10 STEPS TO HELP YOU SLEEP BETTER

Not getting a good night’s sleep can create havoc with your physical and mental wellbeing. With today’s fast paced lifestyles and poor sleep habits we are depriving ourselves from the endless benefits that are hidden in a good night’s sleep. Here are simple ways that can dramatically improve your sleep

Try and sleep in complete darkness. Get rid of night lights and any other light that is coming from outside. This helps in secreting your sleep hormone (melatonin)
Maintain your room temperature at 21°C. Keeping your room temperature too cool or hot leads to restless sleep
Move alarm clocks and other electronic devices at least 3 feet away from your bed
Reserve your bed for sleeping. Do not work on your laptops in bed and avoid texting and watching TV in bed
Avoid staying in bed if you cannot get sleep. Go to another room for 15-20 minutes and engage in a relaxing activity like reading from a book (not your phone or laptop) or meditation
Do not keep checking the time continuously in bed as this can make you more anxious and delay your sleep further
Avoid drinking fluids 2 hours before going to bed. This will minimize the frequency of using the washroom and help you get a deep sleep
Include protein rich food in your dinner. Proteins are rich in L-tryptophan that helps in producing serotonin( relaxing hormone) and melatonin(sleep hormone)
Do not have caffeine, alcohol and sugary drinks around bedtime. They release adrenaline and that will make you more wakeful
Exercise regularly for 30 minutes each day( ay time of the day except around bedtime)
Make sure you spend 15-30 minutes in the morning light. This helps in regulating your sleep/wake cycle

For diabetes and blood pressure follow a diet low in carbohydrate,low in salt, low in fat and high in fibre. Avoid bakery products. Avoid too much rice and potato. Avoid fried stuff. Avoid chocolate, cakes, ice cream, soft drinks and fruit juices. Eat lots of vegetables. Walk for at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a week. Medicine and insulin will work better if you follow diet and exercise. Medicine will depend upon what you are taking currently. Get your HbA1c and S Creatinine level also done.

The Problem of Residues: If you condition your hair before shampooing, you can rest assure that no residues are left behind on the scalp. This is not the case when you condition your hair afterwards. Many a time, if you don't rinse properly residues of the conditioner used get left behind, thereby weighing down your hair.

You can't gain weight if you don't have more healthy food inside of you. Eating more healthy food is essential to gaining weight. You cannot achieve your ideal weight by eating little. Here are some tips on how you can eat more food without feeling full: eat slowly some people chew and swallow their way into their plate in just minutes. You need to take it slow since eating faster will only make you feel fuller right away. Eating fast also causes you to overeat. Eat gluten-free food for weight watchers gluten is a kind of protein usually found in some grains, cereals and wheat. In food production, gluten is added to keep the elasticity of food, making bread more chewable. The presence of gluten also keeps other types of food from having a doughy texture. If you choose to be on a gluten-free diet, you will be actually keeping unhealthy food away from your body. Being on a gluten-free diet means steering clear of sugary sweet desserts and fried food. Processed food also contains gluten including artificial flavoring. Eliminating processed food from your diet will let you focus more on protein-rich food to help you gain weight. A gluten-free diet means eating more fruits and vegetables. These are non-starchy foods so eating them will take you a longer time to get full. Gluten-free grains are usually low in fiber. Hello! not a single food can help to reduce weight. Yes green tea is a metabolic booster antioxidant rich food. But one need to take it with a balance diet, only then it will work. Take small n frequent healthy meal. Stay away from preserved food, ready to eat foods, deep fried food, sugar n sweet items n do exercise for at least 30 min a day.
