 to 5 times daily. (eg. Tears naturale ii eye drops) these eye drops would ensure that your eyes stay well lubricated and fresh. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. You could also use a preservative free lubricant eye drop 4 to 5 times in a day. Also, adequate sleep of 7 hours a day is essential in order to maintain healthy eyes.

Continuously reading small print without proper light should be avoided. Smart phone may cause strain. Don't expose your eyes to extreme sunny weather of cold windy weather. Don't be closer to people with eye infections as you may contact the infection. Get your eyes tested for any vision problem. Hello, you should do the below given exercises to strengthen your ocular muscles. Exercises for eyes: warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids.

The pain of eyes is due to staining on eyes .While watching TV or using mobile for long intervals continuously, eyes get exhausted. While watching TV/Mobile make sure that the lightening in room is proper and you are at least at a distance of 10 Feet from TV to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the TV/Mobile screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of TV/Mobile usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

By your history i think there is a vein occlusion inside her eye. Get her lipid profile checked (cholesterol, HDL, LDL, VLDL etc.) See to that she maintains her cholesterol levels and BP. Get her eyes checked regularly by a retina specialist. Depending on the area involved, amount of bleeding, time taken for resolution, she may need some intaocular injections and/or laser therapy.

a high blood sugar level and blood pressure puts you at risk of major sight threatening intra- and postoperative complications. A cataract surgery is a planned surgery and rarely an emergency. It is not worth risking ur eye and life for a surgery that can be planned. Please control ur blood sugars...If required take insulin. These levels should bee in control preop as well as postoperative for at least 15 days if not lifelong.
