You should go for brisk walk in the morning and evening. Do regular exercise atleast 20 minutes. Take lukewarm water with lemon in the morning. Take salad before meals. Drink more water in a day. Don't take rice at night and don't skip breakfast. Take frequent meals instead of 3 big meals.

Hello. I am a 33 year old male living in Denmark since 10 years. I am originally from India. Recently on my trip to India, I was sleeping on hard mattresses, as is the case usually with beds in India. And for some reason it has probably not gone very well with my back. In Denmark we sleep on very soft mattresses. And my back has usually been pretty good and have had no complaints around it. Even though I have knee problem due to my history in sports. But this time around, the pain has been very consistent. The problem is that when I sit on my bed, in a fairly nice posture, with back straight, and leaning back on a pillow or something, my middle back starts feeling sore and irritates me, and then I have to sit with out any support for a while to relieve the tension. Even when bending sometimes, I can feel the tightness in lower and middle back, can feel its sore. It's been a month and now I am back in Denmark since a week, but still don't see any changes. In general what do you think is the problem and could it be linked to the mattresses? On a side note, an MRI of my lower spine was normal, with a slight slight disc bulge, without any significant nerve compression, according to the radiologist. So I am assuming the structure and things are good, but maybe it's just a passing thing. But still need to do something so it does not get worse, and hopefully to get it back to normal sooner. Kindly suggest. Thank you

hi, You have a slight disc bulge, but you did not mention the exact area. Depending on your history given i can suggest you complete body rest in proper position whenever pain starts. Don't carry heavy objects. Use hip bandage during prolonged sitting and travelling. Make sure to get proper bowel evacuation. You can manage the discomfort and further increase of the condition through traditional ayurveda therapy along with some internal medication. I can suggest you accordingly if you revert back in private consultation.

I go for jog daily, from last 4 day, I am suffering from pain in knee. I got my knee hurt while sprinting in morning. I can walk easily but when it comes to stairs it starts paining. I have not taken any medicine up till now. What are your suggetions.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part--knee rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Dear, “PROTIEN RICH DIET” Veg: Dhal, soya beans, mushrooms, sprouts etc…. Non Veg: Egg whites, Fish, Chicken (non fried items) Dry fruits – (Almonds 5-6 (badam), Dates (3-4), Walnuts (1-2), Raisins (kishmish)) majority of dry fruits are good for health & hair especially. Fresh Fruits - Green grapes with seeds (please crush seeds along with grapes while consuming) and Skin of Green Apple. Vegetables - Green Leafy Vegetables.

Dear lybrate user, *do not take more stress. *practice yoga, breathing exercise, meditation to relax and detoxification. *do proper sleep of 6-7 hours. * add protein containing items in your foods for healthy hair growth such as take a bowl of cereal daily and a glass of milk or 100 gm cheese or 1-2 eggs. *apply and massage your scalp with mahabringaraj taila for 10-15 minutes/day, it increases blood circulation and enhance hair growth. *avoid hair colors. * take vitamin-e rich foods like dry fruits (almonds, pista etc) daily. * take 1/2 teaspoon of amla powder with water once a day. *avoid more salt, dry, maida related junk foods.

hello Amreen main factor its not that how much you eat ,main thing which food you eat its nutritive or not..both things are important for reducing body fat..1st its 30 to 45 minute cardeo exercises preferable brisk walking..and 2nd its diet control or taking healthy nutritive diet.. drink warm water with lemon and honey early in the morning.. maximum intake of water and green tea.. dinner it should be light maximum till 8pm.. include fruits and vegetables in your diet.. avoid fatty refined processed food.. always be active..

Obesity is becoming a major health problem in India with people indulging too much in junk food, their unhealthy eating habits and sedantary lifestyle. Certain medical conditions are also responsible for excess weight gain. If neglected, it can obesity can lead to diabetes, high blood pressure and hypertension.

Following are ayurvedic tips for a healthier and systematic weight loss:

  1. Eat warm and cooked food in lunch: Your lunch should consist of warm and cooked food as they are easily digestible and provide the right amount of nutrients to your body. You can include a variety of cooked food in your lunch because the body metabolism gets adequate time to process it. Eating cold food has a reverse effect on your body as they lead to weight gain. Avoid a diet consisting of only carbohydrates and proteins as they do not nourish your body, but simply make you crave for food in between meals. Instead go for green vegetable and lean protein.
  2. Exercise: It goes without saying that exercise is a key to a healthy mind and body. Do away with sedentary lifestyle as that is one of the primary causes of weight gain. If you don't have time to workout, a walk daily will help. Exercise will not only help you lose the extra kilos, but will keep your energy up and increase your body's metabolism. It also improves bone and muscle health.
  3. Sleep: Ayurveda recognizes sleep or rest as one of the most important aspects of a healthy lifestyle. While good eating habits and exercise form one side of it, sleep or rest completes the triangle. One can also practice the Savasana or resting pose. And at least six to seven hours of sleep is a must as per Ayurveda.
  4. Meditation: This practice helps in focusing on awareness which can instil the desired function like weight management in the body. Being mindful of what your body needs can also help in eating and exercising right. Weight management is a lifelong process in Ayurveda.

I have mouth ulcers and it happened very frequently. I have taken folicacid becasole but no work. Advise what I do?

Hi, folic acid and b complex will help only if vitamin deficiency is the cause. There are other causes of mouth ulcers like stress, constipation, trauma, food allergies, etc. You should visit an oral medicine specialist for complete management. Meanwhile, apply kenacort 0.1% oral gel on the ulcers for relief in burning and pain.

Since you have taken the anti pregnancy pill within 7to 8 hrs after the sex that too protected sex sobitcunlokely to have pregnancy the spotting or bleeding you are getting may be due to the sideceffevt of the pill. But still to be on the date side you can consult a gynecologist who will give the correct assessment.

Hey. The simple way to avoid gas problem is to maintain a healthy life style. Try to follow this. Avoid eating outside food and oily or spicy foods. Drink plenty of water at least 2-3 liters of water per day. Have adequate sleep of 7-8 hours per day. Do moderate physical exercise daily as walking, running, jogging, cycling. Do yoga or meditation to keep yourself relaxed and calm. Avoid stress. If you are over weight, try to loose weight as losing weight can help relieve your symptoms. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol. 1. Take one tablet of crocin advance sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets daily 2. Do warm saline gurgling 3-4 times daily 3. Take viscodyne d syrup 2tsf thrice daily if it is a dry cough or viscodyne syrup if cough is associated with sputum 4. You may have to take antibiotic along with it after consulting doctor, if no relief.

I quite understand how difficult it must be to take care of two kids who are going for each other, hammer-and-tongs. In situations where there are sibling rivalries you have to be really careful to handle it without bias or at least appear to be so. Here are a few tips: be rational in any disputes; show that you care for both but more for the person who is right; reason out with both but expect the older one to be both considerate and understanding; teach the younger one obedience to the older one due to the age difference, if she is reasonable; sometimes you let them sort out their disputes by just monitoring the conversation; no violence is to be permitted, ever; no foul language also; settle disputes by yourself as early as possible and never tell them to wait till daddy comes home; do not punish them with physical beatings unless it calls for the same but it should be done with complete control over your own emotions and you need to be very careful what you say when you do so; do not compare the two with each other or with other people you know; and reward them when they are deserving with verbal or material forms of recognition. However much you show love to both of them equally (which is really not possible actually) both will claim that you love the other more. If they can justify that accusation, you must accept it and act accordingly. If they cannot justify it just ignore those comments. Never hesitate to apologize if you are wrong for any reason (they will really get overwhelmed by that). In terms of consequences (i like that term instead of punishments), use the following proven techniques: stick one or both in the corner of the room facing the corner and let them be there until they are ready to deal with the situation by giving you a very good explanation for their behavior; let them do a chore that is related to the crime; deprive them of tv, if they cannot agree amicably on a program with which you can help them initially; make them write a sentence several times that is meaningfully connected to the event; deprive them of chocolates, sweets etc. For a limited period of time and do specify that time; never give them unending consequences or undefined in terms of time or frequency; at the end of each such successful confrontation show them that you love them but do not do it from guilt, even if you feel really sorry for them; never, never, ever reject them whatever you do or say; and confront the behavior and not the person. Your daughter is in her early teens and will need special attention. She may display certain abnormal behaviors in which case, she is indicating that some unresolved childhood issues are surfacing seeking a resolution. Be there for her in a special way and if you know of any unresolved issues yourself do talk to her about it and help her out of it. If anything gets too serious, meet a professional counselor and work in league with them. Be in touch with their teachers and you will be surprised with how much more they know and how it is possible to work with them to help both your kids. But do not be a complainer to the teachers and in no way should you embarrass them in front of those faculties. Your disciplining is with motherly nurturing and do not hold that back for any reason. Involve the father where his role as a man is required and the kids will know that you both work together as parents for their welfare. There is so much more but space does not permit going into too much detail.
