Please consult an endocrinologist for proper assessment of your other organs like heart, kidneys, lipid levels and have a proper treatment for diabetes, as diabetes is silent killer. It damages many vital organs silently and by the time you experience the symptoms of those organs there will be irreversible changes in that organ. Healthy bones are like banks, the more deposits you make, and the more withdrawals you can count on. Diet plays a major role in ensuring healthy bones. In particular, Calcium and Vitamin D need to be taken in the right amounts through life to build bone and slow down bone loss. Eating a healthy balanced diet, containing adequate calories, can help to improve your overall bone health not to mention your overall health.

The easiest way to obtain this is through the regular consumption of milk, cheese, and yogurt i.e. 3 servings each day from the milk group of foods. Teenagers and pregnant women need five servings each day.

A serving is equal to:

A glass of milk
An ounce {matchbox size} of cheese

A carton of yogurt

Tips to boost calcium intake
Dairy products are extremely versatile and can be included in the diet in many ways. Cooking does not destroy calcium, so it could not be easier to get your recommended number of servings each day. Serving suggestions include

A bowl of breakfast cereal with milk
Cheese on crackers or toasted cheese sandwich
Fruit salad with yogurt
A slice of pizza or lasagne
A fruit smoothie or milkshake
A frothy cappuccino or mug of hot chocolate
Baked potato with grated cheese

I don't like milk! What can I do?
If you do not like milk try the following to boost Calcium intake

Pancakes
Skimmed milk powder added to soups/smoothies/sauces
Porridge made with milk

Mr. Lybrate-user, I am a bit surprised to see such high sugar levels in spite of regular treatment. I would be glad to be of help, but would like to know following details: 1) current fasting and pp sugar levels and hba1c%, 2) dietary pattern giving details of day's intake, 3) extent of daily exercise - brisk walking etc, 4) present drugs with dosage and any complaints in addition to these. It will be better if you come in a private conversation, where I will be able to give specific advise. I await your information.

Dear Lybrateuser, -Do avoid any arguments with family & friends as it is the main cause of your problem -do regular exercise like walking /brisk walking for 20-30 min in morning, do yoga, meditation & deep breathing exercise for 10-15 min in the morning to calm & relax your mind & to keep the body fit -do not take a nap for more than 30 min in the day -keep yourself occupied in the day by reading, listening to music, following a hobby, socializing with friends & speaking with family -also reduce intake of alcohol to 60 ml as the amount you consume is more, as you reduce the consumption you will start getting sound sleep -also take a balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables, have 6-7 glasses of water for sufficient hydration -take medication on time regularly.

Follow these best tips to get relief from stomach pain - *take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. *take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. Boil it in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes. Drink 5-10 teaspoons (15-20 ml) in morning and evening. * take 1 tea spoon of liv-52 syrup daily one time. * walk for atleast 15-20 minutes daily and avoid long duration continuos sitting. * avoid taking nonveg at night & in day time after taking food, do not sleep in day.
