I brush my teeth few times a day and I can still feel that the smell coming from the throat. If I clear my throat by gargling salt water, I feel little bit fresh but the problem comes back. Is there any permanent remedy? Please help. Thanks.

Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth twice daily, clean tongue thoroughly 3. Rinse your mouth with hexidine/betadine mouth wash 2-3 times daily 4. Avoid smoking/chewing tobacco if any 5. 7 Ways Tobacco Affects Your Dental Health!

7 Ways Tobacco Affects Your Dental Health!

Tobacco has many ill effects on the health of an individual. Dental health is equally affected with use of tobacco. From dark stains to poor gum health to increased incidence of decay to the more severe effects like oral cancer, tobacco has a very detrimental effect on your dental health. Read on know more about how harmful tobacco can be on the dental system.

  1. Brown teeth and tongue: One of the tell-tale signs of a smoker are the brown teeth and stained tongue and lips. A dentist need not even be told that the person smokes, it just shows!! What is interesting is that these stains on the teeth do not easily go away with a scaling (Cleaning of teeth), they just continue to form as long as tobacco is being put into the system.
  2. Gum disease: The oral health of a smoker is definitely not at its best. With the stains on the teeth, the gums are more prone for irritation and infection. This leads to grayish, unhealthy gums. The periodontal fibers are also affected, leading to bad breath, pocket formation and even tooth mobility in severe cases. The mouth is generally drier in comparison and so bacterial growth is more favored, further accelerating the process of gum disease and teeth decay.
  3. Dental caries: The increased amount of bacteria and dryness in the mouth leads to greater incidence of dental decay. Chances of cervical decay (decay around the gum line) and root decay are higher in smokers.
  4. Bad breath: Use of tobacco in itself cause bad breath which is exacerbated by dry mouth caused by useof tobacco.
  5. Impaired taste: The tongue has a constant coating too, leaving the taste buds unable to completely taste food substances. Ask any smoker a couple of questions and you would realize how they never get to enjoy and taste the food as it should be.
  6. Poor healing: Whether it is a gum disease, a tooth removal or a root canal therapy, smokers who go for dental treatment need a longer time to respond compared to nonsmokers. If smoking is continued at the same pace, then the chances of developing a dry socket with an extraction or a failed root canal therapy are quite high. There are more failures reported in success of implant in smokers as compared to non smokers.
  7. Cancer: The most dangerous and the most severe of all, cancer of the cheek, gums, lips, tongue, roof of the mouth can all happen in smokers, twice more likely in comparison with non-smokers.

Now, if all these are not good enough to kick the habit, remember this list is only for the mouth and the teeth. The whole body goes through a lot more harmful effects, and that should be a good reason to quit tobacco use in any form. If you need professional help, do not be embarrassed to seek.

Do whitening toothpastes whiten teeth more than regular toothpastes? Or what can I do for my teeth?
Whitening toothpastes helps temporarily, to get stains removed from teeth take lemon juice in a spoon, dip brush or you can apply with fingertip also, apply over the stained teeth, keep for a minute and the rinse with water. It removes stain and as it contains citric acid/vit c which keeps teeth strong. This procedure should be done twice a week not more.

I'm eating gutkha daily so my teeth is full red how it will be full shinning give me tips.
Avoid gutkha or any tobacco products. As this may induce Mouth Cancers. The incidence of Mouth Cancers is nearly 40% in India because of improper Oral Hygiene and due to obnoxious habits conducive to Cancer. Next about your stains the superficial stains may be removed by Scaling and deeper stains will not go they will need laminates and tooth colour filling depending on the condition.

When dentist pullout teeth on lower jaw left side then after I have headache on left side. Please advise me.
Was your wisdom tooth removed? if so, then pain could radiate to the temporal area and give you headache. Your joint could have been pulled or the muscles stretched. This can also give you a headache. Whatever be the reason, it should become less over a period of time. If not, please go and consult a dentist to find out the cause and get treated properly.

How to free from sudden tooth pains? It pains when drinking water and sleeping and there is a gap between teeth.

How to free from sudden tooth pains?
It pains when drinking water and sleeping
and there is a gap between teeth.
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

I release a bad smell from the mouth how will I stop that bad smell from my mouth. please suggest?
Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Dear Sir/Mame-I'm suffering from bad breathe from 10 to 15 years. But my teeth is clean & so much white. I'm brushing twice a day. I feel dry mouth problem. I don't have any bad habits like smoking, drinking & many more. But only some time I'm eating happy dent chewing gum. I'm 23 years old & I'm 2nd year student, this problem is not good for me. And I'm always taking care of my teeth. Pls suggest me 1 best mouth wash. And please plz help me. I'm waiting. Thank You.

Dentist, Gurgaon
as you said you have dry mouth problem, bad breath problem you have is dude to this only. dry mouth causes bacteria to act fast over small food particles settled over teeth and tongue. drink lots of water. also visit a dentist for professional cleaning of your teeth and follow this every 6 months to one year. also only brushing can't solve the purpose, flossing and tongue cleaning are equally important.
