Dear,People who are underweight and do not have fat deposits on their body may not be getting enough calories to fuel their body. This could have a direct impact on all of their organs and may eventually lead to a variety of health problems. There are ways to get into the shape we desire and to gain weight fast. This would require understanding the reason for low weight and maintaining a diet for weight gain. In weight loss, the simple formula is to burn more calories than you consume, but to gain weight you have to also find out if there is something in your body that is preventing you from getting to the weight that you desire.

Is it wise to take it, because we need a good diet during exercise. It would be great if someone advise me good supplement for proteins. However I don't want to invest a lot of money in protein powders.

Hello! only a qualified expert can help to solve any of our problem without any complication. And medication or pills or supplement for weight gain is not at all a good solution for any one. One might lose or gain weight for that particular period but once you stop supplement many complication can take place. So I must advice go for small n frequent healthy meals with some activity. You can take good quality protein in your diet. Like- milk n products, egg, chicken, dal & products. N visit a dietitian. It will help. The 1st thing you need to take care of is good quality protein, complex carbohydrate n good quality fat. N what you are taking before n after work out is also matter. Aim for around 40-50g carbs and 20-30g protein. This stabilises your hormonal system to enable tissue regeneration and keeps blood sugar stable.

May I know the tips to reduce my over weight. Am 28 now height 5.3 and weight 70.
Hello, It's good to reduce weight at right time as many problems are directly related to overweight! Read the following guidelines and implement them in your routine: Management: 1: Drink plenty of water (at least 2-3 l/d) or other calorie-free beverages. 2: Be choosy about nighttime snacks. 3: Enjoy your favorite foods. 4: Have 6 meals per day - 3 main courses and 3 snack meals (snack meals should be healthy). 5: Do regular exercises daily (start with light and later may be little vigorous) . Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. Preferably brisk walking, swimming, cycling, skipping. 6: Eat seasonal fruits. Fruit helps to satisfy your sweet tooth thanks to its natural sugars, while fresh vegetables help you fill up more quickly. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. 7: Eat more whole grains and cut simple carbs. Whole wheat bread, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, and brown rice are all excellent sources of energy and sources of nutrition. 8: Choose lean proteins instead of fatty ones. 9: Cut the salt from your diet. Eating more sodium causes your body to retain water, which can cause you to feel bloated and gain more weight. 10: Don't skip meals. When you skip meals, your body stops breaking down fat and starts breaking down muscle tissue. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than other tissues, so you're actually working against your goals 11: Eat at home. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 12: Give yourself a treat now and then. If you're attending a party or going out for a special occasion, allow yourself an indulgence. Just make sure that these indulgences don't become daily habits. 13: Go for a health walk. Gear up yourself daily for a health walk which not only shed off your extra calorie, but also reduces the stress levels. Medication: Start taking Schwabe's Phytolacca Berry tablets/ thrice daily 1/2 an hr before the meals for 1 month. Thereafter revert me back for further guidance. All the best!

Dear lybrate-user Take adequate rest, food to energise and cool the body. Stay calm, it could be pre-mensural cramps. Maybe you have injured yourself or done some heavy weight lifting work that is making these days difficult. Take a pregnancy test if your periods do not come for another full one month. Till then, take care. Regards.

Dear Kannan, Thank you very much for taking interest in knowing what your relative is going through. This is a serious mental illness with frequent relapses. So it needs long term treatment to keep the illness under control. For some persons it is life long. ECT is a temporary treatment to prevent suicidal thoughts and disturbing hallucinations (not illusions). If it is effective it needs to be adminstered at regular intervals as maintenance ECT. Of usually maintenance is done by Clozapine. The choice is yours. Clozapine increases the person's hunger and induces sleep as side effect. Thereby he gains weight. Probably your doctor recognised this weight gain and introduced Ziprasidone and Aripiprazole in his treatment. Both are weight neutral drugs. Slowly he/she may reduce and stop Clozapine. But it depends on the benefit that Clozapine gave. If it is good, then ask your relative to diet and exercise to control weight. May be his family members want him just to take rest and don't recommend exercise. They may be feeding him too much fearing his anger. It is good that in certain combination of drugs, he is OK.
