I have a lot of itching in my scalp from the last 7-8 years and also dandruff, and due to scratching I am losing hair. I have tried all sorts of remedies for dandruff but nothing has helped. Once I was told by some doctor that I am suffering from Rosacea. Could this be the reason for the itching in my scalp? Is there any remedy to it?

Fellowship in dermatosurgery, MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy, MBBS
Dermatologist, Mumbai
Although rosacea can lead to itching in the scalp, in your situation, seborrhic dermatitis is the chief cause for scalp itching. You need to start using 2% ketoconazole shampoo alternate days with 5 minutes of contact time under expert guidance. It will definitely help with dandruff.

Am 23 years female. Am suffering from sever headache since many years i. E; from 10th onwards.. Tell me what I should do to feel free from it.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Cronic, recurrent headache is your chief complaint. Females commonly suffer from migraine which runs in the family. Check if the headache happens on exposure to bright sun. Before periods. Etc. If there is a positive family history. It reconfirms the diagnosis. Usually there are features like nausea/vomiting along with headache. As its been there since many years, it is unlikely that you have not gone for thorough check up. If nothing has been done, consult a physician and do some tests as he /she suggests. There are treatment for migraine. Diagnosing the cause is important.

I'm frequently get ill because of cold and often by typhoid. Is my immunity level is low or there is serious issues regarding our municipal water supply?

AUTLS, CCEDM, MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
There are several things you can do to prevent a cold?they are all easy and inexpensive and worth the effort. Wash your hands often-with soap and warm water. Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. Cover Your Mouth and Nose When You Sneeze or Cough. Stay Home When You?re Sick-Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, don?t smoke, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food so you can fend off viruses. Take healthy balanced diet...like boiled eggs.daily in breakfast .. Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. TREATMENT:There is a gradual 1-3 day onset of symptoms. It often starts out as a sore throat, then a fever and coughing. As the cold progresses, the nasal mucus may thicken which is the last stage before the cold dries up. A cold usually lasts for a week or two. But, taking good care of yourself at home can relieve symptoms and help prevent complications if you are otherwise healthy. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn?t need medical treatment. Complications like infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. In general you should: ? get plenty of rest so your body can use its energy to fight the cold ? staying at home will keep you from spreading germs ? drink plenty of liquids like herbal tea or hot broth/vegetable/tomato soups. Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can keep you from getting enough sleep Runny Nose and Sneezing- gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. Drink extra fluids. Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation ? Tablet Nasorest-P once/twice daily may reduce the amount of mucous. ? Do steam inhalation once or twice daily Cough- Unless your cough is severe or is keeping you from resting at night, it is better not to treat it. There are two types of coughs. Productive and non-productive( dry cough). Non-productive, dry cough. A dry cough may develop near the end of a cold that are often worse at night and can last up to several weeks. Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough. Productive cough. A productive cough is one that brings up mucus from the back of the throat or the lungs. Productive coughs should not be suppressed to the point they no longer bring up mucus. Use syrup Alex. Drink lots of water if you have a productive cough.get chest xray done if cough lasts for more than a week and consult doctor immediately . Head and Body Aches- Take tablet dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily take ro water ,municipal water supply may not be hygienic

If your BP is normal then there should be o reason to worry. Even then, for relief you must sleep when the baby sleeps. This is what we advise new mothers. Apply a balm like Dynapar and take P 650 or Crocin tablet. Drink plenty of fluids and eat properly. If you like, contact me for a detailed advice on food, bleeding piles etc.

I have problem with my prostate. I am facing problem with my urine. I have take many treatment with doctors but no relief.

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Faridabad
Prostatitis treatments vary depending on the underlying cause. They can include: Antibiotics. This is the most commonly prescribed treatment for prostatitis. Your doctor will base the choice of medication on the type of bacteria that may be causing your infection. If you have severe symptoms, you may need intravenous (IV) antibiotics. You'll likely need to take oral antibiotics for four to six weeks but may need longer treatment for chronic or recurring prostatitis. Alpha blockers. These medications help relax the bladder neck and the muscle fibers where your prostate joins your bladder. This treatment may lessen symptoms, such as painful urination. Anti-inflammatory agents. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may make you more comfortable. Prostate massage. This is done by your physician using a lubricated, gloved finger — a procedure similar to a digital rectal exam. It may provide some symptom relief, but doctors disagree about how effective it is. Other treatments. Other potential treatments for prostatitis are being studied. These treatments include heat therapy with a microwave device and drugs based on certain plant extracts
