My daughter is 4 yrs. Sometimes while walking or even just sitting. Her head falls like a jerk for a second. Wht to do?

This could be normal. But there is also the possibility that this is some type of minor nervous or seizure disorder. You surely need to take her to the doctor and get her examined. If you could capture what you are saying on your phone in the video mode and take it with you when you meet the doctor, it will be easy for him to know what is happening and he could easily come to a diagnosis. Don't ignore this. May be nothing but should be checked out.

I think your hubby can manage himself by your helping advice. Operation 2 months ago must not be hurdle now to look after baby n yourself. Feed your baby exclusive breast milk on her demand which you shall learn shortly on watching baby's cry gesture. I suppose gas problem shall be resolved. Minor gas discomfort is no problem.

All children of this age group have such complaints I mean to say parents of such children. Children are very moody, do not force them to eat. As long as they are active need not worry, just keep calm.

Crying before passing urine and stools is normal in small babies. Gas problem can be taken care of by proper burping.

It is not compulsory and is optional and protects from certain types of pneumococcus bacteria There are currently two types of pneumococcal vaccines: pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) and pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPSV23). There are more than 90 types of pneumococcal bacteria. PCV13 protects against 13 types and PPSV23 protects against 23 types. Both vaccines provide protection against illnesses like meningitis (infection of the covering of the brain and spinal cord) and bacteremia (blood infection). PCV13 also provides protection against pneumonia (lung infection).

Children never starve themselves unlike adults, she may be eating lot of junk foods- biscuits and juices and chips etc that she is not eating what you want her to eat. Cut down on all the junk/ intermittent snacks and see that she eats when its family time to eat.

Colic Pain - How to Treat It

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Delhi
Colic Pain - How to Treat It

When you have a newborn bundle of joy, no parent would be ready for constant crying bouts from the infant. However, for various reasons, even healthy, well-fed infants can be colicky.

What is it: Although a mystery, a baby is said to be colicky if it cries for more than 3 hours a day for more than 3 days a week for more than 3 weeks at a stretch. The baby is completely healthy, and the symptoms start about 2 to 3 weeks of life in both breast-fed and bottle-fed babies. The baby usually has a red face from crying and could be pulling its legs towards its chest due to the abdominal discomfort.

Causes: Though still not exactly established, some things that are believed to cause colic include:

  1. The baby's digestive system that is growing and goes through spasms
  2. Extreme sensitivity to noise and light in the surrounding environment
  3. Accumulation of gas in the belly that is ingested with the milk (breast or bottles)
  4. Hormones that are supposedly affecting the baby's moods

Treatment: As there is no specific cause identified, the treatment is also symptomatic and aims at soothing the baby's pain and discomfort.

  1. Altered feeding: Given that a baby's tummy is very small and is about the size of a fist, it makes sense to feed it small amounts at regular intervals than to give a full feed once in like 4 to 5 hours. The baby is sure to feel full with this and therefore the discomfort. Burping between the feed is also shown to help avoid feeling of fullness. If you are breast feeding, try to not let the baby doze off when feeding.
  2. Anti-colic bottles: These bottles have a vent inside the bottle which will help reduce the accumulation of gas within the bottle. There are various brands available in the market, these could be a good solution if the baby is even partially bottle-fed.
  3. Simethicone: This is an anti-flatulent, which again helps eliminate gas bubbles in the stomach and thereby provides relief to the infant. It can be given either by a dropper or a syringe.
  4. Exercise: Try bending the legs at the knee and holding it towards the baby's stomach, this can help ease the pain.

Remember that this is a very transient thing and usually disappears on its own by the 4th month, and the above measures are only to help the baby and the mother.

Give him exclusive breast milk up to the age of 6 months. No formula milk. At night baby must be taking mother's feed thus satisfied but in day time baby may be in need of mother's hug. Babies are also emotional. Other common reason of cry is uncomfortable conditions.

My daughter 16 months old has been having diarrhea for 1 week. No fever. No vomiting. Active baby.

General Physician,
My daughter 16 months old has been having diarrhea for 1 week. No fever. No vomiting. Active baby.
How many times she passes stools and what is the type of stools are the questions. Still let me tell you 10 to 15 times also sometimes we consider as normal. Most important thing is what is the general condition and how is the babie's mood. Are there any other symptoms e. G. Rash around anusara or continuous cry etc.

Hi, My daughter is 1 month old If breast milk is not possible can we give cow's milk to new born 1 month old baby? If not please suggest.

Hi,
My daughter is 1 month old
If breast milk is not possible can we give cow's milk to new born 1 month old baby?
If...
We cant give cow milk to a 4 month old baby and can tart giving it only when the child is 12 month old. Cow' s baby is much heavier than a human baby. the protein present in it is quite complex which a human baby cannot digest In addition, cow's milk doesn't have the right amounts of iron, vitamin C, and other nutrients for infants. It may even cause iron-deficiency anemia in some babies, since cow's milk protein can irritate the lining of the digestive system, leading to blood in the stools. Finally, cow's milk doesn't provide the healthiest types of fat for growing babies. So my suggestion for you I to use pwdered milk LACTOGEN 1 avaliable in the market for your baby as thi powder contains protein that a 4 month old child can diget easily thu helping in his overall development.

Seems your child is undernourished. Ensure adequate food intake every 2-3 hours. Discorage junk food. Home made simple food is best to all children. May give meals at frequent intervals.

The usual recommendation is to give 2 hourly feed and we ax also recommend demand feed. That is, if the baby does not feed after 2 hours, leave him and feed when he feels hungry instead of sticking a 2 hour time table.

Hello, my child is 3. 5 years. He doesnt eat properly. In fact we have to force feed him every time. He is not a fan any particular food. He weighs only 14kgs. Please suggest me how to increase his appetite since he is not interested in trying out new food. He looks too thin.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Stop force feeding him. Let him enjoy his own choice. We can not contro chldren's behaviour. At 3. 5 years his weight is in normal range. You seem to worry unnecessarily like many of us.
