Supporters of cupping therapy believe the suction of the cups mobilizes blood flow to promote the healing of a broad range of medical ailments.

Cupping therapy dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians were using cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C.

In general, Western medical societies are skeptical of the health claims made by cupping therapy supporters. "Available scientific evidence does not support cupping as a cure for cancer or any other disease" states the American Cancer Society. "Reports of successful treatment with cupping are mainly anecdotal rather than from research studies"

But a 2012 study published in the journal PLoS ONE suggests that cupping therapy may have more than a placebo effect. Australian and Chinese researchers reviewed 135 studies on cupping therapy published between 1992 and 2010. They concluded that cupping therapy may be effective when combined with other treatments like acupuncture or medications in treating various diseases and conditions, such as:

Herpes zoster
Acne
Facial paralysis
Cervical spondylosis

But the researchers acknowledge that many of the studies in their review may have contained some bias. They say better studies are needed to draw a definite conclusion.

Hi. This is the case of my cousin brother. His age is 30. He fell in love with a girl, one year elder than him approx. 3 years back, who was already in a relationship with another boy since past 6-7 years. She and her parents asked the boy to marry her several times. But the boy did not marry her giving some or other excuse. He kept taking advantage of the girl physically for his own needs, played with her innocence and feelings. At times when the girl opposed he used to show that he is very upset and hurt coz of her denial. This girl could not sent and used to allow him for sex even without her consent. This obviously was hurting her self respect. But after meeting my brother, they both found each other very compatible and started understanding each other well. Within some time, this girl became everything to my brother. She had almost same feelings for him. After meeting him, she realized her mistakes done in past and started focusing on her own self respect and her own aims in life. But after almost an year when my brother approached his parents for marrying this girl, they refused due to the background of the boy with whom the girl was in a serious relationship before. My brother had to get married to a girl of his parent's choice. But cd not forget the love for this girl. Unfortunately his wife ditched him within almost a month of his marriage and filed false cases against him of dowry harassment etc. My bro took a tough stand and started fighting against the false allegations against him. Since last two years he is fighting various litigations and preparing for any future false litigations. But during these two years, he is in regular touch with the girl with whom he was in love since almost three years. He used to share each and everything of his life with this girl. But cd not express his true feelings in that old way, coz somewhere or other in his heart he kept feeling guilty of not marrying her. 2ndly he is caught into various law suites. During this period this girl once again relied upon the guy with whom she was in the relation before. She made her mind to marry with that guy and now has married to him. My brother and the girl are in regular touch but as friends now. My brother still loves her, but not for any physical satisfaction. Lust was never a part of his feelings for her. He does have pure feelings for her and respect her as a woman. He cares for her. The girl also knows this and has respect for his feelings. Now when my brother has fought the legal cases strongly and is relaxed somewhat, he has started paying full attention to this girl like before. But she at various occasions have started ignoring and neglecting him. However, she keeps sharing almost every up and downs of her life with him. My brother does not have any intentions to break the girl's marriage nor he is expecting any physical favour. He just wants her presence and her time. Coz even today both understand each other well. My brother still can't remain without sharing things with her and almost the same is the case with her. please suggest whether to keep true feelings for her is wrong? What is the suggestion for the girl who still trust him like before but her behaviour somewhere is hurting my brother continuously? Is there any problem in sharing things with each other by these two coz of the trust and faith that they have on each other?

I have read your issue carefully and it is clear that unless both cannot come to a good understanding ther is no point in getting married and a premarital counselling will help solve the dilemma .If they cannot get together, they have to break up.

Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation .take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Avoid fermented food. Junk food.

Back pain can result from bad posture, a sudden jerky movement, a lumpy mattress or poor lifting techniques. It can also be caused by injury in a work place, by a sports accident or by muscular spasms. There are also many diseases and pathological conditions that can lead to back pain. These include abdominal or pelvic disease, anxiety, arthritis, cervical or lumbar spondylosis, dermatological problems, kidney disease, rheumatic conditions, tumours and scoliosis. Our modern, sedentary lifestyles have a profound effect on the development of back pain; indeed one of the most effective ways of preventing it is simply to stay active. An average adult in the India spends at least two hours a day in front of a computer screen or television set, and back problems can be triggered if they don’t sit properly. In an age of mobile phones and computer games, such troubles are increasingly inflicting children of school age as well. Top tips for back care: For back pain, better to see your Doctor sooner than later. Take regular exercise – your Doctor can say what’s right for you. Hours in one position can cause problems – avoid computer ‘hump’. During repetitive tasks, vary your rhythm and take frequent breaks. Adjust car seats and on long journeys, take regular breaks to stretch. Pace yourself with heavy work such as gardening – don’t risk a disc! Watch children’s posture – they shouldn’t carry bags on one shoulder or spend too long at a computer without breaks. Avoid strain when lifting, particularly small children and shopping. Your bed could be part of the problem. Seek Doctor advice on choosing a new one. Take a hot bath or shower, soaking in a hot tub, or using a heating pad, hot water bottle, or heat wrap that provides continuous, low-level heat are all ways to bring healing warmth to your lower back.

Muscle strain or muscle pull is a condition, which is characterized by damage to the muscles or its adjoining tendons. Undue pressure can be exerted on the muscle when you are carrying out routine activities such as sudden lifting of heavy things or playing contact sports. The damage to the muscle is usually in the form of partial or complete tearing of the tendons and fibres attached to the muscles. The small blood vessels in the muscles can also be damaged by the tearing of the muscles, leading to local bleeding and bruising.

The symptoms of muscle pain are:

  1. You will experience pain even while resting
  2. There will be bruising, swelling and redness around the affected area
  3. You will experience weakness of the muscles and tendons
  4. The movement and mobility of the muscle will be impaired
  5. You will experience pain when you use the affected muscles

The causes of a muscle strain are:

  1. Playing contact sports can lead to injuries
  2. Lifting heavy things
  3. Exercising without a proper warm up routine
  4. Lifting extremely heavy weights during exercise without proper acclimatization
  5. Sleeping on one side only for a long period of time
  6. Not stretching properly
  7. Falling from a height

The treatments for muscle strains are:

  1. Pain medications: You can opt for pain relieving medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications to help combat the associated pain of a muscle strain.
  2. Rice: Rice stands for rest, ice, compression and elevation. This treatment is usually the first step after suffering a strain, before opting for medications. This treatment prevents further aggravation of the problem.
  3. Compress: You can alternate between hot and cold compress to reduce the swelling and pain.
  4. Stretches: Once the affected area has healed, it is important for you stretch the muscles to improve their mobility and strength. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Physiotherapist.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.
