Hello- Yes Granular Pharyngitis is a contagious infection. Infection can be passed on by touch or by using personal items of the infected person. Even a sneeze or a cough by an infected person can pass on this infection. So it is not advised to do kissing or oral sex until it recovers completely.

Using condom and having sex will lead to any problem? My wife is getting feared of using condom and having sex.

General Physician, Trivandrum
Using a condom for contraception is the safest way to prevent pregnancy. But condoms should be used according to the instructions or there is a chance of contraceptive failure. There is also a chance of condom breakage where you will need to use emergency contraceptive pill if it happens.

There is absolutely no harmful effect. There are only myths about it. One can do it whenever he/ she wants. But remember, anything in excess is not useful. If you are addicted to it, it can divert your attention and may cause loss of concentration in studies, works and family life.

I am a regular smoker now I am feeling breathing problem while climb stairs or run for while. How to increase lungs capacity? and suggest me to quit smoking asap.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Smoking directly attacks the respiratory apparatus. You can ill-afford to continue smoking unless you want to kill yourself early and in a most miserable way! You must seriously take a call and quit smoking now. Here’s how you can go about it: The habit can be very difficult to halt because of the many conditions attached to smoking. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. Tobacco tar smears the lung surface and causes big patches over time to become dysfunctional. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest. All the damage you incurred earlier because of the smoking can be reverted back to normal in quick time. To improve the lung capacity do aerobic exercise and breathe only through your nostrils. As time goes by you will build stamina. Deep breathing uses the 80% of your lung capacity that normal breathing does not get to use. This type of breathing also massages your lower abdomen and brings good health to those organs too.

Hello doctor, I am 21 years old. I want to know that what are the symptoms of malaria? How can I prevent my family fr...
Malaria is a life-threatening disease transmitted through bite of anopheles mosquito infected with a plasmodium parasite. The parasites travel to the liver, where they mature and infect red blood cells. Symptoms of malaria develop within 1-4 weeks following the infection.like: high fever with shaking chills profuse sweating headache nausea/vomiting diarrhea/bloody stools anemia muscle pain seizures coma Dragging heavy sensation in abdomen(Enlarged spleen). Symptoms may appear in cycles. Episodes of symptoms may occur every 48 hours in infection with P. Vivax or P. Ovale. This cycle of symptoms is also one of the major signs that you are infected with malaria. P. falciparumdoes not usually cause a regular, cyclic fever.Infection with this species is more serious and life threatening.. Treatment drug choice and duration depends on the strain you are infected with..treatment options include chloroquine/primaquine/quinine/artesunate based on your body weight to be taken under strict medical supervision. To prevent mosquito bites, follow these guidelines: Stay inside when it is dark outside, Wear protective clothing (long pants and long-sleeved shirts). Use insect repellents with DEET (N,N diethylmetatoluamide). Use bed nets (mosquito netting) Use flying-insect spray indoors around sleeping areas.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns. As per your complain dark circles can occur due to causes like -Excessive stress. -Malnutrition. -Overuse of mobiles and laptops. -Sleep deprivation. -Allergies etc. I would suggest you to first of all reduce stress by doing meditation and breathing exercises. Take sufficient sleep. Avoid excess use of gadgets. You can start applying creams containing Kojic acid and Vitamin E. Grapeseed extract containing creams are helpful. You can also put pieces of cucumber over the closed eyes as it has soothing effects. You can also place grated potato over the eyes. Take multivitamin supplements. Drink plenty of water and take a nutritious diet. In case of no improvement consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can also advised lazer treatment for removing the dark circles.

The risk of congenital varicella syndrome ranged from 0% to 0.4% when maternal rash occurred before 13 weeks gestation, a syndrome of birth defects in the infant. The most common manifestation of congenital varicella syndrome is scarring of the skin. Other abnormalities that can occur include a smaller than normal head, eye problems, low birth weight, small limbs, and mental retardation. If you have been treated well with acyclovir there is no reason to worry as risk is far low than general population. During a targeted ultrasound, a doctor uses sound waves to take a very close look at the fetus. Between the 18th and 20th weeks of pregnancy, the doctor may be able to see limb defects and brain problems that may have been caused by chicken pox infection.

Dear Doctor,
I'm 15 Years and while running more than 50meters I'm having a pain at my low part of my Abdominal part...
Abdominal cramps are fairly common in new runners. To prevent it make sure you eat light before you start running so that there is plenty of room for breathing. There should be a gap of 2-3 hr between meal and running. Breathe deeply from the base of your lungs. Avoid getting nervous because it makes you breathe shallow. When you start running initially start slow to prevent cramps. Inspite of everything if there is still cramp ,slow down and exhale forcefully multiple times. The pain should go in few seconds.

Will My Sexual Desires Change During Pregnancy?

It is common for your sexual desires to be different now that you are pregnant. Changing hormones cause some women to experience an increased sex drive during pregnancy, while others may not be as interested in sex as they were before they became pregnant.

During the first trimester, some women commonly lose interest in sex because they are tired and uncomfortable, while other women's sexual desires stay the same.

Hi i am 33 years old male. I am getting so much of sweat from my palm, arm and toes at any time and any season. I had consulted with doctors 4-5 times but the result is same. Please tell me what should I do for this.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by abnormally increased sweating, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. It can be associated with a significant quality of life burden from a psychological, emotional, and social perspective. Hyperhidrosis can either be generalized, or localized to specific parts of the body. Hands, feet, armpits, and the groin area are among the most active regions of perspiration due to the high number of sweat glands in these areas. When excessive sweating is localized (e. G. Palms, soles, face, underarms, scalp) it is referred to as primary hyperhidrosis or focal hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating involving the whole body is termed generalized hyperhidrosis or secondary hyperhidrosis. It is usually the result of some other, underlying condition. The cause of primary hyperhidrosis is unknown, although some physicians claim it is caused by overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system. Anxiety or excitement can exacerbate the condition for many sufferers. A common complaint of patients is they get nervous because they sweat, then sweat more because they are nervous. Other factors can play a role, including certain foods and drinks, nicotine, caffeine, and smells. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine- silicea 30 and bacopa monierri 1x - both thrice daily for 4 weeks. Yoga: there are few yoga poses which helps in calming your mind and relieves stress, but first learn these under a qualified yoga-teacher as many poses are prohibited in certain diseases or medical conditions! -practice shavasana or corpse pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body. -anuloma involves inhaling through both nostrils together and exhaling each breath alternately between the left and right nostrils. The thumb of the right hand is used to manipulate the right nostril, while the pinky and ring finger are used to control the left nostril.
