The gastric complaints you are describing appear to be a part of Irritable bowel syndrome which is more of a anxiety related psychiatric condition with gastrointestinal symptoms. You need to consult a psychiatrist with regular follow up and proper medication compliance. Medications such as SSRIs are usually beneficial in these cases. Alongwith you also need to maintain a good lifestyle consisting of adequate physical activity, abstinence from alcohol or smoking etc and a balanced high fibre diet.

Acidity,Gas formation

Most common complaint with patients is acidity and gas formation which make them uncomfortable. It is mainly due to lifestyle changes which we have nowadays. Fast food, fatty food alcohol, tea/coffee in excess and stress of modern life.

This problem can be solved by changing the food habits and yoga, meditation as well. Medicines are also of help but don't make habit of them.

Thirty minutes morning walk, avoid smoking and alcohol, good sleep, avoid stress, 2 hours gap after dinner to bed. Will help you a lot.

Please suggest me some easily digestive food and Do's/ Dont's. My father is affected by severe ulcer problem. He is 55 year old man.

Hi, Thanks for your question on Lybrate I do understand your concern “As” per your clinical history is concerned first rule out dyspepsia and to confirm the cause responsible for it you need one endoscopy and test your stool. Regarding medication you can take [pantoprazole-20 mg] once a day. Do take few preventive steps like this-: 1) Eat small meals and chew thoroughly 2) Avoid fatty foods, spicy foods, processed foods, carbonated beverages, caffeine etc 3) Try to maintain a healthy weight 4) Practice yoga and meditation to manage stress 5) Do not take any painkillers Hope that helps, Please do tests as suggested and follow me to add further.

Hello, there many ways you can improve your digestion. Digestion is weak generally because of weak liver. If you drink a glass of water half an hour before you eat, you metabolism get a boost. Another thing you can do is to eat at regular intervals of 3 to 4 hours. To gain weight, the basic rule is to consume more calories than you spend. You can consult to know more about personalized weight gain diet chart.

I have diagnosed with 18mm stone in gall bladder. How early should I go for operation.

DM - Gastroenterology

Stone > 1cm, medical management wont help. Surgery is definetely indicated if you have pain. Observation vs surgery is a grey zone in the management of asymptomatic gallstone. I suggest you meet a Gastroenterologist for discussion.
