My fasting blood sugar level is about 140 and whereas the random levels are varying from 125-150. Please suggest.
If your fasting levels are above 126mg% means you have confirmed diabetes. It is advisable to maintain random below 140% and hba1c below 6.4% that is pre diabetic range.

Normal level of vit D is between between 20-50 ng/ml. A level less than 20 ng/ml indicates Vitamin D deficiency. 1. Expose yourself to sunlight for 15-20 minutes daily in the morning 2. Take Milk, cheese, egg yolk, Fish (salmon/mackerel/ trout/sardines/tuna) cod liver oil, Mushroom, cereals, orange juice. 3. If you have deficiency of Vitamin D you have to take Vitamin D supplement 60000IU/week fo r 3 months after consulting physician.

Infertile men more prone to diabetes

MD
Sexologist, Srinagar
Infertile men more prone to diabetes
Infertile men more prone to diabetes

Men diagnosed with the fertility related issues or infertility are more susceptible to type 2 diabetes according to recently published study.

The study recommends routine visits of such patients for check-up. The rates of infertility among men are rising due to changing lifestyle, dietary habits, stress and other physiological factors.

The scientists have been studying the associated factors for infertility. Now for the first time scientists have studied the effects of infertility on general ailments.

The scientists from stanford university, school of medicine conducted the study which showed that patients diagnosed with infertility have a greater risk of developing other conditions such as ischemic heart disease, type 2 diabetes compared to fertile men.

The scientists conducted retrospective study in which they assessed the medical records of over 1, 15, 000 men filed between 2001 and 2009.

The scientists scrutinized the men's medical visits before and after fertility testing to determine what health complications they developed in the years after fertility evaluations. They compared general health conditions of men with infertility diagnoses to men without the diagnoses and to men who underwent vasectomy.
The results of the study showed that the infertile men had higher rates of most diseases the researchers had shortlisted.

The scientists found that the infertile men had higher rates of diabetes even when the results were adjusted for the obesity. They found similar results for ischemic heart diseases.

The scientists have wished to expand their research to check physiological relationships between these conditions. Meanwhile, scientists have recommended that infertile men should regularly undergo health check-ups in order to prevent of onset of these conditions.

Diabetes affects all organs in the body ? Eyes, kidneys, nerves, reproductive system all are affected, In fact, from toe to hair. For diabetic control, patient and doctor should be n constant touch for regular follow up and advice. It is not as easy task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose ? SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS),& HbA1C ( inform me ) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For sugar control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me privately with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take.

Any blood sample even after of proper dietary precautions is above 200mg/%, it is most likely that you have diabetes. Do not get disheartened or careless. Please aim to keep most of your blood samples at different types at normal through out. You have to keep your sugar levels normal through out. Continue to diet and exercise regularly. Follow the advice of a Good Physician and Diabetologist permanently. No self medication or unscientific methods. It is not at all difficult.

Few details are required to give correct advise, like weight, height, waist circumference, level of physical activity every day and the dosage of medications taken. Ppg 0.2 needs to be taken with each meal with first bite. As regards the food on tour one can stick to dal roti, salads, curd and a little rice (if needed). Breakfast could be upama, 2 idlis, 1 -2 plain dosas with nil oil, and half apple or 1 orange etc. Dinner should be similar to lunch. Avoid sweets, pastries, deep fried foods, drink dilute butter milk. A glass of skimmed milk can be had at bed time.

If it is a very recent one do try Homeopathy first. Homeopathy is a very good friend of diabetics, because it may not only reduce the sugar count in many cases, but it can cure diabetes also, provided the patient follows dietary precautions and physical movements. If it cannot cure, it can drastically help in improving the quality of life in terms of preventing or delaying the diabetic effects on kidneys, eyes etc. I observe great effects using homeopathy in diabetics. It can treat wonderfully the very common symptoms of diabetics like pain in the legs, sleeplessness, lethargy, depression, fatigue, indifference etc. You must move, go for a walk, at least half an hour and have dietary precautions. You must have physical movements, that helps to keep sugar under control and minimize all carbohydrates from the diet for ex rice. You can use the following tips: One teaspoon of methi seeds soaked overnight in 100 ml of water is good for diabetes, Drink tomato juice with salt and pepper every morning on an empty stomach. For details you can contact me for further guidance.

Dear sir I have a thyroid problem my weight is increased 1kg every month even I take english medicine eltroxin 100mg everyday morning in empty stomach. Please give ayurvedic or home medicine to completely recover thyroid problem and stop the regular intake of medicine.

Mr. Lybrate-user, the only treatment for hypothyroidism is taking thyroxine tablets in adequate dose, so that tsh level is maintained around 3 to 4 milli units/ml. If tsh is higher then weight increase will continue and all the efforts to reduce weight will not be useful. So please check if your tsh is at that level then efforts to control weight will be fruitful.
