I got a dental bridge done on molars over an year ago. After a month or so, I am experiencing severe stench from outer side of the bridge. I went back to the same clinic and complained, but I was told that as there is no pain nor swelling, it's all ok! I had been very sensitive to foul smelling of others' mouth. Now, I am with it perpetually! what should I do to get back my oral confidence?

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedures. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Taking a large no. Of medications often leads to a dry mouth. Increase your fluid intake or ask your dentist about an artifical saliva product or chew sugarless gum after a meal to keep your mouth moist.

MDS - Periodontics, Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Chandigarh
Flossing on a daily basis prevents plaque-build up which can further lead to tooth decay and gum disease.

Sir I have teeth problem. My teeth have black inside face. I clean it some days before but again have same problem start.

BDS
Dentist, Navi Mumbai
Hello Mr. Lybrate-user, blackening of teeth is because of deposition of plaque. You need to brush properly on all surfaces of teeth twice a day and start using a mouthwash once a day for a month. It will be good if you get scaling done once.

Dental Tip for Babies

A baby's first tooth erupts at the age of 6 months. For proper dental growth of a baby, the first visit to the dentist should be at the age of 2 years.

The best treatment for you to get a whiter teeth and become disease free is to go for laminates. It is the best treatment for dental fluorosis. But if you have a budget, you can go for crown on your teeth. It will make your teeth stronger and aesthetically beautiful.

I am 27 year male. My teeths are having plaque/scales from back side. I have heard that teeth cleaning makes teeth weaker from their roots. Is it so? is teeth cleaning suggested?

BDS
Dentist, Sangli
Deposits like hard calculus has to removed by scaling. No teeth do not get weaker by scaling but due to poor oral hygiene.

How to bring maxilla forward. Can it be done without surgery. I am not sure if I have a forward maxilla or not. How can I know it. And I am 21 years old.

MSD - Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge
Dentist, Chandigarh
Maxilla is a part of the skull bones. Alone, this bone cannot move forwards or backwards unless fractured like during intentional surgery. If you feel any problem with the appearance of your maxilla, you can consult a dentist, preferably an orthodontist who will advise you a series of xrays: like lateralcephalogram and then can comment on the status of the bone.

I am having sensitivity problem to tooth. It's painful even if I have cold or hot water.

Advanced Aesthetics, BDS

Hi, teeth have a protective layer called enamel with age the enamel wears off and become thin which causes to become teeth sensitive to cold and hot. You need to get a professional check up done to know the exact cause and solution of your problem.

Hi I am getting mouth odour I could sense even in the morning time and night time. I do oil pulling but it does not help. Please let me know what is the reason. It is smelling like a dead rat in the mouth.

MDS - Periodontics, BDS
Dentist, Kolkata
Please consult a dentist at the earliest for a thorough diagnosis of your problem. You may need strict oral hygiene maintenance and care. You may also have to undergo scaling. Use a mouthwash too as advised by dentist. Concentrate on tongue cleaning too after brushing your teeth. Make sure you don't have stomach or liver disorders.

- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks.

General Physician,
Patients with an identifiable cause of bad breath e.g., periodontal (gum) disease, gingivitis, postnasal drip, systemic illness can be treated for these conditions.
Many cases of bad breath may be readily alleviated by:
Proper dental care and oral hygiene, including daily flossing.
Gentle cleaning of the posterior portion of the dorsum of tongue (e.g., with a plastic tongue cleaner).
Rinsing and deep gargling with an effective mouthwash (in order to get the liquid as far back as possible without swallowing it, one can extend the tongue while gargling). This is most effective when done at bedtime.
Eating fibrous foods (a healthy breakfast is recommended).
Chewing gum briefly (5 minutes is often sufficient) if the mouth is dry, or after meals, especially with high protein intake. Sugar-free gum is preferable.
Sufficient water intake.
Decreasing alcohol and coffee intake.

Kindly get scaling done and if you want you can also get bleaching done. Brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene. Those black dots can be caries which you need to get removed and filled.

I have problems my teeth and bloods come to after cleans my teeth. how to resolve the problems my problems give me solution I feel little pain also.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Dear bleeding gums, most commonly result from gum inflammation (swelling) due to tartar / plaque deposition on teeth. Brush twice a day, rinse vigorously after every meal and get a professional cleaning of your teeth done. That should resolve your problem.

Hi, Dr. Sir, My age is 49 year , From 3days I am feeling pain backech from lower spinal joint. I can not stand properly. It will take 5 minutes time to stand properly and walk. from 15 days back I was suffering pain of premolar teeth and taken many antibiotics and pain killer finally teeth was removed. Is it side effect of those medition because I have not feel any problem in life. THANKS

Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Jaipur
frankly back and tooth pain are irrelevant but only possibility could be that as u have pain in joints and that indicates chronic bone loss so if it the case then sorrunding bone all over tooth also become less hence cause gum infection followed by pain and tooth removal. .

I do smoking and my teeth are a bit yellowish in colour. Once I did cleaning also but it was not so effective. Kindly suggest me a way to make my teeth white and strong as now I have quit smoking.

MD - Alternate Medicine, BHMS
Homeopath, Surat
Start using Colgate total as it is good for health of teeth. If you wish to quit smoking, you can definitely do it with Homeopathic treatment (but on one condition - that you yourself should be strong enough to quit it). And by that time, you get you teeth cleaned up regularly by dentist for its healthiness. Still if you have any queries, you are welcomed to ask. :) Take care. :)
