My legs are paining to much from Last two weeks please help me to get rid of it please.

COMT, MPTh/MPT
Physiotherapist, Surat
My legs are paining to much from Last two weeks please help me to get rid of it please.
Nowadays leg pain is a very common complaint in young adults because of there daytoday activities. It can be due to various reasons any injury, muscle strain eg-sudden twist, overuse of muscle or due to deficiency of vit b12, calcium or uric acid. Many of the problem occurs for which we are not aware. After looking at your pain I would recommend you to go for investigations like vit d, b12 etc which is very common problem these days. In the meantime please take care of following things along with some home treatment to give you relief from your pain. Precautions: 1. Avoid prolong standing. 2. Avoid standing in the one position for a long time. 3. Get enough vit d from sun as vit d keep bones strong including spine, 4. Drink plenty of water to enhance your muscle strengthen. 5. While sleeping try to elevate your leg inorder to maintain blood circulation. 6. When sitting on chair in office or work place try to use small stool under your leg to avoid leg hanging as gravity applies direct pressure due to which it creates a tension in muscles and your legs start paining. Physio care: I would recommend you for some home treatment which will give you some percent of pain relief. Take rest- it doesn't mean a complete bed rest. Do not over exert your body. Work take rest and then work so that you do not feel tired and started paining. Treatment- 1. Make use of hot packs and ice packs alternately. Apply with the ratio of 3: 2 which means 3 min ice then 2 min heat. Ice has very good results in relieving pain than heat so combination of both gives you complete relax. As ice reduces pain and heat stimulates blood flow around the affected area. Entire session should be for 15-20 minutes twice a day. 2. Once done with the combination therapy ask someone to massage your painful area using fingers or thumb. Massage using kneading technique. Slightly press the thumb and start rotating as it helps to induce relaxation, relieve pain, and reduce levels of stress chemicals, such as cortisol and noradrenaline. It will give you pain relief for time being. 3. After massage apply any pain relieving ointment eg - volini or oraflame gel etc. Make sure not to do massage with the gel, it should not penetrate the body. Just a topical application of gel should be done. 4. Now start some stretching and strengthening exercises like hamstring sets, quadriceps sets, knee bending, calf stretching, heel toe raising, ankle dorsiflexion/plantarflexion stretch. Start with these exercises and then progress. While performing exercises if severe pain occurs then would recommend you to stop doing exercise. Massage or slightly rub the painful area and consult your near by physio to diagnose the actual cause of the pain as he/she can guide you proper exercise plan which will be beneficial for you after checking grade of your leg pain. Get well soon.

Hand Pain - 5 Reasons Behind It!

MBBS, DNB - Orthopedics, Fellowship in Upperlimb and Limb Reconstruction (Australia)
Orthopedist, Bangalore
Hand Pain - 5 Reasons Behind It!

There are 27 bones in the human hand. An injury to any one of them or a disease that affects the bones, tendons, muscles or blood vessels in the hand, are the most likely causes for pain in the hand and tenderness.

Some of the most common conditions that cause hand pain are:

  1. De Quervain's Tendinitis: Pain on and around the thumb is the characteristic sign of this condition. This pain may develop gradually or come on suddenly and can travel the length of the thumb and forearm. De Quervain's tendinitis is caused by the swelling of wrist tendons at the base of the thumb. Repetitive actions and overuse are the most common triggers for this condition.

  2. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: The symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are felt mainly in the thumb, index finger and middle finger. This pain is often worse at night and is caused by the swelling of inflamed tendons at the base of the hand that puts pressure on the median nerve. This syndrome can make it very difficult for a person to grip objects.

  3. Fractures: The fracture can cause extreme pain along with stiffness, swelling and loss of movement. A fracture refers to the breaking of a bone and can be of many types including simple fractures, complex fractures, comminuted fractures and compound fractures. The type of fracture dictates the type of treatment required. Spraining a muscle in the hand is another leading cause of pain in the hands.

  4. Arthritis: This is one of the most common causes of pain in the hand that is related to ageing. Arthritis causes loss of cartilage that makes the movement of one bone against the other extremely painful. It may or may not also be accompanied by swelling. When it comes to the hand, arthritis affects the base of the thumb and middle or top joints of the fingers. Osteoarthritis may also cause bony nodules to be formed on the fingers.

  5. Trigger Finger: This condition is also known as stenosing tenosynovitis. This condition locks the fingers or thumb in a bent position. This condition is triggered by the flexor tendons getting irritated. These tendons control the movements of the thumb and fingers. As the tendon is inflamed, the sheath that surrounds the tendons may also thicken and nodules may form of the affected tendons. People suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, gout and diabetes are at a high risk of suffering from this condition. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an orthopedist.

I have back pain from last 3 days. Even can't sleep due to this problem please suggest me what to do.

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT

I have back pain from last 3 days. Even can't sleep due to this problem please suggest me what to do.
Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -while sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -find a mattress with back support. A good mattress should provide support for the natural curves and alignment of the spine. Medium-firm mattresses usually provide more back pain relief than firm mattresses. -do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back -avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -stretching and strengthening exercises are important. -a physiotherapist can tell you when to begin stretching and strengthening exercises and how to do them. Best wishes.

When I wake up early In the morning my feet pain very much. Please can you help me out.
This is because of plantar fascitis. Sometimes may also be because of overweight. You seem to be overweight. But that causes pain on prolonged standing. Do exercises for stretching tendo achilles, ankle and toe and calf stretching. This works wonders.

Do regular yoga and exercise to strngthen your back muscles. Always maintain your posture. Sit erect. Do not sit for longer duuration at one place. Walking for 5 minutes, stretching a little every hour or two will help you a great deal. Avoid heavy weight lifting. You can also take calcium supplements for 3 months. Use ortho friendly mattress to sleep. Youe uncomfortable mattress may be causing pain to you so check that first.

Non-Surgical Treatment For Slipped Disc

Non-Surgical Treatment For Slipped Disc

Spinal decompression therapy is a technology used to treat disc injuries in the neck and low back.

It 'decompresses' the spinal structures. The vacuum effect thus created by the separation of vertebrae from each other is also known as 'negative intra discal pressure' which helps in reducing compression on the nerves.

The cycles of decompression and partial relaxation over a series of visits promote the diffusion of water, oxygen and nutrient-rich fluids from outside the disc to inside. These nutrients enable the torn and degenerated disc fibres to begin healing.

The exact level at which decompression is required can be targeted.

Hi The value is high, it means there has been injury or stress to muscle tissue, the heart, or the brain. Muscle injury is most likely. When a muscle is damaged CPK leaks into the blood stream. Finding which specific form of CPK is high helps determine which tissue has been damaged. I would like to suggest you to consult an homoeopthy doctor. Proper dietary management is a .must for your son with lot of vegetables and fibrous food and foods rich in vitamin A, vit C.
